My mean Witcher Machine is in Production!!

I have been playing The Witcher since the first day it came out on my 7 to 8 yr old Dell Dimension 8200 P4 2.4 ghz w/ WinXP Pro / 1024 mg memory/ an ATI x1600xt 524 mg graphics card/ and a Razer Baracuda Gaming Adio Card. Let me tell you that this little machine played the game very well on medium to high settings. I decided to get a new computer because I plan to be playing Age of Conan and I was getting tired of of buying games and never being able to measure up to the recommended specs.much less now with games coming out like AoC and Crysis where my PC doesn't even make the minimum specs I finally came to the realization that my old P4 2.4 GHZ was on it's last legs in terms of being able to play future games.^ Sheads a BIG tear^ :'(After alot of research and comparing prices I decided to stick with Dell as my experience with them has quite steller....I believe this machine will rock and play The Witcher as bad ass as anymonster Geralt comes up against in the game.....Please check it out and let me know what you think!! it is in production as we speak!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Item Number Quantity Item Description 223-5586 1 XPS 630, Intel Core2 processorE8500 (3.16 GHz,1333FSB) w/Dual Core Technology and 6MB cache 313-6078 1 Black Bezel Chassis 311-8298 1 4GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz -4 DIMMs 310-8028 1 Dell Enhanced Multimedia USB Keyboard 320-6314 1 NO DISPLAY 320-6362 1 Dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 341-6289 1 WD, 160GB 10K SATA with NCQ and 16MB DataBurst Cache 420-5769 1 Internet Search and Portal 420-5924 1 Icon Consolidation Application 420-6436 1 Vista, PC-Restore, Dim/Insp 420-7971 1 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate, English 330-0283 1 Dell Resource DVD with Application Backup 420-7622 1 DELL SUPPORT CENTER 2.0 310-9573 1 Dell 2-Button Optical Mouse 420-7468 1 ADOBE ACROBAT READER 8.1 DIM/INSP 313-6082 1 48X Combo and 16X DVD+/-RW 420-6464 1 Roxio Creator Basic 313-6085 1 X-Fi PCI Sound Card 313-4062 1 AS501 10W Flat Panel Stereo Speakers for 1704, 1905,2001FPFlat Panels 341-6283 1 1TB SATA 2 Hard Drive 7200RPM 461-8389 1 No Virus Protection Requested 412-0148 1 No Internet Service Provider Requested 412-1397 1 No Productivity Software requested 412-1397 1 No Productivity Software requested 412-0359 1 Soft Contracts - Qualxserve 464-5105 1 $50 Promo Dell Gift Card Card Card to arrive 6-8 weeks afterpurchase Redeem before 1 year expiration. dell.com/giftcard 902-2473 1 Warranty Support,3 Year Extended 950-7447 1 4 Year Limited Warranty 960-8700 1 Warranty Support,Initial Year 989-2488 1 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Extended Year(s) 982-6223 1 Type 15 - Third Party At Home Service with Nights and Weekends, 24x7 Technical Support, 3 Year Extended 989-2487 1 Dell Hardware Warranty PlusOnsite Service, Initial Year 985-7890 1 Type 15 - Third Party At Home Service with Nights and Weekends, 24x7 Technical Support, Initial Year 984-1639 1 Dell On Call, 30 Days Unlimited Incidents{POS} 984-1649 1 Dell On Call, 13 months Extended, 5 Incidents{POS} 310-8626 1 You have chosen a Windows Vista Premium System 420-7091 1 DataSafe Online Dim/Ins/XPS 420-7096 1 DataSafe Online 30GB for Dim/Ins/XPS 987-7469 1 XPS,Datasafe 30GB,1YR,DHS 988-0099 1 To activate your online backupaccount, go to Start, Programs, DataSafe Online 330-0172 1 S and P Drop-in-Box Marcom forDHS Desktops 320-6295 1 Ageia PhysX Processor Subtotal: $3,057.00 Shipping and Handling: $0.00 Sales Tax: $190.39 Total: $3,247.39 Item

for the amount of money you are spending i find it strange that it only has dual 8800 gt. i would highly reccomend gtx's or ultras since you are obviously spending the coin for an optimal rig.

I'd suggest you could build the same thing (or better) yourself for a far cheaper price. But yeah, that should be able to handle most anything you throw at it for the time being.

Ummm I would suggest you just build it 1 for the amount your paying you will get alot more for your money if you build it, 2 if you get good quality hardware you can have a lifetime warrenty of just about every thing minus a few things and prob have 3-4 year warrenty on those few components and not pay a ton for a 3-4 year warrenty from dell... As well as having none out sourced support so the people you are talking to speak clean english.=) Just a word of advice take it as you will=)As for my opinion on what your paying for tottal rip off... with the amount of money your burning I could build a system close to mine in spec... Just looked at prices on the vishonman line at tigerdirect, system line mine with 4gigs of less ram, but with two 8800 GTX's 1 WD raptor and 1 500gig sata 2 drive cost about the same thing your paying. Looked at prices of simular systems to yours 1200-1600...

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions guys.......First I must say I am no computer technition so I would not trust myself to spend alot of money on parts and then not know what to do with them once i gotthem to put the system together. Even if I did have the technical knowledge and expertise I would not have the time to get it done....Those are the reasons that building a rig myself is not an option and hence I am forced to to have an OEM buid one for me instead. Now about the price compared to other OEMs oferings.... Comparing apples with apples also taking into account the excellant warranty and service aggreement that Dell offers, and as I said above the excellant experience I have had in the past 7 to 8 years I have had with my old system, I could not find another company to beat it...Trust me I have shopped quite a few OEMs .Oh yeah! I will be replacing the 88GTs with the next generation video cards that come out from Nvidia,...but in the mean time I think the 88s will do just fine :p ;D ;D ;D

All I can say is show me the 4 yr warranty..that has in house technical support...that will replace parts postage free....that has technical phone support 24 hrs a day? ALL of these things are very important to me. I would rather be safe than sorry when I am spending this kind of dough....I guess thats the insurance agent coming out in me...LoL...So again IMO the deal I got with Dell was in no way a rip off and I am VERY satisfied! now AND from my experience with them in the past I will be just satisfied way down the road in the future!! I guess you could say I am SOLD...LoL ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well Its obvious you are a not tech guy with a completely different mindset trying to comunicate with a whole lot of tech guys who are just telling you the truth. Look, these guys change their machines at least once every two years, and its obvious that you having the only Northwood that was worthy havent in at least the past 4. That's why they don't give a scrap about tech support. If I were you I'll look into: Voodo PC. Velocity MicroPuget Systems.Falcon NorthwestAOpenEverex.Gateway.I'd let you know if I find any good Desktop System Review site, I was going to point you at a good one, hardocp.com for their old reviews, but it seems they took them away. I don't trust much what google gives you when you look for Desktop System Review.

Ummmm if you read my earlier post you would have seen I am not a technition and have never given any pretence of being one.....The only reason I posted this thread in the first place was because I am excited about getting new system that I know will rock The Witcher. On second thought I probably shouldn't posted the price or the Brand name, because I really did not want to get into a discussion about price, or buying prebuilt vs. do it yourself vs. boutiqe built computers... Sorry to all you techies out there. As far as them telling the truth...I never intimated they weren't telling the truth from their perspective....I look at it this way ....You are probably right. They are probably more than likely change systems every one or two years....So to my thinking if thats the case I ask you "Who is spending more here?". In the long run I will be saving quite a bit more than people that are into the do it your self thing as opposed to those that buy from well known brand name companys..... Again my experience with Dell in the past is probably the main reason I bought from them again this time..

I change out my systems every 4-5 years, Sometimes upgrading a few compontents after 3 years.... Building it your self, its easy... I have a few friends that know about as much as you do, That got sick of waiting around for me to show up due to my schedule, they got the parts I suggested for them to get, all they did was read the instructions, I am sure at some point in your life you have put together a model, a peace of furnature, legos, or any thing to that nature.... building a computer is the same, keep your self grounded ot the case, meaning a band, or keeping a hand placed on the case that is not painted.Building your self, you get 3-4 year warrenty on a couple parts proccessor ect does not cost you a dime for, and on the rest you can have a LIFETIME WARRENTY with 24/7 support with tech gurus that are not out sourced, if you buy the right parts. Aso for the computer I menioned yes you can get the warrenty your asking for for those types of systems... but you will have to go to the actual web sites of those comp builders. If you build it with EVGA, Ultra, Corsair, components you got the 4 year and the lifetime right there. in essence your getting jacked, and trust me with that dell it wont be lasting you as long as your last build... at 4 years you will be throwing it to the dumpster....ibuypower offers 3yrs parts and labor and lifetime tech supportcyberpc offers 3-YEAR , 24/7 LIFE-TIME TECHNICAL SUPPORTvishionman offers 3 Year not sure on 24/7 but with 13 years of building rigs I imagine you will be setand looking at their site, if you get EVGA corsair, an Ultra psu by picking the right parts your looking at lifetime replacement...But yeah telling you what I think is the better deal ect, prob not going to make much of a difference at this point since your mind is set... as for a mean witcher machine no, your getting an ok machine to run this game on... to sum it up your getting an ok witcher machine for the price of a mean witcher machine...

Well one bud the intel core2duo and core2quad tech is getting refined, intel has been holding its new line of cpus back for awhile. Yesterday Researchers at HP Labs just created the missing 4th electronic circuit element called the Memristor that has been a mathmatical equation since the 1970's... look it up if you want to know what it is but computers are about to change drastically in the next 3-4 years... so yeah you will prob be throwing your computer in the dumpster in 4 years... I have owned dells in the past. Around when you got your pc they started going down hill, used alot of them in the military, complete peaces of crap using aftermarket parts these days... you got lucky and prob got yours right before when dell went quantity and not quality... I built computers for people & have been doing it since 95... Sorry to tell ya your wrong, your machine is not mean your paying 2-3 times on what you should be paying for something that can cost under a grand to build with high quality components.... since your not a tech guy that changes out hardware, your comp will be on its last legs in 2-3 years... when you try to upgrade dell, will be trying to sell you a new comp... seen it too many times with them abusing the none techie consumer... funny I see dells in walmart now... that should tell you something.... so yeah ok witcher rig for the price of a mean one again... since your not a techie and have admitted it you dont have the slightest clue what your talking about when it comes to hardware...
