mutagens

Hi I was wondering if anyone could answer.I am having alot of trouble getting red mutagens. Are they supposed to be rare or is this a bug? If bug than I hope CDPR soon fixes this. If not than why? I have a ton of blue and green. Also, will we ever be able to combine some of the more common monster mutagens? Say like wraith or Foglet? thanks.

They are rare but if you go to the main island in Skellige then follow the path heading north of the miners camp you will find a fork in the road & a pack of Lvl 20 bugs in the woods just to the right & they drop red mutagens like crazy.

On death march difficulty red mutagen drop rate is very very low because red mutagen is very powerful in general

Hi

What bothers me is the lack of variety as to what they do.
I have acquired tons of them of all kinds and they pretty much all do the same thing.

I've combined the Blue and Green ones to make the high level versions and after that, that's pretty much it.
The other specific ones don't seem to be able to be combined or upgraded so you just get tons of them that have no real value.

As for red ones they seem to be very hard to come by, and I don't have any idea where I should go to find them.

I honestly don't know what you guys are doing wrong but red mutagens just like the others are easy to come by. I'm on my third play through, lvl 5 and mutagen farming is easy. Nekkers drop all three, blue, red and green, go to the devils pit in Velen and farm the Nekkers that constantly respawn there, I'll say within fifteen to twenty minutes you should have enough of any colour to start combining the lesser into the greater varieties. Also in Velen in the fields between Reardon Manor and Benek there are Nekker nests, farm the nekkers that spawn there before destroying theose nests and you should be good to go ...

Edit I'm also playing on Death March and Red mutagens aren't at all rare if you kill enough Nekkers.

Yeah, I was also annoyed by the fact that I couldn't find lots of reds, I had like a ton of greens and blues, but 1-2 LESSER reds.

Later, I found out that the drop chance increases, but you gotta level up a bit, there used to be a way to get tons of reds by killing a fiend near crookbag bog, but that has been patched I guess, there is a fiend there yes, but in the past you could meditate and it would spawn again and again and again.

But yeah, play the game and you'll have plenty of them to make at least 2-3 greater ones, at least could get that amount of reds.

Yeah, right after I posted about not finding a lot of them I did find a lot of them.
I still wish that there was more variety as to what they do.

They seem to have little purpose after you get the four that you need.
They don't seem to keep increasing in power or anything, and there doesn't seem to be any reason to swap them out..

They do seem to be much rarer than the others. Yes, you will get wraith, Foglet etc it just takes time.
