I did read that the monologue was in large part improvised by him yea.
Great character and great performance. And now I can't look at Geralt without unseeing Roy, thanks Bloth!

Dammit, now I feel compelled to write about Roy Batty. He's one of the best...I guess antagonists?...on screen ever.

I wish he was the protagonist, Deckard was pointless.

I'm glued to the TV for the Walking Dead season finale. Hope I'm not the only one.

I couldn't give enough of a damn about Deckard to care if he was human or not (though I think the movie made it clear he was an android).

I was too interested in Roy.

Overall though, I found it very overrated, as I expected. Nostalgia is a pretty powerful emotion.

I think it's overrated too, nor has it aged well, unlike Alien. The biggest mark it left for the industry was the visuals.

Blade Runner was great with using imagery to convey ideas. Such as the artificial owl in Tyrell corp, to show Tyrell's artificial or "fake" wisdom. I also think it captured (if not practically redefines) the underlying themes of the cyberpunk genre pretty well. It had good ambiance as well.

But yea its pacing was bad, its protagonist dull and uninteresting, as was the LI. The movie would have been magnificent if Roy was the protagonist.

I find this weird because the new Total Recall is exactly the same as the old one, down to dialogues, minus the weird Mars dream, except the new one has better actors and nicer effects/designs. Both ruin the story they were 'inspired' by, so it's not like either are particularly strong pieces of film.

Nope, totally disagree after watching the first one again. The second one was dumbed down right from the beginning by making "secret agent" the opening scene and the Rekall request, rather than "go to Mars". And they'd removed all of the humour. That absence of humour was what changed it from being a decent film into a pile of shite.

I think the idea is Deckard got the memories of the guy whose name we both forgot.

@dragonbird - Fair enough. Lack of Arnold's bad acting was more than enough to make up for the absence of humour. Although it's a good observation, I find a lot of new movies boring because they're too serious, and probably why I enjoy The Avengers movies so much,

I think that has more to do with the fact that you had been told over and over again just how awesome it is and went in there with too high expectations.

I find this too true :/ That's why I usually watch movies years after they are released, or shelter myself from fan opinions. Tumblr ruined quite a few new movies for me, I hate to admit it. If the movie is old, I come in expecting bad acting and can forgive some things (still can't excuse Harrison's poor performance in BL). Blade Runner has an incredible atmosphere and interesting imagery, that alone makes it worth watching.

Could be you're referring to certain 'events'. However, I've done this the previous two seasons, partly because I didn't know about it until it started airing here, which was when it had ended in the US. Then proceeded to watch the whole season in 2-3 days. I do think the books portray things better, as they usually/always do, but it's a bloody fantastic TV series too, and it's hard to put it away once you start watching. Can't wait to get back to my apartment so I can watch some of this in peace.

I'm certainly hooked, but I welcome a break from the backstabbing and court intrigue in season three. It makes me realize what TW1 did so brilliantly with act four. Maybe Jon Snow being outside the wall will shed new light on events as well as giving us a breather.

Roy is everything you said Knight. That smile man, gets me every time.

(Shouts to the heavens) The Hobbit is needlessly bloated. Azog's appearence is unforgivable.

Sam is a enormous part of what kept me returning to Martin's book. I'll probably hold out on season 2 some more and have a big 1-3 bash when the time comes.

I was just rewatching the most recent Spartacus episode. Crixus was just awesome there and although I have no real love for the gaul I do admit I loved him in this episode.

One memorable moment was:

Crixus: Crassus's army pushes from the south, if we were to turn west....we would be at the gates of Rome before his legions could turn to defend the city!

Spartacus "Incredulous": You would strike at Rome itself?!

Crixus: I would see it tremble! As the man you once were thundered when Batiatus fell!

To make Rome, the juggernaut of the ancient world to tremble in fear by a simple slave rebellion made me smile in glee. Especially when he actually DOES EXACTLY THAT in the episode if only for the briefest of moments.

Ddid anyone watch Ghost in the Shell?

I just finished watching its 2 seasons. It's pretty good! I was kinda prejudiced towards Japanese animes, and yea sometimes GITS did have some pretty weird and disturbing moments. But for the most part, it's pretty good and a refreshing take on the cyberpunk genre (less dystopic but still nuanced).

Motoko Kusanagi is pretty awesome. Saito too. The Laughing Man, Hideo Kuze, and Gouda are pretty good antagonists too.
Overall, pretty good!

Also, awesome opening music

Man we had a rainy Friday afternoon this past week. I guess Deus Ex put me in "the mood" so I re-watched Bladerunner and Ghost in the Shell (the movie). I didn't know there was a series though. Wikipedia be my candle in the dark

Game of Thrones new episode!
Who saw new episode of GoT? It was pretty good if you ask me! Especially last few moments when Lord commandor of Kings Edwards guard appeared before Dany. Great scene!
