Isn't Johnny basically a toned down version of guipit though? He talks a lot about poop and all that.

So, apparently sylvans/deovels are in the game...

Just got the GOG preorder, and in the artwork was this:

The file name is "Diabel", but I don't know if that's the official transliteration. Anyway, what's your opinion on the design? I'm...not super keen. I don't recall Torque being grossly obese like that. Not sure why this is a monster either, as sylvans are intelligent beings who are pranksters at worst, and thus exempt from killing by Witchers. Unless this is supposed to be some entirely different type of creature, but then why does it resemble sylvans in so many respects?

Cool a fat Minotaur-type creature....let's hope he isn't just an enemy,i see potential for some funny scenes like with the trolls in TW2 :D

Deovel sounds like Duivel and it's Dutch for devil.

Hmm it does look like a sylvan, but maybe it's another one. I mean some humans are obese, couldn't a sylvan be obese too?
And maybe the monster "hunting" quest isn't actually hunting and killing him, but driving him off like Geralt tried with Torque?

You could kill Saskia in TW2 while she was a dragon, they could let the players decide what to do with this sylvan even though it would be wrong for book Geralt...

Yes, it means devil. It's the name some villagers in the story "The Edge Of The World" call a creature which is actually a sylvan. Other names mentioned are "willower", "duvvel" (dwarven name), and "d'yeabl" (Elder Speech).

Here's how it's described:

The creature was about half a rod tall with bulging eyes and a goat's horns and beard. The mouth, a soft, busy slit, also brought a chewing goat to mind. Its nether regions were covered with long, thick, dark-red hair right down to the cleft hooves. The devil had a long tail ending in a brush-like tassel which wagged energetically.

Despite the use of "rod" there (which is a unit measuring roughly 16 feet), it's actually quite short, and not a great big fat thing. It's also largely harmless and can talk. Geralt ends up being friends with him.

Good points. Hopefully it is something like that, because it bugs the crap out of me when games/films/shows based on pre-existing works alter something for no apparent reason.

Why would they do that? They were pals once all the elf drama was over.

True. That story, at least until the elves showed up, was like something out of Looney Toons.

Yeah it was, one of the most amusing fights i've ever read. especially because of Geralt. The fact that he degraded himself to that level of torque so he didnt have to kill him really showed geralts nicer side.

Welp if his race is in it , i hope it means that he will make an appearance.

Just saw this interview and one thing struck my mind about monster hunting. Basically, if you are patient enough and take your time learning about the monsters, you can disable their special abilities. It sounds kinda wrong, I mean, you won't experience a lot of (supposedly) cool stuff this way. I'm afraid that the monster fights will be somewhat dull if you choose to investigate a lot about them.
