No one knows yet. It's in "R&D" currently and could potentially not even happen. Or it could come out as a standalone MP download. Could also be a mandatory update to the main game.

I think there will be multiplayer DLC added later on that's apart of the main game.
I'm hoping for a separate game and, if they were to ask me, I don't need multiplayer at all. Assuming resources are even somewhat limited, I'd much prefer some 2021 expansions to the main game that add locations and story content.
MP fans obviously have a say in this and may feel differently, but let's see if 2077's gameplay even warrants an online spinoff, or if the fans have enough of an appetite for that kind of game.
