New AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta for Windows® recommended for The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt

New AMD Drivers for Witcher 3
AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta for Windows®

This driver release is recommended for The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt and Project Cars.

---------- Updated at 03:03 PM ----------

Just a Notice, may be nothing but my PC crashed on 1st Attempt, Mid driver install, was strange as PC didn't actually shut down yet I got a failed Boot up Black Screen.
I've seen it before when Windows fails to find any boot files.

Did hard Restart just fine though.
2nd time didn't install the Driver but did install the control center and Driver may just have been restored to 15.4 Beta I already had.
3rd Time everything was installed as it should have been 1st time.

Probably just bad luck, but I got it done after 3 attempts and 2nd may have been normal after the crash, restoring old driver?

Witcher 3 ran just fine on a 280X with driver 15.4.1 on W8.1 x64 and using the Tessellation Override.

Will see if 15.5 does anything.

My PC updated to 15.5 perfectly for my R9-270. As far as performance, I haven't seen a big difference, except when the wind is really blowing, it doesn't drop in FPS as much. I get 40-45 FPS and drop to 35 FPS with the wind blowing. Driver 15.4, I would get 40-45 FPS, but would drop to 30-32 Fps with wind blowing. Of course, with a 270, I have to have hairworks off, and sharpening on medium or low to get those framerates.
I will say with all same settings, it looks a lot crisper

It is highly recommended for dual-card users since it comes with a new CrossFire profile that enables the CF in the game.

For single-card users it will not make a big difference.

What is your CPU and graphics setting? I'm running with i5 750 and 270x, high/medium mix... and I'm getting around 30 FPS in Velen. 27 FPS in Novigrad

V-Sync- off, Max FR- unl, REs 1920x1200, HW- off, Shadow-medium, background-low, Terrain- ultra, water-high, grass-ultra, Texture-ultra, foliage-high, detail-ultra,
Sharpening-high, AO-SSAO, DOF-on. Cromatic AB-on, Vignetting-on Light shafts- off. I am running a FX 6300 oc to 4.1 ghz and my 270 is maxed. 8gb of 1866 ram

I googled witcher frame rates, and found a post of draws on frame rates most. Then I just run Fraps, and play with the settings, until I get the most frame rates, ans best visual exp.
The wind storms seem to kill my frame rates

Make sure shadows are on low
Make sure hairworks is off
If you don't have issues turn vsync off.
If you have SLI or Crossfire try frames unlimited.
If your FPS bounces a lot and isn't at 60fps turn it to 30 fps.

I thought Tech forum was the place to post when I did, yesterday.

Oh never forget to uninstall previous drivers ! use DDU because people are still surprised their games are not working as intented ...
PC is just a Console you can upgrade at your will. Sure it's a deal because it requires more attention than pushing the button ON/OFF.

I'm on R9 290. Having quite smooth framerates, in fact very smooth. 2560x1440, Shadows on High, Textures on Ultra, Terrain on Ultra, Foliage, Water, etc on High. Turn off blurring, turn off AA, turn off DOF. Don't need them as that's my visual preference. Didn't notice much jaggies as my resolutions are quite high.
