NOTICE BOARD 11/29/2017

Good news for fans of The Butcher of Blaviken mod, There is a new version incoming that corrects some problems and adds improvements.
I've been able to try this mod for all this time and i find some flaws. I mention some:
- Hair too white in the sunlight (I'm working on an improvement that is giving good results).
- Using zoom out in game on geralt (for example with Immersive Cam Mod)... hair loses quality(hairworks on) is a basic function of the game, but I've been able to find a way to minimize this problem.
- Adaptation of beard color to match perfectly with hair color.
- Increased beard realism
- Improved scalp resolution
- Modified scalp coloring to adapt to white hair
etc.
the full patch notes will be released on the release date.

I do not know when this update will be live(Probably end of December or Q1 2018), I want to take the time to release the version with no defects (or almost).

Thank you for your support

Can't the whole hair LOD be resolved by simply removing all non-0 LOD levels?

To do this, i need to work with .w2mesh files but i am a former professional graphic I do not know the procedure to follow to modify the LOD (you probably have to edit the xml file) and there are no guides for that .. from the w2mesh file .. i edit the w2.mesh files (getting 2 files ..xml and fbx), but i never worked with fbx ...

but i'm trying ... if anyone knows how to do .. i will gladly accept your help ^^

I am currently following this guide https://forums.cdprojektred.com/forum/en/the-witcher-series/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/mod-discussions/61645-the-tutorial-compendium

( google translator.. sorry)

Denroth just open up the w2mesh file with Sarcens Mod Editor and then select the top listed item which is called Cmesh#1 and then click the + next to cookedData then again for renderLODs. It will drop down after clicking on renderLODs right click on lines 1 and 2 and hit remove variable and now resave the w2mesh file. You will have to test it out. If that doesnt work then you try it again but this time only keep lines 0 and 1 and on line 1 increase the number value anywhere from 25-45. To see what works best.

Thanks man you have been invaluable <3 ... you will be in the credits of my mod;)

EDIT: it seems that w3oven does not include w2mesh files in the mod ... because the weight of the file is always the same (with and without LOD) 19.3mb

EDIT2: problem solved .. just copy the w2mesh files in the uncook ^^ folder(of the mod)

guys a new problem -.- "
I can cook the mod (with the w2mesh files) without errors ..
the problem is that even leaving the w2mesh files without any changes ...
the created mod seems to break the textures of the eye in some way>.>
there is something that escapes me

Denroth as long as the w2mesh files are put in the uncooked folder there shouldnt be any problems. There should be buffer files made with the mod as well. When you uncook the mod is there w2mesh buffer files that are with the w2mesh files? If there isnt any you will have to add them into the cooked folder. They are in the same folder as the w2mesh files when you uncooked the game files.

As long as they do not become "CRC Corrupt"... Otherwise they will definitely not be Mod Merger-friendly. That's why I recommend removing LOD's only from unPACKED meshes, not unCOOKED meshes.

MonarchX sent you some files via PM, if you could cook them for me and test them if you want :) I cant get w3 oven to work. They are new Clouds, water, and fire textures.

yes .buffer files are created .. one for each w2mesh file
but for some strange reason even if I do not modify the w2mesh files (vanilla)
the aspect of Geralt changes ... when it should remain the same.
This means that there was some error during the process.

they should look the same since the w2mesh files have not changed, but it does not

I am confused as to what exactly changed or was supposed to change. Could you upload both sets' original, non-cooked, non-compressed files??

are the w2mesh files of vanilla ... not modified ...
copied to the uncook folder (modNameMod \ Modded \ uncook) and cooked with w3oven ..

I can upload them but I have not made any changes since the vanilla version (uncook).

"Have you looked at GeraltLOD mod I sent you?"

I tried that lod .. but there are no evident changes>.>

No evident changes? How can you tell? Its vanilla with LOD:s removed, aside from the eyes.

Send me / upload the full quality uncompressed files you have and I will cook them (if cookable), please.

I probably understood where is the problem ...

all the uncooked game files were unpacked with modkit 1.2 version (a few years ago) so the w2mesh files for some mods seemed damaged ... now I'm unpacking with version 1.3 of the modkit.

I hope to solve the problem.

this is the TBOB vanilla version (no LOD)

this is with the mod you sent me (with lod)

EDIT:
OK, maybe there are ... just create the mod with W3Edit ^^

I modified the values of the LOD for TBOB ... can you try if it works correctly?

No LOD as in no non-0 LOD? AFAIK you need to have LOD of some sort, the 0-LOD or full LOD or whatever technical term is...

Its also hard for me to tell if the whole LOD for Geralt works. The original creator, Asmodean, stated that it removes Geralt's "blank stare" / "doll look" outside of cut scenes, but I am not sure to be honest... It is hard to tell.., but AFAIK HQ Quality faces were designed the same way, although I believe that mod does not produce CRC errors during uncooking process...

Original Geralt LOD mod did have non-0 LOD for Geralt, the 1-level LOD with value 40 and did not produce CRC corruption during uncook, but other meshes within the mod did for sure.
