anyone know what I can do to fix as issue where my monitor goes off on me after 30 minutes of gameplay..when it happens I just move my mouse and it comes back on...
Im using a gamepad too so idk..I went to power settings and changed it to not shut off on me so I don't know whats going on..This never happened to me when I used controller for tombraider or darksouls..only w2
any advice its very annoying as if it happens in battle I die or if cinematics I lose part of the story..

Are you running your account as administrator with full privileges ? Another possible reason is that "Group Policy" has been assigned and only an administrator can change this .

ok i`m going to merge that thread with this one to make it simpler to keep up with .

With the monitor going into standby it could be a power supply issue or a loose connection from your video card to monitor or possible pc setting configuration .
Try clicking start>control panel>power options and select high performance .

Also open Nvidia Control Panel and expand 3D Settings then click Manage 3D settings then in the Global Settings tab scroll down until you see Power management mode and from the drop down menu select Prefer Maximum performance and click apply and ok .

Is this an off the shelf computer ? If so then list the brand , make and model . If known what is your power supply make and model .

One more thing can you attach a dxdiag with your next post ?

I did the nvidea power mode max setting...also this is an asus 8gb model very good for gaming..BUT I had my own power supply put in for this gc 460 gtx. I believe its a 500w or 550w either way when I got the card the original power supply woulnt hack it alone so I had my friend put in the power supply for me.
Ive had this gc and power supply for 2 years now. never had problems like this at all from any game including w1 tombraider (ran like a champ) until just now
so lets see now if this holds. ty

Do you remember or know what brand of power supply ? Cheap power supplies can fail rather quickly . You can pull the side off the case and see the power supply brand name .

You can probably stress your power supply by running an app that comes with MSI Afterburner called MSI Kombustor it will also stress test your card as well . .

k ill will check that out..ty. If it becomes more of a hassle im just gonna go buy the nvidea 760. Because with the 760 I can use the same power supply as a 460. However if your right and its the power supply then ill just have to replace it too.
I will have that app check and do a stress test on the power supply if this gets worse, for now im So into this game that I have no time for anything else. Love this game.
Ill get back in due time Tommy ty very much..lets see if these new setting you prompted me with hold up.

320.49 is the current WHQL version. So you are up to date. There is a beta version, 326.80, that you could try.

If you install Geforce Experience with your driver, be sure to let it update to 1.6.1. Earlier versions of Geforce Experience will break TW2.

Don't spend money on another card until you have confirmed that you have a good power supply. You should post the make and model here, not just the wattage, because the wattage labeled on many power supplies is a more imaginative fantasy than the Witcher saga. The make and model are extremely important. A computer that black-screens at random times in this game is strongly implicating the power supply.

OKAy guys ty tyt yso much here is my power supply brand is Thermaltake TR2-600W, Atx 12v 2.2, input volt - 115/230v input current 115 vac/14a max 230 vac and the frequency is 60/50 Hz

Okay can someone help me here. I want to stay nvidea GeForce because im a satisfied customer there product lasted me 2 and a half years with the 460 gtx and is still running great
I want to get a great card that can fit this Power supply of 600w and have 2 6 pins cables. my price range is anywhere from 250-400 bux.. keep in mind I only have room for one card in there, so no crossing, also my computer is an Asus CM5675 desktop with a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 cpu 650 @ 3.20 Ghz installed memory is 8.00 gb 64 bit op system has a quad core processor.
Any recommendations for me before I get a good card? should I take it to geek squad and have anything done before hand or is it all good to go??

Just to make life difficult, Thermaltake has 3 different TR2 600W models.

The old model, W0388RU, is a HEC-made power-supply-shaped piece of crap. Its power ratings are entirely fictitious. There are some other Wxxx... models that are just as irresponsibly labeled as 600W. If you have one of these, junk it.

There is a "TR2 600W" model that is made by CWT. It's a cheap obsolete design, but it is a workable power supply.

There's also a "TR2 600W" model that is made by FSP. It's a modern design with 80Plus Bronze certification.

If you have the newer CWT-made or better yet the FSP-made model, you should be OK with it.

If you have one of the old "Wxxx..." models, you are due for a new power supply. I would under no circumstances run a GPU-heavy game or a new powerful expensive GPU off any of those power supplies.

okay so first and foremost replace my power supply, gotcha...Now I cant fit anything bigger than the 600w in there so im stuck with a 600 MAYBE 650 but lets say 600 for now
What do you recommend Guy? based on the comp I have and a better reliable 600W power supply??
What do you recommend in anticipation for w3..Also with your recommendation should I use 2 6pins like it is already or need 1 6 1 8 or 2 8s?? This is a must have game for me, and WILL NOT miss this on opening day..

Ugh, yeah, those HEC-made power supplies are very old now and never were any good even when they were new.

Until you get into rarefied territory like Corsair AX and Antec Signature, the best power supplies are various models made by Seasonic. It's confusing, because Seasonic sells under their own name as well as Antec and Corsair, and not all Antec and Corsair models are Seasonic.

Seasonic models beginning with S12 or M12 (difference: M12's have modular cables, which helps hold down clutter) are all excellent.

Antec "HCG", "Neo Eco", and "True Power New" models are equivalent to various Seasonic-label models.

So are Corsair "HX", "AX" (through 850W, not the monster 1200W model), and some "TX". Some "TX" are Channel Well, which is also good. Corsair is very demanding about the power supplies that are sold in their premium lines.

My biggest boxes run a Seasonic S12II 620W and a Seasonic M12II 520W. Seasonic is very conservative in their labeling. Antec and Corsair claim those same power supplies under their label will do 650W or 550W, respectively.

The Seasonic M12II 520W is enough to run any single GPU from nVidia or AMD. Don't try it with a dual-GPU card (nVidia 690, AMD 7990), SLI, or Crossfire setup.
