New 2.3 Yaiba car quest (Motorbreath) bugged after 1st time fail

After receiving the MOTORBREATH quest, and River sends the coordinates for the spotted yaiba car on the highway,
found it, but while chasing it, some freaked out npc gonk rear ended me like a lunatic, sending me flying all over the place.
This resulted in losing the yaiba car.

After that, there's no new message that the car has been spotted again.
Waited like 10 in game days, nothing. So this means there's no way to get the new car if you failed it the first time?

I've seen many on the internet with the same problem all looking for a solution...
(and please don't say to reload an earlier save)

I have an issue where the car spawns without the drivers so I'm stuck on the 'pursue the car' objective of the quest, worse still is the road block left further down the road as a result of the quest. I tried validating files but that didnt fix it. Gotta wonder how much QA was done for this patch

In some cases there may be a different workaround but yes, unfortunately quite often loading an earlier save games is the easiest fix for issues like that. That being said, if you are on PC the support team might be able to do something about it.

I had a weird experience with MOTORBREATH and eventually succeeded.
The first time I was on the overpass looking for the Semimaru, I found Nova Maccaster and Jax Forgrave just standing there - stationary, with no car.

I sliced them, they died, gave me Eddies and points, then they came back, I did this 5-10 times more - more Eddies and more points. Finally, I left.
This only happened the first time.

After calling River and trying several more times, I finally drove a car to the overpass , chased the Semimaru and shot at it. It stopped and Nova and Jax fought with me.

Now, I'm touring Night City in the Semimaru.
