Nekotama tech sniper, unlimited penetration?

Title.

As the in-game description says, the weapon can shoot through objects (scoped charged shot), but it doesn't seem to have any limits to how many objects it can penetrate.
I marked a bunch of Maelstrom goons with ping and ran away around a block with several crates and constructs and buildings and whatnot in between and I could shoot them all with charged shots.

Is this intended feature?

As someone who rerolled but got pretty far with a tech character (18), it COULD be, but just speculation - that the overcharge improvement perks grants bigger and bigger penetration. I started noticing after a while that my penetration got better and better. At a guess, tooltip maybe missing from some perks. Or it simply isn't stated anywhere. It could also just be the weapon that has very very strong pen.

I've been testing this a bit more now but yeah, generally just ping whatever object in the area to highlight all goons etc. linked to it, then you can just shoot all the red silhouettes you see through whatever walls and obstacles there is inbetween.

I don't have any perks related to improving tech weapons or overcharge either, just the gun I found.
