Oh I'm sure it's great for PnP, or if I'm playing a video game with friends online... but I'm not big into video gaming with random strangers. I find it too distracting seeing as most don't know how to behave lol

I won't mind SOME on-line elements in the game, like posting your scores on a leaderboard or uploading your carefully augmented and dressed cyberpunk as your avatar on forums (for example) but I'm against including typical MP modes in the game, which is supposed to be concentrated on story. Waste of time and resources.

MP modes are usually thrown in to provide replayability and CDPR has other ways to do that in their games - multiple choices and non-linearity.

Yes, because I asked for something that entitles online co-op, that means I should go play COD. Seems legit since only call of duty has multiplayer co-op. Also loving the delusional responses like you work for the company. I'm not asking for a deathmatch or pvp, just co-op. Because, you know some people enjoy playing games with friends.

^I like your opinions, sir! Seriously, I hate it that every game gets mp just for the sake of having it these days. Just look at the new Tomb Raider: It´s so unnecessary and looks like a cheap copy of the Uncharted MP, and it looks really really bad, too!

Let them focus on the SP, let them give us the best SP experience possible.

So, you wanna kick some asses in co-op rather than deep storytelling gameplay?

I don't get why it has to be two extremes? I'd rather have an amazing story and if I want, an amazing story and to play with a friend. I'm sure it can be instanced like borderlands 2 so you can seperate storyline progress and resume.

You're bandying dangerous words about. Borderlands looks, plays, and feels like a game designed from the ground up to be a co-op experience. It is not fun as a single-player game.

Now, for Cyberpunk 2077, I'd envision something like Neverwinter Nights for cooperative play. Modules as well as the original campaign worked in NWN because you worked with a party to begin with. In this game's campaign, our hero/heroine is a lone wolf of sorts, so that's already off the table. Custom modules, however, could be balanced for cooperative play, and also stay more true to the PnP roots of the game, allowing the community to create what they wish, or even recreate old CP2020 scenarios. It also allows CDPR the option of releasing premium modules for a fee that are balanced for co-op.

The kneejerk reaction to the word 'multiplayer' is often some bullshit about deathmatch or how it detracts from the single-player experience, but this is a game with a release date of "When it's ready" based on a pen-and-paper game, which is itself a multiplayer-only experience. Without the limitation of a deadline, they can go whatever direction they wish with the idea of multiplayer, and I, for one, hope they go in the direction that allows the community to get in on it and still allows them to have a powerful and engaging single-player experience.

Open World free roam CO-OP is fantastic... 2 player, maybe up to four, but no more than that. (coincidently more than 4 players is when a tabletop game gets too big for most GM's as well),

What I don't want is PVP nonsense, or special online minigames, or any crap like that...

Saints Row 2 and 3 were able to do this remarkably well, and the way they handled it should definitely be examined for use with a game like this. Happily, Saints Row 3 ditched PVP muiltiplayer completely, one of the few decisions they made that I agree with. PVP multiplayer, with their little maps and extra coding required, just eats up resources and isn't necessary... there are a ton of games already out there for that....

I just had an idea...

I'm still against multi-player in CP2077, even in the form of co-op - because the game would have to be designed from the ground up as a co-op experience, be scalable and so on...

but...

If they could somehow implement online in the way that when you enter the Afterlife club, you meet other people's characters.......it would just blow my mind :D

I agree it would be cool to have a coop mode :) I really liked the way it was implemented in Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights series (and more recently in Saints Row 2 and 3 as mentioned in this thread). In the 90's, a lot of coop games (mainly FPS) were developed (Doom 1 and 2, Quake 1, Heretic, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Unreal and so on...). Now a multi-player mode for a FPS is only PVP :(

If you want to Multiplayer there're plenty of Titles you can grab. Of course it would be nice if Cyberpunk 2077 could be a "Platform" to host your own Sessions or Games (Think large: not just Capture the Map or else but, why not? Actual RPG Sessions) but this needs Time and moreover. Resources. Consider also that usually the Game will not feel "Complete". If you want to add several kind of Game Modes in a way or another you will have to "Cut" some of them. Some will be perfect others not. Personally I would like to see a wonderfull complete Single Player Game but that's my opinion.

Did you ever play to Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 ? Because, when you're in single character mode, you play a main character and when you recruit companions you can control them, when playing in coop mode, each player can create and control as many characters he want (the total of them can't exceed 6). So the gameplay is almost identical in both modes.

In a pen-a-paper RPG like Cyberpunk, one only character is not enough to play because each class/jobs specialization are needed.

Let's imagine Cyberpunk let you recruit companions like in BG, for example, if your single character is a Solo and you need to connect to the matrix, you need a Netrunner companion. So why not replace AI companion by other players ?

i´d sign this... at least a good coop campaign up to 4 players or so would be so great...and no, i don´t think we are talking about CoD or some other shooter stuff.... the problem i have is, as much as i love seeing all my good all p&p and tabletops becoming PC games now is, that i don´t play singleplayers that much anymore...i am missing the social aspect, playing with my friends... it probably will be cool to play, it will most likely be a nice story and all that, but i doubt i will play it more than maybe 2 or 3 times ...and maybe a few years later once again...

no i´m not talking about a 8vs.8 deathmatch, that would not be good for this game, but a story driven campaign with the possibility to join some friends would be fantastic... though i doubt that will happen...

They could implement online elements in a creative way, like in Dark Souls. It could be especially suitable for Netrunners, for example:

One of your friends needs help with a quest, so you can help him by hacking into systems, bypassing security and so on.

As a netrunner you can hack into other netrunners networks/minds and challenge them, being able to steal their loot for example. It would add a certain thrill to being a netrunner, you can hack others but also be hacked. It would be something like invading in Dark Souls.

Another interesting concept is braindancing, maybe we could "live through" our friends lives, always risking that when they die - we die too.

Please no. Trying to work on SP and MP at the same time spreads resources way too thin (unless you have a huge team and unlimited money) and you end up with both playmodes feeling kinda half finished. Especially when you're trying to create a big open world and you need to fill it up with content.

If they're going to put co-op in this, they need to make it local as well for console owners. The number of local co-op games that are available now seems to become lesser and lesser by the day.

I really care less about multyplayers and coop, i guess because I am much of a loner gamer, but thinking this game have much more to offer than just coop or pvp, I stand correctly, and NO I rather have a great story line and a gameplay as it is. And I know this game looks like his well sharp and very in is preservation to surprise us with more than just having coop and pvp. So i really hope for all of us and for that i am speaking to the ones that i dont know what they need to every game have coop or pvp, then have them in the future or in a DLC if this game do those kind of things, other wise i preferred to see a great story and gameplay much more than a pvp or coop. The option of having pvp or coop, is a very linear mechanism to create, so it can wait meanwhile they create the dream rpg that we want

As long as the single-player experience doesn't suffer for it I have nothing against it.

Unfortunately CDPR's jobs offers suggest that there will be some kind of MP.
