To be honest, as someone who moved from Max to Blender, I can say with certainty that Blender 2.66 vastly exceeds Max2013 in terms of available features even with the included addons, not to mention those addons that are available for download. Bsurfaces in particular is very good for game assets. Quick Fill is also something I often use. Normal map detail painter and seamless integration with sculpting... Max doesn't even come close.

In That Case my Only Request is that CDProjekt decides to create an Importer/Exporter for Skeletal Mesh with Animations for Blender.

Please:D

Instead of supporting each software (??), which is honestly pointless and resource hungry, you'd be better of guys by supporting FBX format just like Epic does by now. Everyone will be happy, everyone will be able to use whatever see fits, and you will have to maintain only single tool.

If FBX were the considered option, then I would rather vote for OpenCollada instead which both Blender and Max can support. (FBX is Owned by Autodesk) OpenCollada is Open Source and quite universal.

OpenCOLLADA for 3ds Max [2009-2013]
OpenCOLLADA for Maya [2010-2013]
OpenCOLLADA for 3ds Max (Older versions)
OpenCOLLADA for Maya (Older versions)

Oh, and btw, we don't have any legal reasons or whatever to start Mesh Export Support with 3dsMax. We just used it ourselves and it was logical to start mesh support with this one as we know it and know how to implement it. And you have to bear in mind that we are all swarmed with Witcher 3 work so it's not that easy to include support for every software, although we really wish we could. I hope you all understand that :)

Glad to hear that BANAN, that gives us hope and I know you guys are focused on Witcher 3, but I really think that with proper support the RedKit could become a great tool for everyone who wants to create his own rpg game :)
But I'm not switching to 3ds :p
Just kidding, but I wonder if the export from other softwares to 3ds and then export with the custom exporter to the RedKit works properly...I really need to do some testing ( while waiting for the exporter for Softimage :D )

Ok then. But you and other companies should really consider using Blender instead. It's so much better than Max. I know if I ever get into the industry and have a choice I will use Blender and only Blender.

@GameMaster
During closed Beta when we waited for exporter i proposed Collada (*.Dae) format as it is widely supported, open source and it's just XML with fields looking like .OBJ elements. For pr0's from CDPred it should be super easy to implement. I think that they just modified their own exporter which was written for Max :/

I do my sculpting and meshing in ZBrush and my rigging (and most UVs) in Maya. I'd also like a reliable way to get a model from Maya into REDkit. FBX or Collada should be fine as long as it works. FBX in UDK is pretty damn good and I'd love something on par with that.

I'd also like to add my vote to the Max sucks tally. It's used for so many games and it just baffles me why so many studios prefer it over other programs. But then, I couldn't get the hang of Blender either. Learned Maya at uni and stuck with it.

Are you asking some one to make such video or you willing to do your own video about it?

Many of us are waiting for this functionality, so this kind of video tutorial is not yet possible.

There's a import (.w2ent) script for Blender since Witcher 2 was launched, or close ot it (June I think) which can export the game models with bones/weights/textures etc. Prolly of that he's talking about.

Yes, I know of this script, but there are some issues with it.

1. The script is made for Blender 2.49.2 (A very old version of blender which uses python 2.6, the latest blender is 2.57 with Python 3.X).
2. The script is not 100% but works very good if your interested in just checking out the models within blender.
3. The script will not open models from the redkit data folder only from a custom unpack using a different tool for unpacking the data.
4. The gentleman who wrote the script is a very talented python programmer but does not seem to update the scripts he makes anymore:(
5. The script does not support animations and although the bones import correctly for some models there is still an alignment issue which I don't understand.
6. There is no exporter it is import only.

I wish someone at CDProjeKt with python knowledge would use the information in the script to polish and finish it off for the updated blender.

puff,in skyrim is difficult import skin, but i see in this game are more;the programers of redkit need make a simple (import-export script) for skin to this game.create maps and game is very seen, people like to export more creations, (I would give more ideas to developers). would be a point against not create a skin editor easy to use.not to create a simple editor, I do not continue with this game.(pardon for my englsih)

AFAIK you can use the script with Blender version 2.49 just to open models and then proceed in the latest version of Blender (2.67 at the moment). Of course for this you need parallel installations of version 2.49 and the newer version. Haven't tried this myself though.

Yes, you can certainly save the blend file in 2.49 and then open within 2.57 (good point). However it tries to keep the old window layout (Not to much an issue).

But all the other issues still remain.

I would post a screenshot but I'm not sure of how the rules work with that type of thing?
