I'm just sad to the fact that companies are allowed to release 'Ultra' renderings 2 years before the finished product (Ubisoft is guilty of this - which led me to not purchase other games - yes i may be a minority) and then release an 'Ultra' version that is 'not downscaled' - I just hope it lives up to the 2013 trailer, because watching the 2 beside each other. There is a difference.

What you saw two years back was a vertical slice with many of the game systems not in place running on unspecified hardware. So, it might have LOOKED better, but it wasn't the complete product. Listen to this interview.

Tell me guys, how can something be labeled "ultra" if some graphical effects are turned off?
Look, I understand "ultra but without Nvidia Hairworks", because obviously HW is something special and has a major performance impact.

Check the stream. Towards the end they show the menu with all the effects. Everything graphical property is turned up to Ultra, but a few extra effects are off.

Id would choose play the game how it was meant to be played on the system the trilogy was developed for. AH yes makes sense. I have Far Cry 4. I have 2 Titan X's in SLI and yes. I can run 4k at ULTRA and maintain 60FPS. They delivered... Surprisingly...

Based on what? Docm Ultra has ultra footage with a TITAN X on 4k resolution, you would expect a hell of a lot more in comparison to recent ps4 footage.

Have you seen side by side comparision? PC version looks so much better(even at 1080p res) while a console is struggling to maintain 30 FPS with that visuals. And to call the PC version just barely better looking that Witcher 2; I don't even know what to say to that.

Bro - Witcher 2 made 2013 games looks sad. Witcher 2 pushed the limits of graphics. It was FAR ahead of it's time in 2011.

They may not look close to the same, but CDPR in 2011 was loving on the computer gamers in a way that we all enjoyed. We were all excited about Witcher 3 because of Witcher 2... shame on us for believing a 2013 trailer. but.. shame on CDPR for not delivering what they showed (IF that is the case) and not responsibly stating we could not deliver as a company of what we showed you in 2013.. (I have yet to watch the video that you posted)

And just so Devs understand, quality of game or not.. when you promise something and then don't deliver with no explanation (once again haven't seen your video) - you lose trust in part of your audience. Consoles will still most likely add more money in your pockets and if that's the goal (which it probably is to most AAA companies - which CDPR never was), then you've succeeded. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Once again - I'm a minority I'm sure. Stating my frustrations about the differences, once again THE QUALITY may not be that DIFFERENT when it is released on Tuesday, however I'm amazed that they wouldn't show that this week and avoid all this bad press... once again - I'm sure this is an amazing game / graphics 'downgrade' aside.

The footage they showed in 2013 was suffixed with Pre-alpha footage. This isn't done for fun. Anyone who knows anything about software will understand things can change dramatically in some cases between pre-alpha and release.
Anyways, this is going nowhere. You have a right to be disappointed. So, feel free to do so because CDPR wouldn't say anything other than that they have worked their asses off to give that best game that they can and that they are proud of it. We'll just agree to disagree on the subject.

Almost everything you consume in the world is produced for the mass = big $$$ = bigger growth = total control!! (but that's a different subject that still applies in this case)

Meaning, in terms of gaming industries, consoles will always be the main stream base of thinking on how games should be, look, run with few exceptions here and there, mostly on PC, by the ones who makes them just because of what I said up there.

So until people realize that yes!! it is what it is right now and we can decide to live with it or not!! Am I blind to think one second that false advertisement just for sales sake are not existent in this world !!??... Hell no!! loll!! I well aware on how the world works in aspects you wouldn't even imagine. I'm not alone off course to know this...

Anyways, all and all, until the next generation of consoles come out or are obsolete ( which I highly doubt in the near future ) maybe in 5-7 years, well there's a pretty big chance that we will have the same kind of arguments, discussions, point of view and results as we have today...

2% of people will still own crazy a** Pc's and will still complain that devs can't deliver and that we are constantly being lied too..

Guess we need to get use to this and try to get the best out of who owns us in life hey!!??

Far Cry 4 delivered (despite bugs - not so many anymore) on the fact that it looks BREATH taking on PC and nice on consoles. It had PLENTY of graphic options.
I just feel like the compromises were not substantiated, or at least we aren't being told why - not this week anyway.

Yes us 2% will hope to have the best quality game we can on our PCs. GTA V delivered - but they had MUCH more funding I'm sure than CDPR.

This thread IS somewhat about graphics indeed and mods said multiple times that they don't automatically lock these threads but only if miss respect is being showed or forum rules broken whatever they are, don't usually read all of them because I primary know how to behave within a community without degrading people or subjects, yes I get pissed here and there but that's not the point...

Graphics are what they are concerning this game weather you like it or not. Just be grateful that you'l be able to customize the xml file and test it out how ever you can/want. Just that alone is and always is in most games the biggest difference there is between Pc's and consoles so we can take advantage of tweaking to a definite advantage in most cases.

A game that already looks great can only look better with additional patches, tweaks, mods etc that's where Pc's shine the most and we should work hand in hand with the devs instead of being opposed because of our often ego minds with exceptions...

But pre-alpha should not look BETTER than the released product. If you think that's Ok, than we are all being brainwashed or just accepting it. Why release a BETTER looking product 2 years BEFORE .. I'm not talking 6 months. I mean 2 YEARS on 2 YEAR old hardware... That's what blows my mind...

Seriously guys, pause and don't start an other downgrade hell...
Just wait the release and see, .xml file as been discovered with the feature parameters inside, nVidia feature video is released (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfGFU2XPLr4) with the past april gameplay footage video as well(http://www.gamersyde.com/hqstream_the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_gameplay_trailer-34468_en.html); as all the previewers said that wasn't the final version, they still holding the last since they can with the missing predownload files and they can't for the physical consoles versions.
If you want to think worst, then think about an marketing agreement for free advertising from Sony and Microsoft that are holding the competition since they can do it without too much financial problem and the pc side don't have an equal high sponsor to support such marketing maneuvering.
In the end I'm dissapointend about the terrain and building tessellation just like someone of you, still I don't know if it's totally missing, and I'm waiting, if even the water tessellation will be out well I've wasted 140 euros, no problem, I'll think about twice next time on the next Steam sales.
