Multiplayer and what you think it could be

+
They need to fix the issues with the single player first before they even think about multiplayer, there are countless small bugs and glitches the most annoying of which i sometimes just randomly die out of nowhere, always with an electric shock, even though i have immunity to shock. its always when falling a short distance. I assume its part of the fall damage system. But its super annoying and makes no sense at all.
My understanding it's going to be a completely different game done by a different team from what info I've been able to dig up but I agree, fix the base game before hand

Problem with any multiplayer of any kind is that they would have to remove anything and everything that slows time for one player.

I could potentially see a work around by changing how these features work. The Kerenzikov could work as a speed buff instead of a time slow, granting the player faster reload, movement, etc. For the hacking, they could change the current targeting system, maybe allocating certain buttons to the certain hacks (only when hacking) so that all youd need to do is point the hack at a predeterminly sized area around an enemy, then pressing the specific button.

Open world co-op only. Keep pvp restrained to separate confined zones. Anything like GTA online and it's a hard pass for me.

maybe different districts could be more dangerous on different days! like monday, Pacifica is the pvp zone for the day, and thursday its westbrook.

That wouldn't be bad so long as they don't have missions in those zones on those days.

All I am hoping for in regards to multiplayer is that it isn't going to be a microtransaction filled mess but I am pretty sure that I will be disappointed.

Pretty sure one of their goals with the multiplayer mode is to create something with a recurring revenue stream.

I'd love to be able to have fixers hire teams to help you beat multiplayer quests/raids. It'd help as an eddy-sink and allow solo players that don't want to be locked into a gang/guild complete multiplayer objectives. You could set the parameters of what you're looking for, be it netrunners, huscle, snipers, or whatever, and how much you're willing to pay upon completion. The fixer divvies the eddies at job completion, and keeps some for his take.

Maybe have the ability to hire a black market fence to sell/auction legendary/iconic weapons/clothes/vehicles to other players, with a commission cost paid up front based on value of the item. Don't give the option for the seller to set a price, that'll screw the economy up immediately, just how long they're willing to wait for a sale. Have them set a price based on vendor purchase value, take bids and sell it for whatever the highest offer is after the time period expires, unless there's no offer. If no offer, have it either get scrapped by the fence and parts sent to the seller, or have them send it back. Could add to the excitement by having a chance for items to get seized by the cops/militech/corpos and lose the item completely. A chance that increases with the length of time the player wants to wait. (Black market is risky, everyone knows that)

Had another thought, it'd be fun to start a side-biz, Night Shift style. Let us create a joytoy or doll that can randomly appear, for hire, to other players. Kind of like the jomsvikings in AC:Valhalla. Have a portion of their income diverted to the creating player. Could also serve as an eddy-sink, as most of us will want to buy them custom outfits and upgrades (and maybe the odd penicillin shot). Can also have the hiring player drop some eddies to record the scene for later playback on a rig that you'll have to upgrade to increase storage capacity as you go. Or maybe just a snapshot of them with the joytoy/doll. I'm thinking enough of us are pervy enough to want to keep a porn collection in-game.

This exactly. There is no way. Time slows down SO MUCH in this game. it isn't just the "time slow" effect, it is also stuff like slowing time so you can pick options while quick hacking. There's time freeze while inputting breach protocol. There's just no way to have that in multiplayer.

of course it is. But i don't care about multiplayer there is billion multiplayer games out there that copy each other. So i have played enough MP games. It's like Tomb Raider has multiplayer i never touched.

I can't see multiplayer being anything other than some form of coop mission. The game's balance just wouldn't be able to handle anything approaching PvP. In GTA Online your only skill is really shooting and getting a different gun is easy. In CP, you're either would have the 'meta' build that destroys all others or not.

This is where actually utilizing the roles from the core game would be good. Especially for PvP. Oh look, a bunch of Solo's. Hey Netrunner's, disable them. That kind of thing. They are also missing the Combat Zone which is very much a part of Night City. I do see more Coop based missions but again, if they follow the core roles, could create some very unique runs.

Something that some of you probably don't know but our characters are known as Edgerunners because of living life on the edge. How you gonna live your life edgerunner?

Ah, kind of like ME3's multiplayer roles? I can see that working.

When I want to play a multi player version of CP 2077;

I will pull the rule books off the shelf and call up some chooms and tell them to grab their dice and gather around the table.

... after this covid virus blows over this summer. Because i like my friends.

Otherwise i aint gonna put up with the random shitty behavior of interweeb gonks thinking that no one can touch em so they go on a spree of murderhobo-ing whatever story elements are to be found. Like they are some kinda cyberpsycho.

Inevitably, the first idea that their addled brain meats manage to put together afterward will be "Now that we rat fucked the story beyond all recognition lets go grief the other players still here ..."

But what about the megablock you set on fire?

Not our problem choom! <disconnnects>

Roll20 works well with Cyberpunk 2020

don't forget cheats and scripts to be used.

It would be like fallout 76 but worse.
These people can't make a single player game function, how the heck are they going to make a multiplayer game.
And a multiplayer game to do what?
What is there in this game to do than quests?

I'm more worried than I would expect from multiplayer.
There are still a lot of bugs, and I am worried about how many bugs will arise.
Even if it's multiplayer, the target I shoot a pistol on is only changing from a computer to a user, and it won't be much different.
Still, the city will be empty, other than shooting at the opponent.
And the battle will not be as free as it is now. it has the effect of slowing down time in single player, but never in multiplayer.

I think it's safe to say you would be playing a merc, probably will be able to go around NC and see other people in the same instance as you, and you would be able to do things like races and missions together with other players. Anything past that involving prolonged storylines with the various gangs of night city would be pretty MMO-ish... but we'll see. I'll try out the multiplayer when it comes out as I personally love the setting of cyberpunk, if it's good I'll keep playing it if it's not then I won't. No matter what if private servers come around I can't wait to do some rping.

I've always avoided multiplayer games for various reasons, but do think co-op stuff would work well in NC.

I also just posted this elsewhere:
I should encounter other "outlaws" like myself in the course of my career. They should also respond to my Cred...maybe we need to compete for a gig as arranged by a fixer. Maybe we could sabotage each other during said competition, or steal the job from the winner if we lose...

I don't know how most of that would be implemented in a non-MMO way, but those are the kinds of things I'd love to see as limited, opt-in, Cred/Level-matched PVP interactions.
