I do have to agree !! Symantech for a gamer is like having a boat anchor attach to your char.

Start the game with the file c:\program files\the witcher\systen\witcher.ee and report any errors, it could tell us what the problem is

Have you made sure you have run all your OS updates and hot fixes?Sounds like you may also have a bit of a "VBR" issue. Or "DirectX" issue. Try to re-install the latest VB-Runtimes and DirectX distro's.

--------------------------------------EDITFirst of all - CHECK FOR VIRUSES AND SPYWARE. there maybe spyware trying to install in the background that may also use the Mscoree.dll.--------------------------------------Error 1935 is associated with .NET Framework, J# redistributable package, Visual Studio or any other application that uses the Windows Installer MSIAssembly and MSIAssemblyName tables to install assemblies. This behavior occurs because Mscoree.dll is held in use for 10 minutes after you install (or remove) the assemblies. When you start another install, the installer tries to load its own version of Mscoree.dll to install the assemblies for the new program. Because another version of Mscoree.dll is already loaded, the failure occurs. You can use either of the following methods to resolve this problem: • Restart your computer. -or- • Stop Windows Installer (msiservice). To stop Windows Installer, follow these steps:1. Open Control Panel. 2. Double-click Administrative Tools. 3. Double-click Services. 4. Right-click the Windows Installer service. 5. Click Stop. Also Try downloading the latest .NET framework and re-installing it again using the following fix in a CMD prompt.dotnetfx.exe /c:”install.exe /l”

Hello gamers,I need help, i have read your fixes and so far none of them apply to my little problem, the game does not crash nor does is stop functioning... my problem is in the grapics, here are my general specs:Vista 64bit *shutters*2-3 gig ram avalibleati x1200 intigrated cardand i have updated the card, and i keep the comp maintained by alot of the things you recomend ^_^but my problem i think is with the meshes or something of the sort, the game plays fine but certain things look, well off to say, like the main char his face is chopped up with graphic glitches, the bargredeshes, the evil green dogs just cus i know thats misspelled, have things sticing out of thier faces and paw, the first witch you meat her necklace goes into her chest, and her face is messed up to, most of the characters that you interact with have something wrong with them, which makes the game less appealing but like i said it still plays i just wish it could look better cus it is wierd to be walking along and see the white birds then see something stretch there beak all the way to the sky, its very wierd all help is greatly appreciated ^_^- Cloud Destabon

The problem is that your GPU is not supported. Integrated cards are meant for HDTV or general desktop use, not gaming. The minimum ATI card for The Witcher is a 9800.

Note to everyone. (NOT aimed at grey_wolf2484)Please read the box or homepage for game requirements, for any game, not just "the Witcher".One thing that gets on my tits is when a forum is filled with abuse and swaring because a game won't run, and we find out that the dappy end user didn't read the box before buying the game. Besides, alot of game stores will not except a game returned on the bases that "it would not work on my system"grey_wolf2484 > Im very suprized your running Vista64bit with a ati x1200 intigrated card... and your unaware of how much Physical RAM you have (2-3 gig ram avalible)... Did you build this yourself or is it a shop knockup? See, its a pritty high end OS for such a low end GPU.

no i got it from walmart, i work there so i got a major discount and as far as the ram goes just have never looked to be sure and i did for get to mention that it is running :ToshibaSatellite a215processor: amd turion 64x2Ram: 1918 mband, thanks for not aiming that at me ^_- i read the box and just thought my comp was well about it lol, as for the low end gpu is an integrated card really that much worse than a normal card?

An integrated card is much worse. They usually don't have video memory and take a chunk of slower system memory instead. And of course the system memory is being used by the system at the same time, so things can really start to slow down.On top of that the core itself is limited - the x1200 only has 4 pixel shaders and 2 vertex shaders compared to say, 96 in the 8800gts. This is probably the source of the glitches.Have a look at this site for some more detailed info: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=39568
Integrated graphics cards are not for gaming – office work, DVD watching, and web surfing is near the limit of their capabilities.

And unfortunately your GPU is near the bottom of the list. From this site: http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon-Xpress-X1200.3775.0.html
ATI Radeon Xpress X1200 is hardly apt for gamers. Only old games like Quake 3 Arena can be played in 1024x768 with high/medium details fluently. Even Warcraft 3 runs fluently with minimum details. Current, damanding games like FEAR, Doom3 and Quake 4 can hardly be played (e.g. 2 frames per second in battle scenes in Quake 4).

There is talk of being able to plug in an external GPU, same as an external HDD. Have a look here: http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/hands-on-with-the-asus-xg-station-external-gpu/Hopefully it'll be commercially available soon, as you don't really have any other option if you stick with the laptop.

I´m very dissapointed that a game is selled with High-End-necessary Graphik and CPU, which means the new standard of OS, Vista is on board, and it does not work with Vista. The only official reactions are a post of solutions which have been found out by other users (and doe not work in my case) and the grat tip, to install XP parallel to Vista. For that mones I expect a patchsolution for vistausers (I spot a point on the big "Games for Windows"-Sign at the package) and an official message, that the crew is working on that. I got a good impression of the crew watching the "making-of-Video", now this good impression brakes doem fluently.I´ve a thosiba satego P200 which must be good enough for the game, but also the problem game´s crashing during save-period

Whoa, I`m not so english-lesson person as other here, so I hope you will accept my message, cause I`ve have some trouble to finding same problems here in english. System requirements is great, really, I`ve done game 2 times already and now I have new 1.2* patch installed and all is ended for me. Now the game can not see original disk, and even reinstalling whole Win does not help. I`ve found so many new things being playin third time, so I just want to continue. I`ve tired of reinstalling game and whole system, so maybe some answers that could help?..

nice answer will be "we do a patch as THQ done for force commander to remove the stupid protection creating random crashes" :dead:but, we paid the game, and we are the only ones to not bein able to play, pirates enjoy it for free... ]:->devs, a fast answer/solution is needed... or next time you say that you protect your games to make people that steal it to not be able to use it, we will say "come on, let's download it, it will work better"...... ;Dsad to have to say such things, but that's the stupid truth..... but remember that we paid the game, that give us the right to ask it to work properly ???

Hi Guys,VistaGeforce 7800 GT X 2 SLIGame patch appliedI’m having a serious issue with the game. Almost every time I go to inventory or trading interface the game bombs out. This is a bummer as I really want to get the full experience of this game as I am an avid RPG player. This game really looks to be an outstanding piece of work and I really want to play the game for more than 10 min at a time due to crashes.Help Help Help
