Need tool description ?

Hi all,

We are a small team exploring the Redkit and in the same time trying to gather all the information we can on the RedKit.
Our goal is also to make a very accessible guide for new comers and noobs like me

Can someone give me a small, simple and clear descriptions of the tools listed below. What are they used for?

  • RED Strings application (RedStrings.exe)

  • User Content Cooker application (userContentCooker.exe)

  • User Content Manager application (userContentManager.exe)

Thanks for the answer.

RED Strings application (RedStrings.exe)
mainly used to manage the strings of the dialogues and books.
(Since it lasts too long for me to load I prefer using the SQLite Manager plugin for Firefox for example (view attachment))

The vanilla strings are located in the database base.sqlite, folder The Witcher 2\bin
Since user created strings seem to be gathered in a user.sqlite it's a good idea to start with RedStrings.exe first.

All your dialogue is stored in a file called user.sqlite located in The Witcher 2\bin. Make sure to regularly create backups of this file.

As an example on the use of RedStrings.exe view:
http://wiki.cdprojektred.com/redkit/Potions+and+recipes for example.

There is some advanced description on the databases here:

User Content Cooker application (userContentCooker.exe)
as it name tells: used to cook user content to be used as a mod for The Witcher 2

User Content Manager application (userContentManager.exe)
Displays the list of installed user mods to chose.

SQLite manager (as a substitute for RedStrings.exe)
