New demo introduces a new quest

CDPR has a new demo version out for press presentations. PC Games Germany http://www.pcgames.de/PC-Games-Brands-19921/News/PC-Games-1-11-ab-heute-am-Kiosk-Titelstory-Witcher-2-und-Mega-Vollversion-Rome-Total-War-805042/galerie/1473569/?fullsize has been invited to learn more about the new material. I’m sure soon there will be more coverage in the news. Here’s a small summary of the 9 pages long article in the PC Games magazine 01/2011:A new mini game is arm wrestling.New abilities, e.g. social skills like special traits to convince NPCs in dialogues. There are now 4 tiers for skills: Sword fight, alchemy, training and magic. Every tier has many branches to refine skills. When Geralt dresses clothes you can see how his appearance changes, e.g. an Elven jacket… and the witcher wears a fluffy white hat and a gras-green jacket with embroidery.Combat: you can change styles during the fight, left mouse klick for light and fast hits, right mouse click for strong hits, new button for active block, new button to evade / somersault / jump aside. You can interrupt the fight similar as in TW1 but the action continues in slow motion. During that you can arrange things as you did in TW1.New: a kind of combat statistic. It documents the fight: “Geralt does 5 damage – enemy blocks 2 damage…”. I think it’s similar as in Versus. There was also a new quest presented. I don’t know if this video is related to it because it’s about dice and mini games in general. But in this tavern Geralt get the quest.[/URL] and – no more loading screens when Geralt enters new areas there! BIG
Geralts enters a dwarfen tavern in Vergen and gets the quest to investigate in a series of murders. He needs to examine a corpse which is buried outside Vergen in a crypt/cave to find out clues. As was to be expected a group attacks the witcher: melees, archers and sorcerers, the latter use teleport. Geralt must succeed to attack them in that moment when they manifest themselves. Then he reaches the cave, enters a burial chamber with several corpses. He finds the one for his examination and notices evidences and concludes: a Succubus killed this man. Geralt needs a companion for this job who is willing to allure the Succubus for a rendezvous. There is only one candidate: Dandelion. The following night in the forest Dandelion sings one of his heartbreaking songs whereas Geralt hides in a bush. The Succubus shows up. At this moment the bard is supposed to leave the stage for the monsterslayer but he can’t resist the temptation and want to go with the beautiful demon. Player’s decision: Let him go to relish the erotic adventure or Dandelion returns to Geralt and the witcher fulfills his contract? In the presentation the journalist decides in the favour of Dandelion. After a while Geralt follows his friend and finds both in a heavenly bed in the act of love. The demon doesn’t attack Geralt but buttonholes the witcher into a smart conversation… the nature of a Succubus isn’t evil. She is different but that doesn’t justify killing her. She pounces Geralt into an ethical and moral conflict.Player’s decision: Kill the demon because she slaughtered the man or let her live? Nobody knows yet because the presentation ended here.
Leak: It’s very probable that the modding community gets an editor to create adventures and mods. The graphic artist made unintentional a comment in this direction when his colleague showed the journalist how they create NPCs.

I'll just add some details:

New: a kind of combat statistic. It documents the fight: “Geralt does 5 damage – enemy blocks 2 damage…”

This combat log can be of course switched ON / OFF - decision is up to player.
There was also a new quest presented. I don’t know if this video is related to it because it’s about dice and mini games in general.

Yes, it is - it's part of described below gameplay :)
Geralt needs a companion for this job who is willing to allure the Succubus for a rendezvous. There is only one candidate: Dandelion.

What you should know, is that player can take control over Dandelion (simply - to play him) there.
Player’s decision: Let him go to relish the erotic adventure or Dandelion returns to Geralt? In the presentation the journalist decides in the favour of Dandelion.

And Geralt concluded this as: "Fuc*ing idiot actually went in" :DGood info Petra! :)If you guys happen to read this topic, you should know that it's all about the same gameplay.

Strange about this link, I edited it as plain (long) URL. It's just the cover of the magazin, there is no online version of the article available.@szypek26Yes, it's definitely the same material that was presented in the summary of the other thread. The
- journal (the quest part) is working now in two ways:...... 1st - short explanations of what, where and how...... 2nd - progresses in quests add new lines to a story of quest - like "Dear Diary: my name is Geralt. I was asked to kill the Striga. I asked Triss whether I shall do this. She said yes. So I sharpened my sword and killed the beast. Then I and Striga went dancing" - when done, you can publish your quest-story in the Web

part is mentioned as well, you can publish it on Facebook. And yes, you can play as Dandelion for a while during the "Succubus" quest. I'm curious to learn how this will work.In the German article they sound praises of the excellent graphics and texture very often.

This stuff is very interesting. Sounds the game will be resourceful and very much nice to play. I feel sorry for those who will decide to not taking it because of the lack of certain language dubs *rolling eyes*

*rolls eyes* Of course he does. It's hard to imagine Dandelion NOT taking that path. One of the things that beginning writers are told is, "The first thing you must do is plunge your hero into terrible trouble." Dandelion is a good secondary character -- even though I don't like him very much -- because Geralt can be knowledgeable, cautious, and sensible and STILL be "plunged into terrible trouble" through Dandelion's stupidity. Sapkowski used this a LOT in the little bit of him that I've been able to read.

Yes I remember quite a few "plunged into terrible trouble" through Dandelion's stupidity from the novels. But it's not only stupidity also imprudence.

I don't believe the language issue rem ains how it is now. CDPR did much efforts with localisation of TW1 which was appreciated very much. Why should they neglect it this time.@fchopinI don't know what training means. It's exactly the same word used in the article without any further explanation.

Indeed I don't. I'm simply pity for some countrymen of mine who're still saying the opposite :)

Perhaps it means Witcher's training - as in knowledge of monsters and maybe other special skills (jumping/acrobatics or something)?

That's the only what makes sense. I guess it's practical training for (sword) fight and knowledge about monsters because once I read in an article that Geralt has to know the environment to take advantage from it and use it against a monster.
