Well... The combat, as much as "consoly" as some people here see it, its a huge improvent over TW1. That was a boring "click" fest and nearly nothing more. Now YOU can actually make combos and react to your enemies, instead of watching Geralt being awesome by himself. That is an important thing if you want to keep combat as a core part of the game, as it waas in TW1. And the people that dont like this so much, can play in "casual" and enjoy the story, so everybody is a winner here... MHO.As for the looks, the game seems fine by me. I bet surely theres still room for improvement, like the blood seeming a bit like ketchup (wether they do fix it or not, we shall see :) ). @Slimgrin, I dont think that nitpicking details according to your taste of how an RPG should be "stylized" is a way to choose canceling your order or not, really. Moreover, are you gonna tell me with a straight face that you'll buy and play Dragon Age 2 but cancel TW2? I mean, you complain that the "hurt alarm" is Call-of Duty-Cheesy, but what about the "signs" that informed about Geralts wounds in TW1? Those were not cheesy? My point is; In every game, even in the ones you consider masterpieces, there are little things that may not appeal to you but you choose to by-pass, because you like the game so much in its core elements...And last but not least, for the Demo-interview: I find that it was so little time! You got dozens of other companies that have so much time for showing their unbearable games! I'm sure they charge a lot of money for the minute or second, but that is more the reason for going with a more enthusiastic approach (I dont know if Tomasz did look tired, but he kind of looked too "relaxed" when the thing you want to do is drive the hype up). Or at least, if you were so limited by the time, you should 've prepared a more epic part of the game. Im sure it's a difficult thing to find a balance, because you dont want to spoil the game or show your best sutff either. But if you want to take advantage of being in the spotlight in Gamestop, being watched by people that arent precisely following the game status as we do here, you could have shown smthg more interesting, like the huge boss-battle against Draug, the metal-machine general, or Geralt romantic scene with Triss, or the hanging scene in the town.., All scenes that have been spoiled already, but not everybody have seen them, and indeed those scenes do a far better job in catching the attention than the footage that CDProject showed... Just my worthless 2 cents, dont want to come across as a smartass know-it-all or anything... :)Edit: Just another thing... It's not that I find TW2 to be a "perfect game". Not at all. Some of the choices made to develope dialog worry me, as do the forced quick-time events, and if I really think hard I maybe find one or two other things which I wont enjoy so much. But weighing the pros and cons, I find TW2 has the potential of being one of my favourites of all time. I guess I'll know when I get to play it... :)

For me it looks amazing, I dont know whats up with all these negative comments. The combat is really improved and graphics are really amazing. I want to play a complete new game not just witcher 1 with improved graphics. Like i said in other topic, cant wait for my collectors edition...

I love the new game and the world is very nicely designed! And do not forget that this is not the latest version of the game! As for the fighting system I believe that is better from witcher 1 because is more dynamic! ( sorry for my english)

The game is obviously consolized (interface, controls) and it definately lacks the "artistic flavor" from the first game. Also at the moment, animations are far from good.Everything else looks improved from the first game: new engine, much more customization, free roaming and non-linear storytelling - which is the most important aspect. Most probably it won't be "charming" like the first game, but that doesn't mean that it can't be great.

Honestly I don't think it does. Not trying to troll, and I'm not cancelling the pre-order... but the footage is low-res (and not helped by video compression, esp. in the SD stream) and Geralt's movement appears sluggish. It was nice to see more gameplay, but the game has looked better.

Now that I've realized that this gameplay is pre-beta, I don't have to worry about CDProjekt Red fixing all the issues that I've listed. They will fix all of the issues ;) The reason why I know this is because I've read through the polish forums and they will fix...1. Color of the World (implement a filter)2. Animations3. Battle (use of the sword)4. AI and some other issues...Guys, we have to think positively because we know how much CDProjekt Red cares for the community. One such grand example was the full free enhanced version patch of the original witcher game available to the consumers. Generally, studios will charge for such enhancements, but for CDProjekt Red, this was not the case. I'm just surprised that they didn't show the newest build of the game. The reason why I say this is because we the community can criticize the newest build and then CDProjekt Red wouldn't develop any patches for the game.

I don't know how long you've been on the forum here, but they ditched the charm of the old forum for the cool, badass feel of the new forum. I was hoping that was just a bad forum design decision and not a company-wide decision to prize badassery over charm on every front....The thing is, Geralt is a badass because he IS. They don't have to emphasize it with all kinds of other crap. The real badasses let their actions speak for them.

I had an account years ago, but left that forum and long since forgot both my old name and password, so I don't readily recall the old design. I wouldn't give a toot about the way the forum looked if they'd kept the charm in the game, though.I guess it's too early to condemn the art design completely. When I first saw Geralt's new face, I was shocked that they took such a unique and expressive design and ditched it for generic anime superhero look. Then I figured, oh well, at least he still sort of resembles the old Geralt. If the game-world is as amazing as it looks, then radial menus, screen splatter, and a mean new face are a small price to pay. Still, such a shame to fix what wasn't broken...

I think the game did have little nitpicky things that could be done better (as stated before, when Geralt first encounters a group of enemies they just stand there for a second staring at him and also the red damage indicator at the edges of the screen could get annoying)... But overall I'm very excited after watching the video! It looks like they improved upon almost all the core aspects of the game. I didn't see anything that was game-breaking or that would negatively affect my gameplay experience; which is pretty impressive for a video of a game in the alpha stage of development (most games when in alpha look a hell of a lot worse).

Please keep in mind that this is pre-beta. A lot of those bugs have already been fixed in beta.

Presentation was great. The game footage was really low res though. Btw, maybe you don't want to watch other previews, hands-ons etc. but on the page there is a trivia with the prize that is announced near the end of the video. I don't suppose they'd be sending a prize outside US but still check it out.

Just canceled my pre-order. No reason to spend $130 on a game I'm not sure I'll like. kinda painful actually, as I took this sequel so seriously.

Slimgrin, don't have any babies! I hate to see what might happen to them when you throw out their bathwater. :)TW1 sold one and a half million copies. That means there are 1.5 million different viewpoints about what would make TW2 the perfect game. I don't expect CDPR to match my vision of a perfect game; I expect them to come as close as they can to their own vision. Their vision includes the things that matter the most to me: compelling story, great characters, snappy dialogue, interesting quests. That's already more than you will get from most games. The little differences, you just live with.Hell, that's how you deal with a life partner. Find someone you match with on all the major stuff and learn to overlook, tolerate, or even love the small things they do that you don't like, because perfection does not exist. So really, it's practice for life. :) :)

Once again, very well put, Corylea! You've stated in a single post what I've been trying to say (in numerous threads) all week. I suppose I'm just not as efficient as you are ;)

Well I am not worried, one of the first things he says is that its an old pre beta version. I am thrilled about this game, and all this negativity wont ruin it for me:) Its still in my mind way ahead of other rpgs at this time. But we will all see when we play it wont we.And give poor Tomasz a coffe or something:)

It looks great, but I don't like how Geralt run with his sword in the hand, in Witcher 1 his moves while running around with sword looked better. Inventory desing looks very good and practical for me, I only hope that the graphics of the inventory will change, the art desing on the inventory and whole UI in the first Witcher was great !I don't like the radial menu, for gamepad it's OK but with keyboard and mouse I would prefer change signs with F1,F2,... or 1,2,3... keys. I don't like to slow down the game everytime when I like to change the sign, first witcher had signs on F1,.. buttons and it was great. Seeing the radial menu in the center of the screen everytime I want to change the sign is not cool, it's distracting, and the fight would not look so dynamic and fast as it should. p.s.: sorry for my english.

i disagree. The way the witcher 1 was running was absolutly aweful. I even dare to say it was the thing i disliked most about the witcher 1. He was glued to the ground and i very much hated that.about the vid: resolution was awefull, but if that's how a the graphics look on an older system i think it was awesome. What i didn't understand was the thing about silver swords? I though these were gone in this game? You still need to types of swords or is this my mistake?

The animations aren't finished yet, so you aren't seeing the moves the way they will be when the game is released.

MM360 just told us in the "Ask the Developers" thread that we'll be able to bind keys to various different functions. So you'll be able to use the keyboard for that, just the way you did in TW1.

Have you really played TW1? Geralt is a witcher. Every witcher uses silver sword to kill monsters. You can't just change that. Btw, welcome to the forum. Have a nice time around here.

I just have two requests. Implement real sword moves like in TW1 and remove the red stain everytime Geralt gets hit. Then the game will be awesome. We cannot have Geralt using those child like sword moves. We need the real thing just like in TW1.
