Militech out of nowhere.

Thanks for the welcome. Being a Mac user I only acquired this game recently. I am enjoying the hell out of it. I do have a question though, or perhaps a concern.

I was doing a quick NCPD job out in the Badlands. I took down the four Raffen Shivs committing it.

Then a Militech car showed up. The goons inside got out and started shooting at me. They weren't a problem either.

Two more cars showed up. Taking down the soldiers in these took a little longer.

Four cars showed up. I ran for my bike. Didn't make it as they ran me down with a vehicle. I'm not sure but I think this was part of a fresh set of four vehicles.

Just before I quit, realizing I was well and truly screwed, I looked at my minimap and there were at least ten red circles on it.

Have I triggered a bug? Have I triggered Militech somehow? If so, how? I rarely engage Militach unless the job requires it. If I have triggered Militech why is there reaction on the level of a war? Shouldn't it be more gradual?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right.

I do know there are quite a rash of reports concerning the whole NCPD response thing, and this sounds almost exactly like it, except with Militech personnel. Not sure if you were meant to bug out after killing the original thugs. You can lose hostiles if you break contact and get far enough away. What you're describing sounds a bit over-the-top and unrelated to the quest, though. I can't remember any NCPD gigs that resulted in Militech arriving in force for no apparent reason.

It may be something completely unrelated to the gig. Do you remember where it happened? Did you happen to wander into a restricted zone, at any point?

Just checked tha map. I was about 1,400 meters east of Rocky Ridge where an eastbound road splits north and south east.

This assumes each line of the map is 100 meters.

If there's restricted area there I don't see any indication of it.

ETA: The save I used was just before I started killing the Shivs. So I tried again.

No trigger this time. In and out. No problem.

Weird.

Yeah, that's sounding as if it's the same sort of thing that people are seeing with NCPD suddenly materializing out of thin air right on top of players. That was an issue with earlier versions of the game, then the studio re-worked how the police respond, decreasing the number of initial responders and increasing the spawn distance so that it was a bit more realistic.

Not heard of Militech responding before, though. Sometimes, new patches can end up resurrecting older code. If it happens again, see if you can catch a clip or some images of the game in action and send it in. Bottom line, that sounded like completely unintentional behavior.

I may have a theory of what happened, but not sure...

If you completed a GIG not long before in the badland and completed it not "stealthy", like any GIG, enemies related to the GIG have a chance to spawn (in cars) and chase you for revenge a bit later. And in the badlands, many GIGs involve Militech.
In addition (not sure about that), in Badlands, Militech soldiers replace NCPD cops, so if you kill militech soldiers who patrol around Badland, it's them who keep spawning (instead of cops like in Night City).

So "maybe", if the enemies related to a GIG you completed before spawned and obviously, you killed them, there might be a chance that reinforcement keep spawning "indefinitely" like cops do.

That's possible. I'd been playing for several hours at that point. In fact I'd just finished another NCPD gig shortly before that. Can't remember if it involved Militech though.

Restarting the 'bugged gig' from a save would explain why I got away with it the second time.

I'll keep an eye out to see if this happens again.

Thanks for the help.

I remember something like this. Somewhere by the end of the map, indeed Militech shows up and attacks if a specific area is being investigated, it may even be marked as a quest area. Mayhap a bit different part of the map than you point out, but not unseen ever since 1.x.

Don't worry about it, have a short work of them.

That's a really good theory.

It would also explain why it didn't happen the second time. For what it's worth, barring the crazy level of spawning that I've seen in a few videos, I appreciate a game that makes you run away from time to time. Getting to that realization of, "Nope. NOPE! Nope-nope-nope-nope-nope..." and bugging the @#$% out, is really fun.
