I've been playing on and off for many years, with multiple playthroughs with full different combat styles, some done in the first few years prior to the big updates.
There are 2 things that consistently annoy me when I'm playing, and with how the combat system has been updated over the years, I don't see any good reasons they need to stay the way they are. It's Fall damage and Barbed wire. Previously I was thinking the mechanics surrounding these were needed to prevent the player from getting to places they shouldn't, or taking shortcuts that aren't good for the game health. However especially with the DLC, I don't see this as needed anymore, especially with late game perks/skills/cyberware.
To be specific, when you fall more than a certain distance, which includes when air dashing down slight inclines, you'll take a small amount of damage and be staggered/knocked down. Whenever you touch barbed wire the same happens, which is especially annoying when while standing up you accidentally touch it again because it's at ground level. When it's preventing you from getting over a fence that's meant to be a barrier, or when you're trying to drop multiple floors, I can understand it. But there's barbed wire all over the tops of some chest-high barricades, and small inclines/drops that very frequently cause this to happen if you're double jumping/air-dashing around. In addition, the threshold between a small amount of fall damage and instant death is tiny. Where one fall will knock you down and deal 10% health damage late game, but another 0.5m further will instantly kill you. Which is made worse that the secondary heart cyberware doesn't even trigger on it. So instead of being able to fully utilize a mobility build to run and jump around Night City, and especially Dog Town, you always gotta be paranoid of every small drop, and whether it'll kill you out-right.
If there's areas you're not meant to be able to drop into and survive, make those have death fields/invisible walls. Those kinds of things already exist in other areas of the game. But PLEASE consider removing, or even just providing a perk, cyberware, or skill level reward that prevents these massive annoyances. You've made an incredibly fun game to do this fast paced high mobility combat style in, and falling damage/barbed wire feel far too punishing late game with how they destroy combat/movement flow.
So to summarize, please fix/remove/provide a counter to knockdowns from fall damage and barbed wire. As well as adjusting the instant death fall threshold, and Ideally also allowing secondary heart to activate on that lethal fall damage.
