I voted too. Like most of the voters so far, i chose "it's already enough for me".But, i believe it's already late to express our wishes, because the game is deep in the development. (I don't think if they have create models of weapons they would leave them out of the final product. ;) )

There were definitely two many useless swords in the game and it somehow seemed most of them were available in the last two chapters. That leads to always choosing the same pair of swords at the end of the game because they are "the best". At least for me.But I don't get why that would make us want more loot in TW2? Maybe the devs should go for even less loot, but then handed over to the player more thoughtful? Talk about "quality loot"?TW1 made me getting used to Geralt carrying around the same (looking) set of swords and the same clothes up to a point where I was even refusing to swap Geralt's Meteorite Sword for the way better Mahakam Sihil -just because it was not his sword. Maybe "my" Geralt became more attached to his stuff, argh sometimes role-playing is a pain ;)But I'm sure there will be a nice balanced availability of "rewards" even for the more materialistic versions of Geralt out there without sacrificing the credibilty and realistic feeling of the in-game-world in terms of hidden enchanted fire blades in hollow tree trunks ;)Hmm... but sometimes I would even wish there were less monsters, but if you encountered one, then you'd be in a hell of a fight..like in the books :) Which wouldn't necessarily mean less enemies.. There are enough humans and non-humans around and that could even lead to lots of interesting moral decisions and complications. I felt the game was a bit over-populated with supernatural beasts and monsters, makes me miss the feeling that I had while reading the book of Geralt actually wandering through the kingdoms following rumors to be able to make enough money for a living. Yes, I know, it doesn't really seem to fit into a game concept. I just got carried away a bit.. ;)so bottom line of this: not more loot, but more quality loot and I still trust the devs to get it right :)cheers!

Yes I think you are definitely correct about the distinction from the books and the game regarding the amount of monsters roaming, and Geralt chasing rumours to make a living. I like the style of the books better, but I don't think that can be implemented on a pc game to god effect, and I think it is fun in TW1 to just head out to the wilderness of the swamps, cementery, etc, just looking for monsters to kill. I think not being able to do that would have made TW1 less appealing. :peace:

The previews and hints about the sequel confirm that there will be a lot more choices in weapons and armour including metal armour for Geralt. So those who were arguing that adding such option would go against the spirit of the Witcher and turn this into a loot-oriented RPG game have lost. 8) I look forward to decking my Geralt out in full plate armour.

Metal armor for Geralt? Sorry but I don't buy that for a second. The whole point of the witcher fighting style is to be able to move freely and have dexterity. Why would you need plate armor if the vast majority of your opponents probably are never even able to land a single blow on you?No, I think the first game's strength was that rather than customize Geralt with a ton of loot, you got to deck him out skill-wise. I think this is very much in keeping with the whole Witcher saga. I've read the books and I don't think he uses more than 2 different steel swords throughout the whole series.

I don't think either that that about the full metal armor is accurate. As I understood, Geralt now has the option to wear a heavier armor, like the one from the recent films, but there is no full metal armor. I agree that this would no be in accordance to the original Geralt. :peace:

i like a limited set with more and meaningful enhancements more, but, since looting has been mentioned:proper reactions and maybe even percussions when looting in homes with ppl present or awake was something I miss from mostly western RPGs. maybe TW2 breaks with that. I like how it's handled in gothic/risen. also the option to not kill but only disable an opponent would be cool.

What I would actually prefer is customized sword-forging. If you think about it... forging swords from meteorites is one thing, but forging swords from separate parts or elements (shall we say) obtained from other swords would bring a whole newdimension to the idea of "the Best" sword. Combine that with specific sword forging technology for specific handling conditionsand you will have a Versus type scenario which suits sword & wielder dynamically.Of course I would like an option to specialize other weapons as well (knives, hammers, maybe armors?) but the sword forging should be special.I was sitting on this idea this whole time and finally figured how to put it into words. Though such a feature will greatly enhancegameplay, it can still be corrupted by being overdone so it should be balanced.Well, this is my dream for The Witcher 2's weapons. Got nothing more to add, yet... :peace:

Well, maybe not full plate, but Geralt can definitely wear heavy armour. And he starts the game with chainmail which hints at heavier things to come. Earlier this alone was enough to have some frothing at the mouth('Metal armour is too restrictive! Witchers only wear leather for freedom of movement!') but now I see some of them have muted themselves out of respect for CDP.

I would like a weapon/armor system similar to a dreamcast game called Record of Lodoss War(if you have a dreamcast and like diablo pick this up) ..... In that game you used the same weapon and armor throughout but when found new designs and upgrades you would have a blacksmith forge your current sword into it. You would keep all the bonuses that were already on the equipment too.. They could implement it in this game with finding scrolls of weapon/armor design like the alchemy system from TW 1. Then there is no comparing just upgrading. It would be nice if there were alot more relics to combine as well to supplement it.

hmm, as long as you can have a little control over the weapons you wield as you have over your character it would be nice.i usually have 2 builds:damage + health geralt with almost no stamina and sign usehigh dex + intelligence with med stamina, low health mainly for sign use AND I buffed/forged the swords accordingly. you don't need a "more chance for incineration" sword when you never use Igni....as so on....and yeah, less loot makes finding the one good weapon SO SWEET. In DA:O it was just boring after some time. Usually I stick with one set of armor/weapons and only try to buff my char with spells, potions, oils, whatever.....much better than playing a fashion sim.

Less loot makes a new kick-a.s.s. sword really precious. I used to play Diablo II / LoD quite a long time. When there was a new ladder season, unique weapons and equipment were unique. But they were too easy to purchase / grind. And after a short time, precious items became junk on mule accounts... and worthless when trolls duped these items.I don't mind to collect several additionals to create an individual special sword. No full plate armor for Geralt  it restricts his agility and somehow every time I hear (read) full plate armor I think of Erkin von Blunt

Well, I personally enjoy upgrading my character's weapons, mixing and matching armour from different sources etc. An according to the fact sheet there will be over 200 options in swords compared to a dozen in the original game, so it looks like I'm getting my wish, Petra. :)

I dont see how you can have a weapons mule in a one player game... I did hate that in diablo, borderlands etc.. I liked finding my equipment myself.

Okay, first post on the Forum after registering today:Since Raven's armor was already mentioned...I hope they don't plan to make Geralt go into a small Village with two dozen inhabitants, go to the Dwarf armorsmith and buy a more powerful one. I think the armor of a legendary witcher is good enough. Having it disappear without a word would be also bad. Geralt should loose it in the prologue. Maybe it gets stolen. Perhaps Raven comes back and takes what is rightfully his/hers. And now that I'm at it: Raven's Sword(s) anyone?

You can never have too many different items in a true RPG (weapons, armour or otherwise) so I'm very much for a larger items data base ;)I'm a stat wh*re at heart and just love to min max my characters xD

Ok, let's sum up my thoughts about this.As far as I understand it a witcher has his two swords and that's about it. They're really precious and he's used to them, probably for the most time of his life. So he doesn't change them very often and uses different weapons like clubs or axes rarely to never. That's why I think we don't have to have a lot more weapons than we already got in The Witcher 1. However, I did enjoy the finishers that involved and interacted with the secondary weapons you had. I remember this one finisher where Geralt would kill a knocked down enemy by ramming his sword into the ground, drawing his dagger and just massacring his opponent with it. That was kinda cool.CDP, I beg you to include more of those things!Meaning: More small weapons Geralt could use in addition and not instead his regular weapons. It'd be great to see them in such animations, too. Throwing knives, aforementioned daggers or bombs could be such arms. Enhancing your blades with runes though seemed reasonable so you could come up with more of such "touch-ups". You wouldn't exchange your weapon but it would bring diversity anyway. In any case, ADD MORE MODELS FOR WEAPONS. I find it so annoying that the Temerian steel sword for example looks EXACTLY like your witcher steel sword.Regarding his armor I think it's a bit different. Sure, he probably gets used to this as well, knows where every pocket with herbs and every loop with potions is but he might change this one more often. Or at least tweak it (see above). So here I think it would be more reasonable to change and improve it regularly. Adding new parts or replacing pieces. The devs also promised us single parts like gloves and stuff so this will surely add a lot more items, too.

I chose the middle. One or three more armors aren´t bed but the starting point is also good.In my opinion is the place and the time where the game plays mainly for the choose what you can take and carry important. Simply to guarantee the atmosphere of the Witcher 1. A proverb says that less more is. I must says that I was in a Theater. Where I saw Ödipus and Antigone. Direct to begin I noticed there were no objects on the stage why I must use my head to complete these parts. I recognized that the experience more intensive was. What I try to say with this is that an experience not unconditional grow by enrichment of objects but also by reducing of objects.Sorry for my bad English. I hope that some understand me. :(

I voted for the middle one as i think we will need a better variation of weapons and armour in TW2.Don’t forget that we will be able to select if Geralt will be a good swords master, alchemist or sorcerer so we may need a better variation of armour.

For those who haven't read the factsheet yet. Here is what it says about weapons and equipment:
• Advanced crafting mechanics vastly increased the possibilities for players to create their own items: about 200 items - weapon and armour elements – are possible, compared with just 10 swords in TW1. • Many elements of armour – jackets, gloves, belts, knee pads, etc. increase variety for the player. There’s ability to upgrade each element separately, offering many combinations of armour, as opposed to just four types of armour available in The Witcher 1. • Composit-built weapons, allowing many different types of swords (about 300 vs. 10 in TW1). • Random statistics introduce additional variety among similar items. • New equipment system, streamlining and making gameplay more flexible, thanks to no limits in the number of carried items, clear division into sections, and an improved sorting system.

Generally it means we have more items. I like how CDPR handles this case. More items but not a dumb grinding. You can work on your items individually. This is encourages to forge a sword or armour again and again... on the next playthrough :)What scares me... okay, disconcerts me is:

Does that mean Geralt becomes a sort of mule char / warehouse? He carries tones of ... okay, many... swords, armour pieces, etc. ?
