When I see posts around cut out content from the game... I get mad... really really mad, those were cut out for a reason and if you had that piece in game unfinished you would probably complain about it not working or something like that.

Let them do what they need to do to finish the game and stop complaining that something didn't make to the final version

8 years of development and 300 million was not enough to finish the game? Are you still waiting for a miracle? The DLC that will change everything?
I wish I had such faith.

Young Yea had a developer leak that was actually confirmed (unlike another one) which said that the big secret of Cyberpunk 2077 was that it had only been worked on for four years not eight. The staff was moved from working on it to polish Witcher 3 for release and not released until Blood and Wine was done. Which pissed a lot of people who had signed on specifically to work on this game.

The reason is they weren't finished and that pisses people off who expected a finished product. I don't expect it to work 100% perfectly and I liked the game overall but the state it was delivered in was unacceptable. Delay the Playstation 4 and Xbox releases until they work.

They're not five minutes long. But the previews in June and reviews prior to release both said they were short prologues (15-30 minutes).

Cyberpunk 2077 Preview: 5 hours of pure ‘Cool’ with its hardest build

For those of you who haven't met me yet, I have a malfunction in my OS. There's this glitch that forces me to test my limits whenever I lay my optics systems on
stevivor.com stevivor.com

"Lastly, in the three Life Paths (read: a short origin story prologue that greatly shapes your narrative course through the game) I ignored Street Kid and The Nomad; instead, I became a filthy Corporat. This was mostly because we’ve not seen the Corporate choice play out in preview materials yet, but also because I figure being dropped into a a high-powered viper’s nest of turbo Patrick Batemans is about as uphill a start as one could get.

As luck would have it, my instincts were proven right in all of 20 minutes (mind you, it’s my understanding that all three prologues jerk you around and leave you figuratively washed up on the shores of Night City). It starts out well. I’m a medium-sized wheel in Arasaka’s counter-intelligence mob, rubbing shoulders with the pretty people throughout an office space that sports décor from the Brotherhood of Nod collection. Pretty soon my V is drawn into some inter-office backstabbing going on between my clearly psychotic boss (Arthur Jenkins) and his promotion-thieving new superior (Susan Abernathy)."

Here's one of three guys each summarizing the three different lifepaths - https://www.gamespot.com/videos/cyberpunk-2077-handson-impressions-all-three-class/2300-6453230/

There were several others (maybe a dozen in all). I'm not going to dig them all up though.

EDIT: And yes I'm aware the reviews weren't in June. That's why I said the previews were in June, and the reviews were before release.

So nowhere did CDPR themselves advertise that these life paths were 15 minutes before a 6 month montage that throws you into the street kid life path anyways.

Or did I miss it?
I don't generally read every single game journalism that comes out.
And lets be honest when CDPR was doing these previews back in june they were still riding the hype train.

No, they just made the prologue lifepaths available to be played and allowed journalists to write about the whole things. Which they did, and gave very detailed accounts of what occurred. If you got the impression from any of those that the prologues were hours long ... I don't know what to tell you.

EDIT: Short of releasing the game for free, you literally can't be more open about something than letting it be played hands on by people out of house and then written about. It's not through your filter ... it's the people playing the games descriptions and impressions.

Really hoping they add in a bunch of cut stuff over the next few months. Some areas just feel really barren.

So you are of the opinion that the marketing for this game was open and honest?
And my misunderstanding of a deep next gen RPG is my comprehension of the english language?

Yes. They said a TON about the RPG systems. Look at the linked thread Everything We've Heard in my signature. They were very detailed about the mechanics.

You can subjectively say you dont consider those "deep" (in my opinion that would be incorrect), but they were very clear about what they meant.

So when the cdpr's marketing guy says "this is one of V's appartment where you can bring your NPC companion to hang out with"

It is due to my poor misunderstanding that by one they meant ONLY one and by "you can bring" they meant "in a scripted quest we will bring the NPCs to Vs appartment once or twice"

Yep. That makes sense!

I'm sure you can pick apart individual interviews all day for stuff that's been changed (as I said previously there clearly are some things that got cut - the vast majority of them being either disclosed well in advance or very small in the scheme of the game). Such is the nature of talking about your game two years prior to release. As a gamer, I would prefer they talk about the game early and I just go in knowing that some stuff is likely to change (because that's how development works) rather than they take the Rockstar route and dropping a couple trailers and saying nothing else till a month before release. CDPRs route is much more open.

However, if I were them, I'd probably just start doing it Rockstars way, because all they seem to get for even trying to be open about things is grief.

But we weren't talking about companions joining V in apartments, we were talking about RPG mechanics.

The problem is the same.
CDPR describes things ambiguously and misleads people then turns around and tells us "see! I didnt mean it this way but that way"

And we are talking about missing features.

8 Years and did you ask yourself or anyone how long does it take to concept the game, brainstorm through dev implementation ? A product with original concept X won't be the same as finished product ever and nobody ever achieved that in any game
As a Mass Effect Fanboy I put CP2077 on pair that of the trilogy, no game thus far could reach that level of detail and yet here we are whining and crying about shitty console port ... how the "turntables"
What I meant by the finished game was:
1. Make it playable for you console audience
2. Work on the content pieces that were outed from the game that was released in December
3. New Game +
4. Start working on the continuation of the game

Is all I ask nothing else
I work in a company with devs but in Telcos but the idea remains similar (as a product manager) you research your market and audience, create drafts, start working with devs, re-work, re-work, re-work and maybe a year later your product might be out - and that is on a much smaller scale product.

I don't know what you guys expected from the game, clearly the misconception and misguidance was there in the background.
Story (even though very sad), Characters, Music all levels of masterpiece ... it's like Hans Zimmerman, Michael Bay and Doom Eternal had a baby

Agreed. CDPR can learn from Bethesda and Rockstar as well. Bethesda being that they love to release hype teasers or a whole trailer at least a month or two before actual release(their ES6 teaser being a very rare thing, and even then they showed nothing lol) . That way hype is generated and speculation has no time to go out of wack before the game is in players hands anyway. Todd Howard admits this in an interview not to long ago.

Rockstar sort of does the same thing, but they will absolutely delay their game until it is ready on all platforms. Even PC releases are delayed until they are absolutely ready.

Both studios show exactly the finished product and what to expect.

Meanwhile, good old CDPR are doing years of hype campaign for CP2077 while it's still in development!
