I think they made a nod to Disney's Little Mermaid song on purpose. Which I didn't mind, it felt more like a fun joke. But I agree that it felt less witcher-y than it could be.

At least they didn't portray humans as morally superior (unlike one other recent animation does), so that was in line with Witcher's "who is the real monster".

Action scenes were a bit over the top, I agree. But they did that in Nightmare of the Wolf too. I didn't really mind it, I suppose it's for the "rule of cool". Witcher games are more grounded in that sense.

Yeah, it's an "okayish anime" but as a "Witcher anime", it's bad in my opinion.
I thought I was watching a Disney anime and that's not a compliment... Between the art style, the fact that Geralt became a kind of surhuman ninja who can walk on walls, jump at crazy highs, twirls in the air like a gymnast which is kinda ridiculous and certain parts which are sung... I have a hard time to finish it.

I'm afraid we will have to wait the next Witcher game to finally get some good Witcher content... I'm quite grateful that Edgerunner turned out great :)
Haven't seen Sirens of the Deep yet in full (only the first several minutes) so I can't say for certain yet, but I'm sooooo glad Edgerunners turned out to be a more than worthy Cyberpunk 2077 show.

I actually enjoyed Nightmare of the Wolf and found young Vesemir quite fun and likeable, but given the show's track record and the opinions I'm hearing about the new film I'm already expecting yet another disappointment. Can't wait for Ciri to save us from Netflix's unworthiness. Seems like only the Polish will ever understand how to make The Witcher.

I didn't see it as bad, but I guess negative vibe from the show spills over here. I liked some of the plot twists in Sriens of the Deep.

Edgerunners is very good indeed. But I wish they didn't kill almost everyone in the story.

The difference between Edgerunner and this Witcher anime, it's in Edgerunner, even with a very different art style, they kept the atmosphere and most of what make the game great. It could be something which we could have played/lived/experienced in the game.
While in this Witcher anime, the only thing which seems to come from the Witcher universe is Geralt, nothing else. Like I said, pretty much an anime made by Disney, staring Geralt as main character nothing more... And it's desappointing to say the least.

I get what you mean. It does have a different vibe from the games and I'd agree that games' vibes is closer to the books.

I think it's closer to the vibe of the show that was in the earlier seasons. Even though it's different, I did enjoy it (later seasons went downhill for some reason).

Overall I still liked Sirens of the Deep, especially compared with some other recent animation that has really bad writing.

Hmm ... Might be worth a watch late Friday night then.
Yeah, you should give a shot, not all bad...
But what piss me off the most, it's Netflix release regular top notch animes, but we only got this forgetable anime for our beloved Witcher franchise... I means even Terminator Zero not long ago was great, it's really dessappointing and quite infuriating.

I'm not all that surprised. Netflix has been cruel to the Witcher franchise for a few years now.

A Harry Potter TV series is coming, and supposedly will last for a decade.

The show will be on HBO Max.

I won't be watching it, as I don't watch even regular TV (let alone subscription services), but I hope they do stay faithful to the canon like they say they will.

Sheesh, the last HP movie was, when, in 2011? The movies are still pretty recent, I see zero need in this HP show, other than their corpo greed.

Also, the actors from the films will never, ever be replaced. Alan Rickman will always be the one and only Severus Snape, same goes for the other characters.

Rowling maintains control, so if they don't stay consistent with the books, it's on her.

Lithgow is a good actor, but he doesn't fit the Dumbledore typology. It'll be interesting seeing if he can pull it off.

Rickman and maybe Coletrane are the only two actors who I consider irreplaceable. The best thing they could do for Snape is find somebody who doesn't look or sound like Rickman, or otherwise the person is just set up to fail.

I had never heard of him until today, so all I can comment is that he's going to need a fake beard. :D
He's been around for a while. Mostly comedy, but he's done some serious stuff too. The common thread in most of it is that he plays weird characters. Not exactly the commanding presence I associate with Dumbledore.

I really love the world of Harry Potter. After reading the books many times, watching the movies many times and playing all (?) the games many times, I also hope that they manage to keep the magic in the series.

If they really manage to do this right, I will gladly welcome more HP stuff.

I have seen him in many places over the years. Just never knew the name =D Difficult to think of him as Dumbledore, but then again... makeup and that beard can do wonders.

This will definitely be a challenging task. Those movies kept going for so long with the same people and we literally saw the kids grow up. We can only wait and see how it goes.

Hogwarts Legacy already proved (at least I think so) that there can be a great Harry Potter game without Harry Potter, so maybe this one could work too. At the same time I'm also slightly afraid that we are getting to the point where we are starting to have too much Harry Potter. As much as I love the world, I believe that it will eventually start to repeat itself too much. Or derail too far from the original source. I would prefer the "Blaze of Glory" ending to the series rather than people getting bored and slowly forgetting it.

Agreed. The fantastic beasts movie series already started to escalate the magical world into absurdity, with rows of buildings being destroyed in public settings, almost instantly rebuilt, and apparently thousands of people at a time being obliviated into not remembering any of it. It's a far cry from the original setting, in which the wizard world is a charming underground society. We're only a short step away from Starkiller using the Force to crash an Imperial Star Cruiser.

I completely forgot these movies, even though I did watch them. And yes, they are already quite far from the origin. Even far enough, that I never even thought about them to be actual "part of the Potter series".
