When it comes to shows, the one i watch the most often is Good Eats. I'm a major food nerd and love that show.

Outside of Good Eats i've been watching a lot of Power Rangers and the Super Sentai series to kind of look back on some happier times as a child and to wash the taste of a very bad kids show out of my mouth that sadly i can't leave yet because i'm working on reviews for it due to a failed bet.

I watched Pacific Rim a few days ago. It was fun! Nothing deep or that interesting, but it never claimed to be. It's a kaiju movie with big robots and aliens, it was entertaining.

It did have one interesting thing though, that of course was not explored, which is the dual pilots requiring a mental bond (literally) in order to operate the jaeger mech. I like the concept and hope that it can be explored in a series or anime or something.

Ah I'm not getting into his integrity or journalism as a matter of fact, my point was don't judge it just on his opinion alone. The Newsroom in fact makes mockery of these guys and practically many others, but in a sense the show is very deep down with characters you can relate with. It has it's flaws, but it's bigger than that.
And when it's come to good/honest journalists there are many left out there ;)

It's actually explained in a prequel comic called "Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero" check that out. Ties it up pretty well in fact, along with the first earlier look of some of the characters.

I'm looking to get into a good Swedish TV crime series. Why Swedish? I've recently discovered it's a big thing there. And I love Girl With a Dragon Tattoo. Any recommendations?

There is one called The Bridge (linky) which is a crime drama when a dead body is in a bridge between sweden and denmark. Serial Killer stuff me likes.

It's so good that there is already an american remake on amc (that will just air it's second season later this year) whose first season is airing, which is between usa and mexico. So far 3 episodes and that too is pretty decent (so far, I haven't watched the original so can't compare both of them myself)
another linky

Hope you like it too.
And I love the millenium trilogy too. Hope the second one which is in the making (english version) is better. I loved the remake of the first one which wasn't so popular I guess.

I'm Swedish, and I find most movies there use the same actors every time lol, although The Girl With The Dragon Tatttoo was really good ^^
You might like "Beck" it's a series of detective movies, and there's about 30 of them should you like them :D

I don't really watch anything Swedish so that's all I could come up with :)

Btw, do you know swedish yourself or do you watch with dem subtitles?

saw The Wolverine today. Pretty decent, better than Origins and X3 The Last Stand, though First Class still remains the best entry so far. And DAT END CREDIT SCENE. Do watch!

Interesting. Will probably catch it today.

Btw, do you have half an hour of ads in the cinema too? Bloody annoying. Paying a ransom just to see a movie, and then be subjected to that filth for half an hour, with the movie never starting when it's supposed to.

That varies from different theaters (companies) here. Mostly all show trailers, but some also or just show annoying ads, that too the most horrible ones which they show in buses, public transport which any sensible person would skip on tv. I agree that's like paying ransom, giving cancer to people everyday :/

What's worse, not only in the interval, but also at times before the movie begins >_

Just came home from it myself and it was pretty good. A bit predictable perhaps, but good entertainment. Wonder what those walking bridges were built of though....

We don't have an intermission here, if that's what you mean Aditya, but they play ads for maybe 30 minutes before the movie starts, and then 10 minutes of trailers. Typically the movie starts about 20-25 minutes after it's supposed to, because they are playing those God-awful ads all the fucking time. Absurd that we're paying out the arse to see a movie, and then they're still serving up filth like that. No wonder people prefer to watch movies and series off DVDs or streaming services.

Ah that is crap, a break would have been better instead in such a case (usually 15 minutes) though I hate them here as I seldom get out to pee if I haven't already. And I don't like eating nor especially hearing those crunchy noise which annoys the shit out of me.

Well yeah the movie was good entertainment. Next year days of future past is my most anticipated movie can't wait for it!

I'm watching Longmire, a crime drama about a sheriff working in a county that bridges the Wyoming/Montana border. Being a native, I can see through the subtlest of cliches they use, and things on that front start out pretty bad. But thankfully they are far and few between. And the series just keeps getting better as season one progresses, skillfully dipping into the personal lives of the major characters. The last episode was just spectacular, convincing on almost every level. Some of the crime details were like stuff I've read from the local paper. I hope the quality is maintained through season 2.

Finished watching The Shield, it's a very gritty show about a group of corrupt cops in L.A, of all the dark stuff I've seen, this might take the price, it's one of those shows were the protagonist pretty much IS the bad guy, but in some way you feel for him, and I'm not sure how. easily one of the best shows I've ever seen, highly recommended ^^

p.s One of the writers for The Shield later went and made Sons Of Anarchy, so if you've watched that you will find tons of familiar faces and references :D

Yup I love Sons of Anarchy, it's a great show and among my top 5 favourites! Heard a lot about The Shield, didn't get to watch it yet. If you want crime, drama and uber realism watch The Wire, the show is so 'perfect' I don't feel we'll get to see something of that level for quiet a long time.

To be honest I liked The Shield more than The Wire. (don't crucify me plz!) Don't get me wrong, The Wire is fucking brilliant, but I thought it was a bit to slow-paced at times. ^^

Yeah it's slow at times, but still it's #1 in my (and if practically speaking) book. I haven't seen The Shield so I can't compare them both but as you yourself have seen you might understand what makes The Wire very special. Right now I want to start with Boardwalk Empire just because Omar is in it too :D
