Mouse response way too fast!

I assume that others have had this issue. I have the mouse sensitivity set to the lowest setting I can and it is still WAY TOO fast to be able to play. Is there something I can do to fix this issue?
I appreciate any help. Thanks.

have you tried lowering mouse speed in Windows? i don't know if it actually affects games but give it a try

Witcher 2. It was fine in Witcher 1. Logitech does have a speed setting and I have just turned that down but not Windows 7. If there is a difference I will let you know.

Well that was a disaster! By slowing down the mouse it only registers in every third frame and you can imagine what that does to control. I am flummoxed I have never had this problem before in any game. So I cannot seem to figure out how to isolate the problem.

any application to control the mouse running?

ummm, somehow the first step should always be "disable and quit every running application before running the game"

I disabled the logitech program and it helped a little bit. I do mean 'little' but every time I move the mouse 1mm to either side the entire scene starts spinning. The buttons under the tutorial don't seem to work either. I do what it says and everyone just stands there. I have no idea what it means to focus on one opponent as it doesn't tell me how to do that.
I am wondering if I will even be able to play this game and an enjoyable level. Sorry. I'm getting frustrated as this is the only game I have ever purchased that had these issues.

Ok, long shot (and normally one that pisses people off) but could you try either another mouse and/or another USB slot? It doesn't sound like it would do anything, but might as well give it a go. Also uninstall and re-install any Logitech and/or windows mouse drivers you may have.

I will give those a try tomorrow, tonight I'm bushed. Now that you mentioned it the wireless portion could be plugged into a USB 3.0 slot. I just rebuilt my rig because of a fried motherboard and i have enhanced this computer with a new Gigabyte mobo. So I will try that tomorrow and thank you for the tip.

One thing does bother me, however. Why would the same mouse work fine on all the other games that I play (Skyrim included) yet go crazy on just this game? What is different that could cause this effect?

Computers are a pain in the arse, thats all there is to it....lol

On a more serious note, I have no idea. The only game that had issues with a mouse (or more specifically HID devices) was Rouge Warrior, but the game was crap in general, so I blamed it on that.

I do know that certain games for some reason or another, have issues with certain mice, you could be a lucky one :)

Thanks.
I have always said that if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. lol

I found the problem. I had the wireless receiver plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Apparently the game settings and Windows settings can't slow my mouse down sufficiently when plugged into the 3.0 so I found. By replugging it into one of the 2.0 USB ports the mouse movement handles just fine now.
So if anyone in tech support reads this they can put it on their list of fixes after, of course, they have verified the problem/solution. I am using a Logitech M310 wireless mouse.
Thanks to all who helped.

Well, that's one I have never heard of before. It doesn't actually make sense to me - but if it worked for you, great.

While wireless mice may be handy and they have gotten much better than the original versions, I have always been a proponent of using a wired mouse for gaming for their more immediate response.

That is odd, since 3.0 ports downscale to 2.0 or even 1.1, ah well, great thing you squashed this one.

Wired mice downscales with no problems . But there may be something in Logitech`s wireless configuration that didn`t allow it . Could have been some interference with other wireless devices as well . Either way glad you figured it out and posted your solution . I`ll mark this one as solved .

Im having the same problem, but I've gotten it down slow enough to play the game. Unfortunately, I am unable to click the mouse fast enough to fill the meters required in the click fest portions. I HATE this mechanic. I have been trying for 3 hours to beat the Krayan. Even on easy setting, I have never gotten the meter more than 75% full. This is not fun it is totaly frustrating. If I had posted here last night this post would have been full of cussing and wishing the most horrible tortures and death on the developer that came up with this console type mechanic. I have wasted my money on a game I will never be able to even to get through the first chapter of. I've broken one mouse allready. I mapped the left mouse button to the keyboard and still couldn't push the button fast enough to get the meter full. Did it ever occur to anyone that some of us don't have thousands of dollars laying around to buy a new computer just to play this one fracking game? My wonderfull experience with the first witcher game has been ruined by the frustration that I am feeling over this unneeded, stupid, imbecelic, finger breaking, button mashing mechanic.

The end

While i don`t know your system specs i`ll offer some generic fix . Shutdown all unnecessary programs including ones that run in the background and try in 1280 x 720 screen resolution and in windowed mode . Also make an exception in your antivirus program so that while you play the game your av isn`t scanning at the same time . if you are not sure which programs can be shut down then give this a try . http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
Also set the game to low specs .

If my memory serves me correctly, windows has an option for 'mouse keys' (that would be a literal translation from Dutch, I'm not sure what it is in the English version). The '5' key on your numeric keypad will then act as a single left mouse button press, the '+' key as a double left mouse button press. Combining these buttons would at the very least allow you to input enough button presses per second.

If you've already tried that and the problem is with the game not recognising enough button presses per second, I suggest you try what Tommy suggested and turn all settings down as low as you possibly can for this segment only.

If all else fails, I don't think there is a 'console' that allows you to artificially skip this fight/kill the Kayran. However, you could upload your savegame and ask fellow forum members to complete just this part for you. You would miss a small part of the game, but at least you would get beyond chapter I. (I personally don't have a TW2 install on my PC at the moment, but I'm sure that there are forumites here prepared to help you)
