Name & Alias Customization (The "Handle" System)
Instead of a fixed name like "V," the sequel should adopt a flexible "Handle" System:
Custom Name (Handle): The player chooses a permanent Handle (e.g., "Spectre," "Jax," "Zero") that most NPCs use.
AI Voice Integration: Use advanced AI voice synthesis (similar to what was tested in fan mods, Source 2.4, 2.5) to enable a small pool of key characters to call the player by their chosen Handle. This maintains immersion while allowing customization.
Legal Name Change: Allow players to pay a high fee to a fixer or a Corpo legal firm to officially change their legal Universal ID (SIN) name, reflecting a major life decision. This unlocks different dialogue or access permissions.
2.
Full-Body Reconstruction (Extreme Customization)
The game needs to expand the ability to customize your character beyond minor facial tweaks (Source 1.2, 1.4, 1.5).
The Clinic: Introduce an ultra-high-end Ripperdoc clinic (like a specialized "Identity Reconstruction Center") where you can pay a significant fee to fully re-enter the Character Creator screen at any time.
New Body Types: Allow players to choose from multiple body types—not just male/female—but also Borg (heavy cybernetics), Exotic (non-human features, as requested by fans, Source 1.1), and options for different heights and weights (Source 1.2, 2.6).
Cosmetic Cyberware Integration: Make every major aesthetic upgrade available, including full chrome plating, cybernetic jaws, visible faceplates, and external power lines (Source 1.3). The customization of your appearance should reflect the extreme modifications seen on NPCs.
3.
Voice/Pitch Customization (The Final Element)
As you suggested earlier, this is essential:
Vocalizer Cyberware: Make voice modulation a standard piece of cyberware. Give players a pitch slider to raise or lower the tone of the selected voice actor. This allows the player to customize the voice to sound older, younger, or simply different, adding to the role-playing depth.
This combination of name, voice, and visual customization allows the player to fully embody the Cyberpunk theme: Identity is a commodity, and it can always be bought or rebuilt.
