Interesting. Though I'm not interested.
AssCreed 3 was the last straw. Shit game design, poorly told story, idiotic ending. I'm so happy I didn't buy the damn game. Some good things, I really liked the culture, seeing the indians and hearing them talk. That was amazing. Animations were awesome. Using the tomahawk was orgasmic. It was so satisfying to be running and execute a moving takedown, seamlessly killing a guy and continuing to run. Just great stuff. Connor was pretty cool though could have been stronger. Again, writing was weak as hell.
So yeah. It's a little depressing that AssCreed is so popular despite being so bland. Or perhaps that's exactly why it does so well - its gameplay mechanics are just a hodge podge of different ideas thrown in a bucket to appeal to as many people as possible. People like sandboxes, make it a sandbox. People like parkour, implement parkour. People like action but there's also a minority that likes stealth, give players the option to do both.
Instead of concentrating and doing one aspect really well, it all just bleeds together to contradict the gameplay, and the level design is attrocious, working AGAINST the combat, rather than supporting it. There's no flow in free running and transitioning from running away from enemies to parkour is a joke.
To quote Letho of Gulet: There's no accounting for taste. But I don't get how people can so blindly throw money at AssCreed. The first one was intriguing and had an atmosphere unmatched by most current AAA games. That one had shit game design as well, but at least it had a charm to it, a soul. I get the feeling like the developers care. Now AssCreed is a yearly money making machine. Fuck innovation, quality or passion, gotta make that profit!
Fuck it, I'm just gonna leave this here. This vid sums it all up.
