My top gripes with the game so far

+
First of all congratulations on launching this massive project of a game.
Let me say disregarding performance on lower end machines or bugs, it looks gorgeous and I have to commend you on the world design, VAs, characters and general art direction and sound already. The OST and Soundtrack are positively smashing as well.

I thought Id make this thread to kind of collect my own thoughts and gripes I have with the game. And maybe you guys can add to that and make your own lists in this thread as a response. A lot of the stuff I did find so far is things that IMO can be fixed or added to the game over time and would really enhance the gameplay experience by a lot. A few things in there might be a bit trickier, but most should be able to be implemented rather easily.

some top issues I found:

- character creation doesn't have enough options in my opinion, and stuff like piercings, scars and tattoos are not customizable enough (esp. position-wise)
- there is no "walk" key (in an RPG!)
- can not change your hairstyle, makeup, etc after character creation (barbers, tattoo-parlors, etc)
- outfits/transmogs need to be a thing eventually, even if you can just have 1 or 2 preset options saved at a time. Maybe use the crafting system and the wardrobe in Vs apartement to kind of find a way to make the outfits we like take over the stats we need. I don't wan't to wear a trashbag (exeggeration) just beause it has the best stealth stats and crit damage in the game
- the apartement feels kind of useless. its cool the first few times, but a game like GTA (sorry for the comparison) made a lot more out of this feature. Being able to buy new apartments or upgrade the interior, etc
- only one way to stealth kill/knock (grab from behind and snap neck/choke), I feel this should be more contextual to what weapon you have, which brings me to the next point...
- can't stealth kill with swords or knifes (or silenced pistols)
- thrown knifes can't be recovered (loosing tons of money here and good knifes!) Either let us recover the knifes or give us disposable throwing knifes that you can buy in packs
- aerial takedowns only non-lethal, no lethal ones available (like with a knife/katana for example)
- dodge button is double-tap WSAD which sucks
- holster button is double-tap ALT which sucks (any other separate non-double-tap keybind would do - I normally use H in most of my games)
- driving is pretty arcade-y for some cars. Not great on M+K (no nuance in steering), not stellar on gamepad either. Id love to have the option to steer directions by pressing right mouse button (RMB) and moving my mouse in the direction I want. Some games manage to do that well. Its not a top priority point though, its passable.

and a decent amount of other things. Most things I can see them fixing or adding down the line, so its okay. Just... did expect a little more in that regard.....

No mention of the bullet sponge enemies? I mean I get it's an RPG but it should take a magazine to kill a equally leveled enemy. Those Cyberpsychos are tanks lol.

Also, how do you do the from air attack? I spent points but every time I try V just jumps on their head and nothing happens.

Im loosing my mind with the overheating gameplay mechanic. I am continually getting hacked through walls. when there are no cameras around and no enemies.. Even if I lock myself in a room I'll be overheated and lit on fire. Outrageous

I totally agree with you about the apartment. Its such a wasted opportunity.

A transmog feature would be amazing, along with tattoo artists, hairdressers, piercing parlors, and plastic surgery centers. MORE ways to see your V in game. I know its a first person RPG and Im enjoying it as that but miss those things a lot.

Where are all the mini games? I wasnt expecting Gwent, they said something like that wouldn't be in the game but the cyberpunk genre is perfect for gambling. A casino, or shady little poker club run by a gang would be so cool. People throwing dice in an alley, some guys playing virtual dominos, go, or mahjong.

The ai for npcs juts out about in the world needs work, Cars just sitting there, people frozen in weird poses, not talking about the T-pose but that too. I know you have to reuse npcs, they cant all be unique but maybe some way to keep them as far apart from each other as possible? Its so immersion breaking to pass the same guy 3 times on the same block. It doesnt happen all the time, but it does a lot.

I do like this game even though it sounds like I don't. So much of it is super cool, but its just feels so unfinished.

My biggest annoyance right now is Jackie getting in my field of fire, every single combat encounter I line up for a headshot and Jackie walks right in front of me.

I love Jackie but if he'd yelled "watch out the cameras will see you" one more time, I would of punched him in the nose.

I hear you bruh :) that said, I believe this is CDPR's first ever "gun game" and they done alright by my books, the AI ain't shabby either, the lack of NPC dialogue or the same 3-4 lines is a bit bland and get's stale quickly, it's night city....they should be cussing you out or pushing you away or something.

My biggest problem is with the double tap to dodge not having a bindable key and the other keys that are not re bindable such as the F key and the middle mouse button used to unequip items.

That holstering drives me nuts. Even when i bound it to another key it is janky and sometimes all it does is switch weapons instead of holstering.

It is unfinished... what had happened was, $#Greed. - it's in a solid Beta state right now. - having just released.
Gone are the days of nintendo where games were completely done and could not be updated once shipped... so, as a result, they get the game to a playable beta and then hope the experience is decent enough for you to stick around while they keep working on the game. - It's a shit state of affairs really but there's not much we can do about it.

My only gripe which you mentioned is the fact that there is no walk button. Hope this gets implemented in a future patch. Either that or a mod can do it. Don't care either way.

You can walk! -
I'll try to draw what I mean...

range of analog stick on controller. from here " -----------------to--------------- " here.
If you want to walk you simply have to have fine tuned fingers of an actual robot as the range of walking is literally 1/2 millimeter. any more and you will be running.

"------------------x------------------" - stationary.
"-----------------x-------------------" - walking left at same pace as the NPC's.
"----------------x--------------------" - Full sprint.
^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ <---- what about all the rest of the range?!_ hahah.. dude the dept. that did the controllers in this game really dropped the fucking ball.

Aiming the guns has a similar issue as well.

Yeah I mean I expected it to be unpolished here and there, but it feels like they crafted the game world, they added the amazing OST and soundtrack, they got the faces and animations right, they designed the combat half-decent, same with the cars and driving, and the story seems pretty well done (although its not as deep as most other Cyberpunk stuff ive seen in movies, anime, etc across the years), but they somehow just forgot so many things that people were talking about from the get go. It feels like a shell of a game that is just lacking that nuance, that little bit of an extra touch.

Like, MGSV for me was the opposite. The side missions were mindbogglingly boring and had really no story whatsoever, it was lazy ass mission design. But the gameplay was fine-tuned to a T and there was so many little handcrafted details to explore in the mechanics. Meanwhile Cyberpunk seems to be the other way around. Great narrative and mission design (so far, Im not that far into the main story), but lacking a lot of elements

So far bullet sponge wasn't too bad for me. And I heard from friends if you level the right stats you can get 2-3 hit kills for most enemies, at least the standard ones. Which is perfectly fine with me. I can suspend my disbelief and pretend that a Cyberskull can survive 5 or 6 bullets to the head.

As for the air attack, I think you have to jump then press the interaction key (like a stealth kill) in the right moment. Which is stupid imo. They should have just made a separate stealth kill key. Taking enemies from behind and then having to confirm between leathal and non-lethal makes the whole gameplay really janky and non-fluid. In actual stealth games like Splinter Cell or Metal Gear you would press one key for a lethal takedown and a different one for a non-lethal one. And if you wanted to hold and drag an enemy you would hold down said key. Makes it much more fluid and easy.

He's talking about keyboard

Btw. I just re-checked and a 2019 demo of the game showing the first mission where you rescue that girl from scrappers shows you stealth killing an enemy with a silenced pistol. Where tf did this gameplay go?

I completely agree with everything written, but for me personally, the main problem that prevents immersion is the flabby physique of a male V. How so, in a game where you can select and configure genetalia, nipples, teeth and nails, you can not configure and select the physique? I want to see a muscular hero who believes that he can pull out a turrel with his bare hands, and not this runt with twigs instead of hands.

OMG THIS 1000%
Unlike a lot of people, I use ESDF as my movement keys, thus opening up more keys around ESDF for more options. Plus, ESDF is much more ergonomic for my keyboard movement needs than WASD, and being FORCED to use WASD makes playing the game extremely awkward.

PLEASE make every key, including the Interact key, bindable. Locking out the F key is a huge pain.

Also, ALL double key tap for actions needs to go. Makes for very awkward controls on PC.

You're not trying hard enough. I stealth insta-kill groups of enemies with my surpressed revolver.
