Need Help Running Witcher 2!!

I have a Dell XPS with a i7-2620M 2.7 Ghz - 6 gb RAM - Windows 7 - Geforce GT 555m overclocked with MSI Afterburner Core Clock 760 Mhz, Shader clock 1520 MHz, Memory Clock 970 Mhz. The only way the game is playable is in 800x600 with fullscreen disabled and every setting on low or off. I could really use some tips on how I could make the game run better, such as the best patch to use for my GPU, best overclock settings, etc..... All help is appreciated!!!
Thank you

Can you give the full make and model number . It`s very possible you have optimus technology which would make it a whole lot easier .

The L702X is definitely Optimus-equipped. Using the nVidia Control Panel to force use of the nVidia GPU with witcher2.exe (I think you need nVidia driver 275 or later to make this work correctly) is the next thing to try.

This is the latest whql verde drivers 280.26 Verde
or the latest 285.38 Verde BETA

After installing the drivers then do the following
1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
2. Select: Advanced View
3. Navigate to: Manage 3D Settings
4. Select tab entitled: Program Settings
5. Use the "Add" button to find and add the .exe file(s) for the game(s)
you would like to use the Nvidia card for
NOTE : Browse to your game install directory and open the bin folder and then select the witcher2exe
6. Select the option "High Performance NVIDIA Processor"
7. Click on "Apply"
8. Exit the NVIDIA Control Panel
Retry game

Would it make a difference if im running the game off steam? The install files are in a different spot obviously and I found them, but I see two application files, one reads ACTIVATE, then another says LAUNCHER, which one would I use?

Neither of those . The witcher2exe is located in the bin folder . It doesn`t matter if you use steam or not .
