New CG Cinematic for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Shows Geralt “Killing Monsters”

We are proud to present The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Killing Monsters cinematic trailer to the public for the first time, offering a thrilling glimpse into the morally ambiguous universe of Geralt of Rivia.
Killing Monsters portrays the cruel and gritty world of The Witcher and foreshadows the mature mood of the upcoming story-driven RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2014.
Actions speak louder than words. We wanted this short movie to communicate that Geralt, despite being seen as a sellsword by many, has his own code of conduct and operates outside of the dirty morality of the world he lives in, said Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED.
Killing Monsters was a great opportunity to show the ambience of No Mans Land - one of the vast areas in the game that the players will visit during their adventure. The overwhelming feeling of despair can be quite shocking, especially when you consider who the real monster is, Badowski added.

So, Nilfgaardians are monsters because they are invaders. Looters, even though they kill off wounded, and do a lot of crap, are lesser evil or something. Obviously no one in CDPR has ever been in a war zone. Marauding is a big problem, and in any conflict both sides behave the same. When I was on a service, we had our share of looters and marauders to deal with. Enemy combatants did exactly the same, because it is a general problem, and not about who is under what banners. I wouldn't have wanted somebody gets cut loose on us, from some interesting moral standpoint I simply do not get.

This is just a 3 min CGİ... I'm pretty sure of that there will be "monsters" on both sides.

@vivaxardas This is only my personal opinion and my opinion is not necessarily the opinion of CD Projekt Red and all this stuff. I only say this as a big witcher fan! So now that we have it out of the way, I think it is very simple. We know the character of Geralt. He does not judge if killing the woman is better for a greater good, he judges what he sees. He sees a group of men abusing a woman and intending to kill her. So he acts. I actually like that a lot. :)

Even given the limited fidelity on Youtube, that video hit for six. Is that representative of in-game decisions and combat possibilities?

They are not really abusing her, they are preparing to hang her for a crime. Geralt did not cut loose on Loredo for hanging an elven girl in Flotsam, so he is not such a big protector of women after all. And by my lights looting and killing off wounded is way bigger crime, and pretty much inexcusable.

I bet everyone pro-Nilfgardian, is untill they end up on the short end of the stick
Some logic. Black ones are invading, they act as they do on controlled territory - so it just happens they are Nilfgardian. I bet Geralt doesnt give two thoughts about it anyhoo.
Besides, he got paid beforehand so its a win-win scenario in my book
