Mod distribution on dropped weapons
Hello chooms,I spent some time savescumming for a 5++ Nekomata with two empty mod slots (Nekomata held by a Kang Tao Sniper in Life During Wartime) and these have been my results:
drops:
1: 8
1+: 6
2: 41
2+: 44
3: 45
3+: 54
4: 45
4+: 48
5: 68
5+: 90
5++: 117
total: 566
drops with 2 free mod slots:
3: 26
4: 19
4+: 17
5: 10
total: 72
It seems that the rarities 2 to 4+ are pretty evenly distributed, with 5, 5+ and especially 5++ being more common. However, most concerningly, drops with two free mod slots made up more than half of Tier 3 drops and still a sizeable percentage of Tier 4, 4+ and 5 drops, while no Tier 3+, 5+ or 5++ with two empty mod slots have been forthcoming.
On a naive approach, one might expect that since there are 9 mods that can go on a Nekomata (1 general/Pax, 2 ranged (without Better Half), 3 tech, 3 sniper), roughly 1/100 drops would have two free mod slots, but this clearly doesn't seem to be how it works (I've checked well over 227 Tier 5++ drops, ca. 100 more before I started counting).
This leads me to speculate about whether there is a "hidden" drop pool that excludes e.g. Tier 3+ drops from being dropped with two empty slots.
Does anyone with some experience or technical knowledge about (handheld) drop pools have any thoughts about this? Is my sample size just too small?
Thank you for your help
