Well, mission accomplished. But yeah, one of the best shows I've seen in a long time, the characters are perfect, I love all of the subtle details and the general theme and environment of it. Plus, I have a soft-spot for rednecks.

New Game of Thrones trailer. This is exciting - the awesomer half of the best book in the series (some of the snapshots of the scenes in the trailer had me giggle with glee). Also, it'll be a good way to pass a few additional months in the wait for Geralt. That's not to say this doesn't stand on its own.

@eliharel; I'm still having problems with that last scene of the previous series, such that I haven't been able to watch the series again at all. I understand the motivation of stabbing a pregnant noble woman in the belly, but it still disturbs me, more so than anything I've seen on screen before.

It has actually turned me off the series a bit, I don't know yet if I'll get over it. The treatment of some of the female actors & extras also worries me a little, resulting in my removing myself from the extra list. This is one that made the papers.

The last 3 episodes were seriously mind fucking blowing, when you consider the so far it's just 5 (out of 8 ) episodes this season. The latest one was by far one of the best I've seen on TV.

God bless those those who aren't watching this yet :p

If you want some pleasant nice fun, watch Almost Human. It's not your highly acclaimed material, but it's very nice and enjoyable. True Detective continues to be epic but we already have another thread for it now.

And along with The LEGO Movie, finally 'her' is playing in theaters in mos countries I'm seeing. GO WATCH IT. It was my best movie of last year..

So, I watched the new Robocop movie last Sunday. It was better than I expected, actually! It´s a decent movie, entertaining enough. Also, Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman are great in their roles, and Samuel L. Jackson provides some good comic relief.

That said, this new film doesn´t have the decadent atmosphere or the violent Detroit the old one had, and that lower its score significantly. Also, the new film doesn´t have anything close to the awesome sadistic gang leader played by Kurtwood Smith in the old one.
So, the old one is still much better.

Teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy, the longer version will be up on Jimmy Kimmel Live today [well, tomorrow for most of us outside US]. It... doesn't look bad I have to say. I know nothing about the property, except that there is a talking tree and racoon with big-ass gun - and that sounds both preposterous AND fun. So yeah... I'm awaiting the longer trailer to see what else is there.

I achtually think the new Robocop is a brilliant, intelligent movie. It's been a long time, since a high budget, Hollywood action movie has not insulted my intelligence. The new Robocop touches on some current controversial topics, such as drones, mass surveillance and corporate politics. I found it quite depressive at times, as much of the surveillance capabilites of Robocop is not so far off in our reality. Anyhow, I recommend the movie to everyone, who likes thought provoking movies.

Robocop was nothing like as terrible as I thought it would be but still fell kind of flat for me. For keen movie buffs, I would recommend Kermode and Mayo's film review podcast:

Here's what the flappy handed one thought of Robocop:

You do have a point here, but I feel that in order to really work as you describe it, they should have toned the family part a bit...

Ah well, I'd take this family story over any cheesy love-story, which nowadays seems to be obligatory for all Hollywood action movies.
But I agree that the dark satirical/dystopian felling ist not as strong as it could have been. On the other hand, I liked it that the writers spent some time for showing Murphy's emotional troubles with accepting his new body. The writers could have made it much worse: "Hey, cool, I'm a robot. Now let's kick some ass!"

So i've got to ask the question, when the new Robocop comes out on Blu Ray or DVD, in your respected opinion would you say: I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!

Been trying to catch back up on The League. Forgot how much I liked it, good for a degenerate humour outlet.

I'd buy it for full price. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I want to watch it again in the original english version. I think much of Samuel L. Jackson's performance was lost in the german localization.
