The most important thing for more immersion is to get the camera closer to Geralt. I'm using absolute camera, which let's you customize your camera in each area (combat, exploration, horse riding, sailing etc.)

- AMM (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/780/?)
Awesome mod. Being able to wear your favourite outfit (or mix of different outfits) without caring for stats.
- Random ecnounters(
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/785/?)
Great mod, especially with the last update which spawn Wild Hunt groups. The Wild Hunt barely appears during the game because they are one of the worst written villains in gaming history. With this mod, you can have them as a constant threat , which makes them a little bit better in the game context. You can of course spawn almost every enemy group in the game and it's highly customizable.
- better combat enhanced (

Very important. This mod fixes the problem with the base game, that the game becomes easier and easier after the first 10-15 hours. I did a full (150+ hours) playthrough with this mod and the dfficulty stayed more or less the same during the whole game (much more difficult than the base game on Death March but never unfair) I actually think I died more in the last 1/3 of the game than in the first 1/3.
Additionaly - Slots, slots, slots (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/496/?)
Get's rid of the 12 slots limit
- Basic Needs (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/783/?)
This mod simulates hunger, thirst and fatigue and gives food and drinks a purpose.
The debuff can be annoying so I also use a mod which shows buffs and debuffs only in the radial menu (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/505/?)
-Alchemy overhaul (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1318/?)
Makes the Witcher 3 alchemy system similar to the Witcher 1 one. No auto refill and a fragmentation of the ingredients in Aether, Rebis, Quebrith, Vitriol, Hydragenum and Vermilion with you being able to manuelly change the necessary ingredients for a potion, oil or bomb.
- Extended HUD (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/892/?)
Fully customizable HUD.+ other features (I believe it also get's rid of the auto-centered camera when you are on your horse)
- All NPC scabbards (
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1206/?)
- Then there are several smaller mods which make the game more realistic or spectacular. I'm using several mods which make the game more brutal (always dismember, always finish and more blood) and two additonal mods (removal of underwear during sex scenes and other places like the sauna in which it shouldn't be there in the first place and wouldn't be there if CDP didn't go 100% mainstream with Witcher 3)+ one of the many mods which adds genitals to the female characters)
Shouldn't be too difficult to find these mods on nexus
- Then of course the standard ,mostly visual enhancements. STLM and/or a reshade, Ice Breath, HD textures redone, Volumetric Clouds.
There isn't a mod for everything so I also used some "house rules"
- No fast travel if it's not inevitable. This way I found about 15 new little quests and happenings (a group of nekkers attacking a troll for instance) which I missed in my previous two playthroughts and got a overall beter experience. If I had to use fast travel I made it realistic. If I wanted to go to Vizima or White Orchard I had to use the fast travel point in the east of Velen next to the Nilfgaardian army camp. If I wanted to travel to Skellige I had to use the fast travel point in the Novigrad harbour.
- Meditating simulates sleeping and is only allowed in inns. I wasn't using any alchemy mod on my latest playthrough so I had to do something against the possibility to use all potions during a single fight and then just meditate for 1 hour after the encounter to just refill all of them.
This way I had to use my potions intelligently and actually used all of them. Furthermore I had to pay the innkeeper (buying something from him for a certain value) for letting me sleep in his inn. This helped against the ridiculously high amount of money Geralt had. At least at the beginning. Unfortunately the economy is so broken that Geralt get's rich at some point and I haven't found a economy rebalance mod yet, which simulates the "always broken" life of books Geralt.
- No stealing. Also helped with Geralt getting too much money at the beginning.

Is there a working 1.12 version of this mod (animations only outside of combat)?
Someone in the comments section updated the mod but apparently only the base version.
