We still don't have enough information, so I wouldn't turn on panic mode. Of course they will be looking for some on-line components for CP2077 and I would be surprised if they didn't, the game has netrunners for a reason. Maybe a co-op a la Dark Souls? You walk into Afterlife, where you meet other player's ready to take on additional job and help with with a quest/bossfight etc for money.

As long as it's not obligatory, I'm fine with it.

Personally, I will expect utter disappointment from the very start so that I can be at least pleasantly surprised if they pull it off nicely.

I'll have to see the game in its entirety to judge if it affects SP or not. Too many devs have made promises and then fallen flat on their faces for me not to be skeptical. The Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma route would be the most sensible imo.

Pretty much same thoughts. And please no social media features. Also I don't care what equipment other players are wearing.
Letting you know what decisions other players have made? Well you can stick that with credits I don't wanna stuff like that to ruin immersion.

Dragon's Dogma? That only has some weird NPC rental system, where you put up your pawn for anyone to rent it.

As Gregski say's we simply don't have enough information to say at the moment which way things will go.

I can tell you though that if we wind up with some form of compulsory 'to get the full experience' shoehorned in single player compromised nonsense It'll be a simple no purchase for me.

Hopefully they'll be able to sort something acceptable out without wasting months of work.

My friends and I simple have neither enough free time nor compatible timetables to afford faffing around with multi-player beyond 5 minutes shooting stuff in borderlands..

It took us just over 6 months to run through portal 2 for gods sake.

They are paying attention to the forums, to the fans... this much is alerady compeltely evident... the majority of fans have said that while CO-Op is cool, bullshit multiplayer with special maps and juvenile asshats running around killing each other is not the way to go... (though even in that, RDR did it pretty interestngly...)

And pretty much everyone is on board with the "mandatory online for full experience" bullshit is utterly unnacceptable...

I am happily optimistic about the aspect of online play.

Nope! I'm fine with it! Because I'm going to buy it,play it and enjoy it no matter what. It's a CP2020 game I wouldn't otherwise have - of course I'm going to enjoy it! Even if it was terrible, I'd still cruise through enjoying the atmosphere. Same reason I had fun with Judge Dredd the game. Drokk!

"If I don't get what I want I'm not buying" isn't really my approach to video games - or most products. "If it seems like it'll be fun, I'll try it. And if ti is, I'll buy it."

Because these are toys, in the end.

Need to know more, but whatever it is I am fine with it as long as the single - player experience doesn't suffer for it.

Deus ex had multiplayer, and it was one of the best rpg ever.

More people prefer co-op above any competitive multiplayer. They better dont compromise the main game just to squeeze crappy TDM or FFA mode. If they really have to make it they better make it balanced as f*ck. Similar to Uncharted series.. no invisibility cloaks like in crysis 3 or any other op powers.

Stop with your logics! Although I'd argue DE wasn't much of an RPG as much as it was...whatever it was. A great, fun, cyberpunk-ish game. With multiplayer.

I wonder if Wisdom has died from happiness yet. So far, every dream he's had for this game - open world, vehicles, MP - has been promised. It is most suspicious. Does Satan still offer that package deal of his?

The problem with the official game forums is that they always harbor fanboys who think the company can do no wrong and warp their minds to the point of insane fanboysism.

BSN is a very very good example of that happening

So in the almost two years since Witcher 2's release they still haven't fixed the pop-in problems, black screen/save corruption issues, broken blur, and Kayran QTE weirdness that they've actually exacerbated since vanilla, but they already feel that adding more complexity to the mix in the form of multiplayer is a good idea?

Oooookay.

My thoughts on the possibility of a multiplayer mode

I just read an article from Eurogamer where managing director Adam Badowski says that CDPR will add multiplayer features to the game. As an avid player of singleplayer games, hearing a developer bring multiplayer into a title which is primary singleplayer focused, is generally a bad omen. I base this not on a hate for multiplayer in general, but a hate for quickly thrown together, uninspired multiplayer features that were added not because the developer had a cool idea and wanted to see how it worked with the setting of the game, but because multiplayer is what the mainstream likes these days, let's put it in to increase our sales!

Obviously singleplayer games can have fun and engaging multiplayer modes, but the problem is that the multiplayer is generally down-prioritized to the point where they give nothing back to the game after release, and end up taking a lot of time out of the development of the singleplayer experience. I would say a recent example of this is the multiplayer which was included with Bioshock 2. The multiplayer for this game was basically a deathmatch mode with Bioshock elements added to the mix, and ended up being an overall unrewarding experience because of sloppy controls, horrible GFWL implementation and bad netcode. A good example of a multiplayer mode which clearly was rushed out and really quite unnecessary for your enjoyment of the game.

In contrast to this example of what I personally would call an unnecessary multiplayer mode, there are singleplayer games out there that have managed to not only add to the singleplayer game, but also manage to surpass many multiplayer only games in terms of creativity and features.
For this I give you Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory's VS mode, which trough it's unique stealth based, cooperation requiring and honestly extremely atmospheric gameplay manged to create an experience I honestly think I enjoyed more than the singleplayer(which was also extremely good). The secret to the memorability of the VS mode was that it was first of all extremely innovative(I can't think of any other game that has handled stealth multiplayer to that level of greatness ever) and second of all managed to capsulate the essence of the singleplayer game perfectly; you are a spy who trough stealth alone must complete your objective with minimal casualties and exposure. This is reflected in the game by how it was almost impossible to actually kill a mercenary, and the most common option was to either stun him until you could get away, or use gadgets to trick the security system to think you were in another part of the building thus making the enemy player not find you at all. This made the player feel like he was free to do the mission the way he wanted to do it, and gave the player to possibility to outsmart his enemies, a great feature that is a must for all great multiplayer games these days(see CS and every MOBA and RTS ever).

So in conclusion I'm not asking the developers to recreate Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory's multiplayer, or that they are going to fail if they make it deathmatch. All I'm trying to say is that for the multiplayer to be a success, CDPR has to take a chance and be creative with it. They should not, in my view make it a traditional coop(because it is a horrible immersionbreaker to have a guy pop up in your story and do nothing but shoot stuff while being invisible to the story), and they should not make it deathmatch with augments and future guns(because it will likely end up as a simpler Black Ops 2 with more customization). Of course there are just my views and preferences and who knows, maybe everyone except me though Bioshock 2's multiplayer was pretty cool.

Seeing as how CP 2077 is based off of a tabletop RPG meant to be played with a group, It might be something along the lines of a co-op campaign. It could be awesome, if done right.

I'm not too jazzed about online multiplayer with this sort of thing, but some kind of split-screen might be fun. The only times i ever really bother to use my consoles is when I'm playing with other people and we need a TV.
