New Player need help

+
Hi guys, im a new player and i would like some tips and tricks on the game.
I'm playing more and doing the rows from the Nilfgard "team". Wich is the one i got most cards.
Is there any special deck or trick to this Nilfgard?

Also i would like to know the meaning of the abilities of the cards for example: Zeal, Bloodthirst etc.

I will appreciate any help you guys offer and i must say you guys got a pretty good game here that i never knew it existed.

There is a lot to learn for sure! You can right click on any card to see a pretty good explanation of what it does and what all of it's key words mean.

Zeal means you can use an order's card ability right away. Bloodthirsty refers to how many units are damaged (have a red number) on your opponent's side of the board. This can be tricky, if you damage a boosted (green number) card but it's number does not change to red than the game says it is undamaged. Blood thirst only relates to skellige right now, so if you are facing them try to keep all your units healed :)

nilfgaard is the faction mostly based around suberfuge and messing with the opponent's strategy via locking their engines and getting rid of their key cards.

I hope this was somewhat helpful! Please let me know if you have more questions. I will do my best to answer.

And welcome to gwent! :)

Thanks! Nilfgard isnt a good option for a beeginer then? What about Elfs main role? If its a good one i might try to follow that legion
P.S: What is the food number meaning on the cards? Its like a wine and bread logo

The food number is called provisions. That is part of deck building. You have 165 provisions total you can use for a deck and each card coats a certain number of provisions. The more powerful the card the higher the cost. You have to have a minimum of 25 cards in each deck and you can have a Max of two copies of each bronze and only one copy of each gold.

Nilfgaard is a great faction but might be easiest to play once you understand all the decks a bit. Scoiatael is one of my favorites (the elves, dwarves and dryads) because I love fantasy :) some of their decks focus on damaging the enemy and/or boosting your cards and that might be easier in the beginning :)

I would recommend Skellige for any new players, especially the Discard archetype with Bran. There are plenty of cards which can discard which will make your game more consistent. For every other faction, you need to adapt too much if you don't draw your powerful cards. Discard can achieve relatively high consistency and will be easier to learn and play. See a couple of YT video of some good players playing Skellige discard and you should be good to go. By the time you get the nuances of the game, you can try other factions and other archetypes. Good luck!

Sir, what is a special card?
Also, for SCOIATAEL, what LEADER do you recomend as the most powerfull?
Special cards have the little fire symbol in the top left corner. They are things like spells and alchemy cards. I would say you could debate which leader is the strongest, but the most versatile is probably brouver, in my opinion.

I saw on REDDIT lots people saying FRANCESCA was the best one, can you explain why at least?

Franchesca can play a Special Card from the Graveyard (usually referred as GY). So, she can, for example, play Rag Nor Rag on both lanes (once from her hand and once from the GY in the same turn). Or she can play Royal Decree twice. Or she can play Muzzle twice. She is extremely versatile since she can play a Gold Special card twice. Usually her ability can win you one round. The downside is, you will have to have plenty of special cards (and gold special specifically) which will make it hard for her to get a win condition in other round.

She is hard to play and I would not recommend her for a new player.

I would recommend trying Skellige (usually referred as SK) discard archetype which will be easier to pilot. If you want to play SC, Filandrevel (full elf) or Eithnè artifact are better choices.

Whichever Leader you play, don't forget to *always play Ranked. Don't ever play casual where you see veteran players trying their tier 1 decks for fine-tuning*

Oh why would i play ranked? WIN RATE: 10%? ahahahha

To bad now...i unlocked the following LEADER: BROUVER HOG.

What this leader is good at? What's the main deck around it?

Why should i only play ranked?

Thanks

In ranked, you are matched against people with similar (skill and deck combined). You will not matched against tough opponents, but fair opponents. In casual, mostly people try their deck to fine tune it, which will mostly be veteran players with very powerful decks.

So, always play Ranked. If you think your win % is less in ranked, casual may be even harder.

Brouver mainly specialises in movement and row stacking opponents to use powerful traps or spells (like Lacrate or Crushing Trap). I haven't played him more so can't say much.

Anybody here can tell me a good BROUVER deck or in wich situation i shall use it?

Also, that leader that does 4 dmg 4 charges, it has specific decks or just a random leader who can eliminate squishy targets?
