Need help finding bottleneck

My CPU, GPU and Ram usage is pretty low when playing Witcher but I can't get steady 50-60 FPS even on low settings. The difference playing lowest possible and High/Uber is 10-15 max.

My specs:

AMD FX 8320 @3.7
Sapphrie Tri-X R9 290
Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB (2 x 8GB)
and the game is on SSD.

Join the club. This game seems to run flawless on some systems, and struggles on others. Both my system and a friend's, both can't achieve a constant 50-60 fps, even with turning off hairworks and dropping down some other settings. In the open countryside it's pretty smooth, but in town, cities etc, the fps drops to the 30's on my system. I truly believe it's a combination of the latest nvidia drivers and the 1.04 patch. Even trying earlier nvidia drivers doesn't yield better results. Whatever this bottleneck is, it has affected the other games on my system. I do hope they find a solution

hello mate,

try theses:

1 go to graphics meny and turn nvidia hair completely off
2 take frame limiter off
3 make game running borderless window.
4 turn shadows to medium/low
5 turn off ambiend occlusion

hope some of those helps.

Install MSI Afterburner and show all options on On-Screen Display such as vram & ram usage, cpu&gpu usage etc. This way you can narrow down the list of suspects.

Note guys above me that he's using AMD it doesn't follow the nvidia issues and careful Afterburner OSD is causing a lot of problems with this game.

I'd advise you to read the really LONG AMD threads and try all the tips and tricks first and go from there. I don't feel like repeating everything again :p Just skim through the QQ and read the threads about (using certain settings in CCC, using certain drivers, etc...)

Tips
OSD causes issues as 3rd party software like ipad second screen
Turn off additional displays.
PCI IDLE, PCI Powersave, video card sleep, cool and quiet are all BIOS settings that cause problems.
Some people had better performance on the old drivers than 15.5
There is a trick turning off action logs and changing the threshold to improve performance.
Make sure your CCC is set to performance and not quality.
Some said using CCC AA over game AA helped.

You'll see.
