Yea the only thing I was looking forward to, ruined.

The only thing I liked about it was Roose Bolton. The pacing, the music (or lack thereof!!!!), the excessive melodrama, the set-up...etc were all weak.

Yeah why'd they turn off the music would've been so badass if everything was going down while the theme was playing.

I disagree with how they did Roose,he just comes out of nowhere like "oh yeah gotta tell him something" and wasn't Cat supposed to go crazy delusional.

and ROOSE IS SMIRKING!? wtf he isn't some smirking villian. It kinda lowers his character to generic because of that.

He was portrayed as a horny teenager a lot of the time this season, last season he was cool. The only time he kinda acted kingly this season was when he was scolding Edmure which was kinda sad since his fathers funeral was just held.

Okay I've come back to my senses after my rather emotional heartbreak haha

I actually agree with this. I've been looking back at all his scenes and there is a rather large number of them with Talisa, especially of his sexual adventures...

...and about Roose coming out of nowhere, yeah that did not feel very natural. As if he suddenly forgot what he was going to tell Robb. However, I did like the part where Catelyn checks under Roose's sleeve. I thought that was done well.

As a non-reader of GoT books, "The Rains of Castamere" episode was great - even fantastic in my opinion.. i heard before from my friends what is approximately going to happen, but man, it was still powerful .. i was just speechless.. great atmosphere, great performances from all actors - just a great work.. i can see why many fans of the books are criticizing this show, but GoT TV show is still the best show and series in TV right now, and just overall a great work of a TV series

I can't say if Game of Thrones the TV series is good on its own, because I have read the books. But as a person who have read the books, that sucked major league donkey nuts. Not just the butchering of the butchering either, but almost everything in that episode. I'm so fucking fed up of them severely changing the story. I'm trying to be positive, telling myself, "well, it's probably a good series on its own", but bloody hell. I find myself shaking my head almost non-stop while watching this season, and I just cannot enjoy it. It's quickly approaching your typical Hollywood production where next to nothing stays the way it's supposed to be.

Not looking forward to the next big event they butcher :( If this is the trajectory they follow (season 1: good -> season 3: WTF?), then they may as well end it now before they go into Heroes territory.

There's no accounting for taste, but I find this just a load of bullshit.

Best TV show right now? What about Breaking Bad and Vikings? Oh you didn't watch them I suppose, well then don't make fancy claims about a shallow, dumbed down, inconsistent pile of dung.

What really got to me was when Walder Frey said: One of them was supposed to marry a king. I have to ask where in the fucking hell was Robb a king in Season 1 when he made that deal with the Freys?! Oh wait he wasn't. Forget about keeping consistency from books to show, they can't even keep show consistency.

Pangea: I might have to revise my opinion about Season 2 being the worst after watching this episode. Oh boy did they really fuck this up.

Well, Vikings is OK. I like it, but still I like GOT, even this dumbed down version, more. Can't say it is the best show on TV overall, because I don't watch every show out there.
But my problem with Season 3 is that so little actually happened comparative to Season 1, for example. In Season 1 we had a great arc of Danny, from a scared girl to a mother of dragons, and Tyrion's adventures, and a lot of events with Ned in King's Landing. If I to retell season 1, it would take me like two hours. Season 3? Probably 15 minutes tops. This is a general problem with a story progression in books, and I hope TV Show will manage to overcome it.

If the way they "solve" it is to butcher the story and drop a wet turd on the books, then I'd prefer them to show grass waving in the wind for 30 minutes a week and stick to the story for the other 15-20 minutes. What we were just served makes me want to punch people in the face (and I'm not a violent guy).

Given the near-complete lack of subtlety in the series, I'm pretty much taking it for granted that other big events to come over the next seasons will be grossly misrepresented too. I could give examples, but that will just spoil it for others. But to take one example (among many) from this episode... when they are murdering people who weren't even there, then they have dropped the ball in a way no serious production ever should.

Somebody (Veleda?) said before that HBO series tend to get worse by the season, and so far that certainly holds true for Game of Thrones.

Well I found the episode to be quite good. I agree, it was no where near as impressive as in the book, but still in its own quite good. Personally I found the attack on Meereen horrible as fuck! Mormont, Grey Worm and Daario taking on dozen of soldiers on their own? DUDE WTF!? And then not even a single view on the fighting!

Soooooooooo, Matt Smith will leave Doctor Who ad the end of this year and thus the search for a new Doctor has begun.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22741493

Personally I'm quite sad to see Matt leave, but I'm also really curious who is going to take over.

Any folks here who have some suggestions or favorites for who should be the new, 12th Doctor?

My vote goes to Andrew-Lee Potts.

I've been recently seeing more of him and I think he's an excellent actor with just the right amount of eccentricity to be capable of pulling of a proper Doctor.

Here's my analysis of the red wedding and what I think it did wrong. Also some epic trolling on my end at about 17 minutes 10 seconds.

Long Live Lannisters! In GOT RPG I always give a kid to Cersei. Don't see a point in hanging myself though, I would just rule my lands in peace.

I agree with your vid. I really expected to hear the song the whole time (I tend to sing it while driving), it would be so cool. The book was way better, more epic, and really moving, especially because I did not see it coming. Catelyn standing two feet from lord Frey and grabbing his wife instead was a bit weird, but who knows those dumb Starks, right? They do not really understand what they are doing anyway... Well, obviously, it should have been done differently.
But still, even if a show does not in any way live up to the books, and disappoint us time and again, it is pretty damn good.

Addition: I do not agree that writers are not consistent. Walder said: One of them supposed to be a queen. Which may mean - If you were to marry her then (as you supposed to do), she would be queen now. He is expressing his belief that his daughter/granddaughter missed a chance of becoming a queen of the North, which she would have become had she married Rob. And he is right.

Well, despite the mixed opinions of readers/non-readers, GoT is really the best thing on TV right now and all time. And if you go to see, Breaking Bad is great, but it's still falls short to The Wire and not much in league with The Sopranos. The Sopranos is still considered the best show ever made, and that would be no exaggeration.
And I'm biased towards Vikings, I simply love it and don't care to what others say about it.

Breaking Bad destroys GoT so easily and badly it's not even funny.
Also sopranos is overrated imo.

I'm starting to think that they made RW bad on purpose just so people talk about.

I would differ on both fronts. In fact The Wire and Breaking Bad are overrated, but both are still great nonetheless. The Sopranos is easily the best written show, one who hasn't seen it should!

Anyways, these are all big famous titles which will have many different opinions. Anyone here sees Sons of Anarchy and Justified? 2 amazing shows, very well written but sadly very underrated and unknown. I can't wait for season 6 of SOA coming this fall. (dragonbird you should check them out too)

I think GoT is far better than Breaking Bad. And i personally believe the Sopranos far outdoes both Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. Best show ever created imo.

BB has gotten to the point where Walter just isn't believable as a character anymore. It feels like the writers wanted their "Good guy to Scar face" archetype to happen so bad that they sacrificed a lot of believe-ability. But that's just my opinion.

I suppose something good came out of this travesty, as the internet have served up some fairly hilarious reaction videos from people who had no idea of what was coming.

I'm sure most who read it had similar reactions (although of course the buildup and event was MUCH better portrayed in the book). I recall being close to throwing the book across the room :( Soon after I was if possible even more aghast when I thought Arya had been killed as well. This moment was basically impossible to notice in the series, but in the book it was a cliffhanger moment.
