Mouse map zooming

Is there any way to make the map zoom in and out faster using the scroll-wheel? It's horribly slow as it is now and it's REALLY beginning to bug me. So, is there a file I can edit somewhere that makes it so that I will zoom in and out faster?

OR, make it START fully zoomed out would kind of work too, or as well as zooming faster.

Yeah, it's frustratingly slow. No big deal for me, but it should be improved.
