Modding, not with Nexus

+
I want to use mods, but I don't want to use Nexus. I used to but since they started charging and sold it to a gaming monetization company it feels different to me. Do the mod creators get paid now?
Which is the best alternative to nexus for Cyberpunk?
Is there a reason why the steam workshop is not used at all? It makes using mods so easy for people on Steam.

I haven't noticed any difference in my time using Nexus. Even with the recent stepping down of the founder, the place runs the same as always.

The only notable things are some extra things regarding nudity, especially as Nexus is based in the UK which is doing a lot of draconian moves with its laws.
Do the mod creators get paid now?
Sort of. Creators get a share of ad revenue that can be converted into Paypal credit.

Many mod creators will also advertise patreon or other services that allow for donations for more direct monetary benefit.
Which is the best alternative to nexus for Cyberpunk?
As far as I am aware, there isn't one.

Most likely because CP2077 is not only on Steam, it is also sold on GoG. So putting in the resources to enable Steam Workshop doesn't make sense.

That, and modding isn't exactly a supported feature of the game. By which I mean, that they allow mods to be made and created, they haven't gone out of their way to facilitate modding to be done. No creation kits, modding tools or innate mod support.
