Just a random thought I wanted to share.

I would like to see realistic behavior of animals. I understand undead and magical creatures are all mad, brain-dead, and bloodthirsty. Most animals thought aren't. If faced with a certain loss they run away and hide, most of real animal fights are just demonstrations of strength, not actual confrontations. Most of time is spent on assessing their chances. Unless it is about their young they have too much too loose for too little gain attacking Geralt. Neither Geralt from the books is a blood-thirsty monster. After scaring away a wolf pack he shouldn't be forced to kill every wolf that attacked him.

This kind of things isn't an issue for games like Elder Scrolls because they don't try to be realistic. To the point that I don't consider animals from there as representing real world animals.

In the entire 200 year history of the united states there was a grand total of 2 recorded wolf attacks. Wolfs really aren't dangerous, or malevolent on their own. However when a Werewolf, or Leshin takes over their minds with magic, hell possibly creates a demi hell hound wolf out of thin air than its go time. Now bears, and mountain lions on the other hand have dozens of fatalities a year, and will attack humans that screw around on their territory.

I don't like that Noonwraith has started looking like a hollywood zombie in The Witcher 3.

Only in France 7600 fatal wolf attacks were DOCUMENTED from 1200-1920 (Many attacks may not have gotten documented).

There were extensive wolf hunts throughout history, and some Government agencies paid for each wolf killed.

2-3 years ago wolves tore someone to pieces in U.S, just 25 minutes from my house.
Wolves are very territorial, and I would not recommend walking to a herd of wolves thinking that they are friendly. Because they will attack and kill you to protect their territory, even if they don't see you as a meal. If you are Geralt moving through uncharted lands, then there is a high chance of entering wolf territories and getting attacked by wolves as a result.
Why there aren't many wolf attacks on humans today ? Because of extensive wolf hunts in the past and habitat destruction the population of wolves has decreased substantially, and industrialization and expansion of cities have pushed wolves deeper into forests. Another important factor is the creation of guns. If you try to fend off a pack of wolves with a stick or a sword, then you'd better be as skilled as Geralt with it.

If somebody got attacked from your house by wolves that is a major event, and would love to see the news articles backing it up. Wolves in Europe that attacked people where an entirely different animal from American wolves. The basic theory being they feasted on all the bodies from the black death acquiring a major taste for human flesh leading to the comparatively massive amount of attacks compared to elsewhere in the world. Also there is the massively inaccurate record keeping that happened back in the day.

There are only two DOCUMENTED fatal attacks in North America, and I never claimed people get killed by wolves here all the time. In most cases if the wolves are fended off and no one gets hurt, the event goes undocumented and it doesn't find it's way to the NEWS. I heard from several other people who went camping that wolves stalked them, so they just jumped in the car and forgot about camping that day. But I don't see how this has anything to do with Witcher, since we are talking about North America and Witcher takes place in Europe.
The Witcher takes place some where in Europe or very similar to Europe and certainly not in North America, and during the time of plague (plague is a major theme in Witcher 1). So as you said wolf attacks were common at that point and time in that region, so you just proved my point.
As far as inaccurate record keeping goes, it works both ways. Maybe many attacks were not documented, or maybe they were wrongly documented.

The Witcher doesn't take place in Europe man its a fictional continent. Also notice how in that news story you linked it was the first ever recorded fatal wolf attack in Alaska' history, and Second in all of North America. Like I said that is huge ecological event given how incredibly rare it is. Like I said the records of ancient Europe from that time are horribly inaccurate. Based on ignorance, and what laughably passed as scientific method back than its completely unreliable for accurate statistics, or even corresponding to reality for that matter.

Becouse its not like there has been Catriona plague in "Witcherland" for at least 5 years... In other words Europe had its black death and from TW1 we know that at least Vizima had Catriona.

anyone know what the monster with the decomposing skin and weird teeth is at the end of the e3 trailer? it's just before geralt pulls out the silver sword. that thing positively gives me the creeps.

Initially I thought it was a ghoul but if you look at it closely you'll see that it's actually some kind of metamorphosis. Initially his head is smaller and the eye sockets seem too small for the size of the eyes but then his skull kinda grows.

I think it's the same type of creature you see after the horse race section (1:54). I don't recall ghouls been quadrupeds in TW1 so it doesn't seem to be a ghoul. Maybe something new. I like the monster design so far.

I hope they change up the sound(s) and voice a bit when we attack or kill the smaller monsters/animals and bandits over and over again.
More recordings with random audio clips that have a slight change in pitch & tone of voice acting for the small group monsters/animals and bandits, would make our attacks and killing seem more real.

If they all die with the same voice acting sound, be it a scream or whatever. It just gets old and well meh, same goes for the sounds while in combat, if I hear the same "ugh" sound and voice actor for every bandit that dies everywhere in the world it becomes less real. But I can forgive these things if it means the game will be solid and run smoother with out all that extra voice data. For me, one of the most important things to achieve is doing away with screen-tear & pop ups. Because the art style and scope of this game as far as I can tell looks flawless, it's freaking perfect. I dont know how they do all this cool awesome stuff, but keep it up red team.. you guys are amazing. ;)

So far we have seen only the griffin in combat, so we don't actually know how beasts/monsters behave.

If we are lucky enough, we will see the SDC demo and the Gamescom demo.
So, in all probability, we will watch the werewolf and another monster in action.

It's embarrassing not to know that ghouls don't come out in the daytime.

Well, as it happens, they do. Go to the cemetery in Witcher 1 during the day. They'll still attack you. In the books, it's simply said that they don't like bright light, which only rules out sunny days.
