Need help with Cheese?

Hi

Sorry I'm not sure that this actually has a name to identify it.
But it's in the upper right area of the main map.

PS. When I moved away from the location a ID appeared, it's Aerama's Abandoned Manor.
(It must not have activated because I didn't approach along the road.)

Wandering around I found an abandoned house.
First I found a sign on the wall, at the bottom of the steps leading up to the house.
On the first floor I found a magic symbol on the floor (a Portal) and a note about making Limburger Cheese.
Upstairs I found a lever on the wall, and pulled it, everything went dark for a few seconds and Geralt says, I wonder what that means, or something like that.

When I try and activate the portal it says I don't have the key, but I've looked around for ages and found nothing else.
I even tried doing it at night, (thought that might be what the dark part ment) but still nothing.

The sign on the wall is gone, the lever can't be pulled again, and I've read the note about cheese.

Anyone know where the key it?

Mike

There is a vendor, I think he's in Oxenfurt Novigrad, that sells strange curios. You will see them marked as 'quest items'. He sells the key to open the portal. Unfortunately, I forget which item is the actual portal key. I bought all of the items on him knowing they would probably be used in some quest later, some of them I was able to use, some of them I was not. But one of them did open the portal, maybe you can deduce which one it is.

EDIT: whoops, guess he's in Novigrad...thanks Scholdarr.

Hint:
Talk to the vendor in Novigrad at the upper, smaller market square, the one who sells rarities and quest items, just south of the Passiflora...

Hi again.

I found the key went through the dungeon and got the sword.
That was tough, getting in was bad, but getting our was just as much of a hassle.

I could hardly see anything, and for some reason at some point the game decided that I had to run everyplace.
This is really a pain when you need to find those places that just say to interact in a very small area like the portals.

I finally climbed out of the water in almost total darkness and got out.
Only to find that the sword was not as good as the one I was already using.

Oh well, one more thing checked off, I've put off taking the boat to wherever I'm supposed to go trying to do everything I can in the main area.
I'm level 14 so I guess it's time to move on.

Mike

PS, the forum seems to be unbelievably slow and glitchy today.

unfortunately this is something that you will encounter all the time in the games, especially when you wear one of the Witcher Set. There is literally nothing better ingame then the Set (which can be upgraded 3 times)

This remembers me from a scene later in the end
when you get Crachs sword WInter Blade, an ancient legendary weapon
The small cutscene really makes you believe it's something awesome, then you look at it and think" Oh lvl 19...and worse stats then my lvl 26 sword...welllllll....maybe the vendor will be happy:.."

Why don't you use the torch in dark places? And you can also ignite many fireplaces to bring light to dark dungeons. ;)
