[mod] How to make the blood decals bigger?

Hi,last Friday I bought The Witcher (EU Version) and was very impressed. Its a really good game, if not its the best RPG I have ever played! After I share a couple of hours with the witcher I recognize these really tiny blooddecals on the floor. First I thought it was bug, because I´ve seen many trailers before, and the was much more blood - including a pool of blood after the enemy dies. Last night I have read some gore elements (like finishing moves) and severing bodyparts exception the head are deleted by the final version of The Witcher. Is this true? This would be really pity, because there are many other gore effects and adult elements still there. I dont know what the developer think by this, but okay I can life with this. But please CD Projekt Red Studio, make it better in The Witcher 2 :)Okay now back to topic. After I see this blood drops, I want them make bigger. These blood fontains out of the enemy do not match with this drops on the floor.I´m not sure, but I think I have found the blood decals in the folder: "\Data\dds\"blood.ddsbloodgrn.dds (green blood)blood1.ddsblood2.ddsblood3.ddsblood4.ddsblood5.ddsblood6.ddsblood7.dds and so on...I changed all textures to a bigger size from 128x128 to 512x512. But it wont work, any process in The Witcher downsizing all files to these drops. Any pixelsize changes bringing not the wished effect. As I say, I hope I changed the right files. There are some other files like the "bloodstains.2da" but this file change only the color of the blood, right? In the "/Data/mat" folder are also some interesting files like "decal_blood_w.mat" but I cant open them without 3d Studio max. Anyway the Witcher wiki says this are only effects, not the blood decal on the floor.I hope anyone can give me the right hint. The Witcher is a really good game, all things are fine and very good converted. The open world is amazing, and the story is great so far. I hope I will see The Witcher 2 or something like that later next year :)regards,Celestisedit: Here is a good video which shows the old gore level of the witcher, but this decals are to big for my favor. :)

Damn you´re right, thanks for the info. The bloodspirtes are now bigger, but just only by a weapon hit. The floor sprites are still tiny. Some new blood textures and effects are already done. Right now, I´m seaching the code part which resize the sprites. If has anyone some tips about this, please contact me :)

I'm a big fan of blood and gore, I'll dig into the files and see what I can come up with.

The localized.bif file contains files such as Cf_bleeding02.wfx, these files can be edited with a text editor such as wordpad. Some of the variables include: Im sure someone could have some fun with these.

Did anyone ever make a better blood mod? The blood in the 2k5 trailer looked so much nicer.

to do this, instead of editing the texture files, you have to edit the model file to scale the polygon 2x or 4x as big etc.long as u can pinpoint which are the blood model files , import and export them, that should work

Wrong! Blood are emitters, they are created with a WootFX script. You will have to edit the scripts to make them bigger... Here's a little screenie of my mod that adds more damage to opponents you hit (yes, I know its overdone):
Edit:The ones on the ground are called decals. blood5 and blood9 are the small blood drops you see when you hit someone

The blood that splats on the ground is going to always be a decal. I'm not all that sure what the blood is when its flying off of an enemy as you hack away at them. Is that a type of sprite maybe? Anyway, it would be awesome if there was a way to make the blood decals and the blood that squirts a brighter color. It's hard to see the squirting blood how it currently is, we need something to make it contrast more. It looks so cool for it to be that hard to see.

I'm beginning to understand how the material system works together with the WootEffect scripts. I will give it a shot when I'm convinced enough :)

Seems my research is paying off, check this out:
It's the blood created by two drawners ;D As you might guess I took a way to big value for size, but it was just to see if my modifications had effect. It seems the creators of The Witcher have scaled all blood decals to like 0.05% of the origiinal size, causing them to show up as the small drops we all know. What I also found is that they left old blood files behind (yes, one's they don't use now). I might dig into them to see if they might contain the blood you see in that video.EDIT:This is awesome, I also found out how to add blooddeclas to fist fights, it will be one bloody hell :p

For now, I'll keep the "little" info I know to myself. But ofcourse, I will share my knowledge later on. I will try to recreate the blood from the trailer first.

You will have to extract 5,6gb of data first before you can start modding, check the Wikia for a tool called BifRip (UnBif doesn't function right).
