New EE messes up the save system

Hello fellow Witcher 2 fans, im just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem aswell.

When you die, the game reverts back to an older save than the actual last quicksave that you made. This just set me back about 30 - 40 minutes of gameplay during the prologue. Im not sure if this is and issue with the steam cloud thing or what. But it´s damn annoying. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm having an issue where I can sometimes quick save, but auto saving never works and the images are off altogether.

I enabled Steam Cloud but then disabled it because it said not all of my files would be backed up due to insufficient space.

ive had steamcloud disabled for a while now, it was causing me no end of internet problems. in fact ive disabled cloud support on every app i have installed that uses it. sorry that wasnt much help, just sayin

The images are off for me too. And now saving seems all but fucked up.
I died, started to replay, played for about 30mins. Kept quicksaving etc, but it seems none of the saves "registered" cause when I died again I got set back 30 minutes again :S

I cant possibly play like this, the save system need to work. Im trying insane difficulty and gettin killed is kinda expected :S

Hope for some kind of response or a solution. Cant be bothered to play anymore today. Want a save system that works.

Oh and I tried disabling Steam Cloud, still the same issue

Did you try to manually load the last quicksave? Did the game just load the wrong save or is the last quicksave actually gone?

You do know that death in insane is 'game over', right?

Yeah I manually tried that, but the time for the save does not update at all. It still says that the last quicksave is saved at 10:49. Even though i played well after 11:00.

You do know that death in insane is 'game over', right?

Hmm ahaa, that might be part of the issue! So there needs to be some way for the game to start saving files in My Documents again and look for saved games there too?

Since I had just started a new game for the EE content, I didn't mind deleting the save folder from steam/userdata/20920 and starting from scratch just for the hell of it. Quicksaving worked, but the images are still off. After a shutdown and restart of my PC, it's autosaving with the correct images and the quicksaving works with incorrect images. I'm not sure if the saves were corrupt or not. You might try backing up your save and deleting the 20920 folder, letting the game make a new one and then copying your save files back in just to see what happens.

If that doesn't work then delete the steam/userdata/config folder as well. I did that too, although it may not have been necessary. I hope this helps.

Hmm okay, thanks for the feedback. I think Ill try that. Since ive also started a new game i might aswell, spose I van suffer through the prologue again ;-)

But did you cope the saved files, then delete the folder. let the game make a new one and them copy your old save files in and load one of the saves?

I still have the old saves, but haven't tried copying an old one in yet. I've just been using fresh ones. I'll give it a shot now and let you know.

I copied an old file in and played it. It loaded just fine and the autosaved successfully afterward.

Think ill just delete the whole userdata folder just to be on the safe side!

Has anyone managed to fix this? Deleting the userdata, 20920, or save files will result in them reappearing moments laters. I'm seriously stuck on this one, the whole patch has been a mess.

My next step is to uninstall the game from Steam and install the GoG copy and see if that fixes the issue. It´s this whole Steam Cloud bollocks that messes things up :S
