It would be wise to let us know about updates, at least so that those who use mods can uninstall them in advance and correct any changes in game.

I disabled this for now (GOG) ... hotfix big like a whole game? ... what is this????. Some people like myself have monthly data limit ... is generous enough for big downloads 1-2 times in month, but this here is crazy.

I don't know about GOG, but on Steam, only file verification happens. It is a correct alternative taken by the developers to prevent other problems.

Just make sure it's a 'file check' and not redownloading the game.

I've got the same and it is not just verifying the files, it's downloading 62G (On GOG.), just cancelled it as I have better things to do with my time.

Where are the patch notes or even a heads up from CDPR?

Friends, just one important consideration here

I know that patch's sometimes catch us off guard, but they come to fix any problems and not cause more problems. Today is Saturday and CD is still working.

Let's have some patience for eventual re-downloads, or file checks.

Same problem for me on GOG. I'm not downloading another 60GB this month just to get the option to disable the new local shadows. Guess I'll wait and start my "Cyberpunk is finally ready" play-through in March.

Just a guess :
Fix Audio Softwares problem who prevent to launch the game (the game keep crashing).
"Maybe" some performance with RT or inventory/map slowdown.
