I waited so long for an RPG game in LOTR setting, but only thing we get is hack 'n' slash Assassin's Creed: Shadow of Hodor. Great.
I think I might try it out, but this "live action" right now is just concelebrated them with disrepute.

It wouldn't be that bad if they made Talion's outfit better. Seriously, a talented cosplayer would make it better otherwise I don't really have problems with this.

Trailer for a new game

Never seen anything like this before.

This is so unique it's hilarious.

(how many games did you see the last 8 minutes watching this trailer?)

While I think the witcher is the ultimate way to honor a book, and its original content in video game form. I think this game is paradoxically the ultimate method to piss on a book, and its original content in video game form.

I really do want to play this so damn much already...

EDIT: Today I learnt, the writer for this game also wrote RDR(probably along with the Housers).

Thank you for the vid.
I'm not convinced at all however. Will get it on sale, when it's under 15$, for sure, but it still looks too much like a collection of things I already did and saw (Nemesis system excepted).

How long does that usually take? A year+, no? Not sure, just guessing.

Depends on the game and its success.
Past the first few weeks after release the hype is down and usually games get cheaper some months afterwards.
For exemple Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 was out in the end of february and got a huge sale some weeks ago (so... 6 months). If the game is shittier like the last Thief, it's shorter.

edit: Another good example, which sums up what I think about Shadow of Mordor, is Titanfall: it's basically a boring game you already played through and through with a big nice new feature. The game has lots of sales in the beginning (marketing hype) then disappeared. The price is 50% off on Origin regularly (even 65% right now).

Something about that gameplay video isn't sitting well with me. The maps are very empty and dull, but it's not just that.

I don't see the Titanfall comparison really, it looked CoD with mechs, small maps and boredom included from the start and that's exactly what it turned out to be. What nice "new" feature are you referring to? Mechs? 2 great mech games already existed when Titanfall came out.

This on the other hand makes me genuinely excited for reasons I really don't know, but the enemies don't seem completely cannon fodder, there's a lot of enemies and plenty of challenge from said enemies and the Arkham like combat seems to work.

Of course only the release of the game will prove me wrong or right. The gameplay you posted looks extremely boring and repetitive to me.
I won't say again what I said in the first pages of this topic: it's Assassin's Creed/Batman in a LOTR setting with the only one new thing added to the mix being the "nemesis system".
I don't expect this system to be interesting: it is meant to make place for replayability -- however this game's combat system becomes redundant and boring really fast, I'm not sure I would play this game more than once. The developpers should never focus on replayability in my opinion. Make the game good, enjoyable and diverse, well-paced in the first place.
Also, I'm not sure you can make Batman/AC combat system anymore. Let this to the said franchises and try to make something a little bit more interesting and innovative, please.

I compare this game to Titanfall because Titanfall was a boring, well-crafted game without surprises and ambition, with mechanics I already know, in a setting I'm familiar with. The way mechs are implemented in the game is the only thing worthwhile (but nothing original by itself, I agree).
SoM has a setting (and even characters) I know, doesn't look bad (the world map in the vid was kinda bland though), seems to have mechanics I already know. Looks like the developer took 0 risk in making it.
Two glasses of warm water.

I see.

I still don't know what I like about it, maybe it's just fighting many many many Orcs in a decent challenging game.

I cancelled my pre-order a week ago due to financyal issues, now I could pre-order once again, but I don't know. The story itself will be damn good because of the writers, but the gameplay is the thing which could become boring. Every video they showcaseing the nemesis system, so I ask a simple question, there is nothing more to show?

They showed a lot more than Nemesis here though, rather interesting things. I can't see anything "lacking" compared to any other game. Besides Nemesis is their biggest 'feature.

If we're going to boil down to that then:
Does Witcher have anything other than choices and consequences?
Does Batman have anything other than combat and detective vision?
Does ... you get what I mean.

I get, of course, we will see how it turns out when you are playing the game and not watch the gameplay, that will be a big difference. I am pre-ordered once again because of the story. As I read, Dan Abnett works on the story as well, who have written a lot of Warhammer 40k novels, in fact, he is one of the writers of the Aliens: Isolation.

It honestly looks like a cheap Lord of The Rings knockoff. It just looks dull and uninspired.

I have to agree...but I've been surprised before. They have the writer from RDR after all.

Mmmmhmm pretty high scores although i would like a review from a more believable source.

That said both ign and gamesopot gave faily honest \reviews for destiny giving the mediocre scores that that everyone is saying that it deserved.

Well pick your poison.

I'm playing it regardless of scores because I have a gut feeling and my gut feeling is rarely(stress on rarely, not 'always') wrong about my enjoyment no matter how much I resist >_>
