My WoW account

Do we have WoW players here? Today I received an email from Blizzard Entertainment Account Verification Notice (wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com). It says:
Greetings! An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here: WoW -> Legal -> End User License Agreementand Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here:WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated. In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account. To verify your identity please visit the following webpage: [link, which I haven't followed]Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and your continued interest in World of Warcraft.Blizzard Entertainment Inc Account Administration Team

I never played WoW and hence I don't have a WoW account :whatthe: Did anyone receive such an email too? And what does "account in question is being sold or traded." mean? I wonder that this mail doesn't name "my account in question".Is this a fake Blizz Account Administration Team?

I've received several over the past couple of months. It's spam. Be sure to delete them without reading.I've NEVER had a WoW account, and wouldn't be caught dead with one. MMOs aren't my cup of tea.~ Roxy

I think these things are randomly sent. It's no different than the Nigerian scam letter. I heard there are several ways for a scammer to get your email address. WoW is a popular MMo, and I would guess that the scam gets more people than doesn't.
  • They "scrap" email addresses from the web. Scammers uses programs to go through the Internet and harvest email addresses posted on public forums, in signatures, and probably profiles.
  • Send it to random email addresses in hopes that they catch a WoW player.

Thanks for the links. Seems this is a wide spread illness / plague. I have an other (junk-)email adress which was used for public cases during my job at the Diablo II / LoD fansite. This adress is floaded with all kind of scammer mail activity. The WoW account notification was sent to an email adress which I hardly use in public... apparently I didn't hide it good enugh. I have to check your links.
