Anyone can get a MCSE in whatever, its only £1000 for a week crash course and your made to think you know it all.Anyone with half an ounce of IT security knowledge would install a decent security suite that they have controle over and can do away with UAC altogether ... TOUCHE!

Yeah, you are right for a change, and I have no way of proving otherwise but then why would I feel the need to? Except, not everyone is a cheat.Nice post btw. You've now lost the argument and are simply using cheap shots to cover your lack of knowledge on the actual purpose of UAC and anything security related. Nice work mate.

**EDIT: btw, for the record, IE7 protected mode is part of Vista's UAC feature which, again, would prevent spyware installs (according to you) by "Java plugins" and "cookies". Maybe you should look up IE7 Protected Mode on Google mate.Just a suggestion.

You know, just to help you out again mate.

Jess, you have issues with disabling UAC... how much are MS paying you ;) Its the only explination to why you would want gamers to waist resources on MS hinderencewareI is fully aware of what UAC does. It limits applications/games/programs to standard user privileges until an administrator authorizes an increase in privilege level. And it is triggered on the following events ->Right-clicking an application's icon and clicking "Run as administrator" Changes to files or folders in %SystemRoot% or %ProgramFiles% Installing and uninstalling applications Installing device drivers Installing ActiveX controls Changing settings for Windows Firewall Changing UAC settings Configuring Windows Update Adding or removing user accounts Changing a user’s account type Configuring Parental Controls Running Task Scheduler Restoring backed-up system files Viewing or changing another user’s folders and files Repairing a network connectionthe ones highlighted in red are what some games need to be able to do to run. ;) Which is why its a pain for Gamers... which is the point.See, in theory its ment to stop mailware... but then you can say "it stops unauthorised installation of common software untill an administrator is present to alows access.". which, lets face it, its what it really does... the whole "Mailware" thing is just overhype to keep people who panic for a livin on there toes and under MS's control.Oooo and the "sandbox" that IE7 runs that relies on UAC is just another one of those "What about IE7 on XP? That seems to cope fine with my own security suite" things IMHO.

Issues? Nah, just one of the many people who realise the stupidity of disabling it when you don't have to.I'd be more invested in this discussion if the person I was talking too actually had some knowledge on the subject and wasn't hiding behind patronising comments to cover his own lack of knowledge. Right boss? ;).

Cool it down both please, i hate cat fights :)The problem that UAC has is with (guess it) Tages !! It can cause you problem and probably will, till Tages doesn`t change the way it acts on your system, ppl will have problems running the game ! Some other software that has problem with tages are zonealarm and AVG, even if it is an offline game, tages tries to connect to a website when you run the game. Zonealarm doesn`t give any message about it trying to connect somewhere else.

Sounds like it is time to remove Tagas protection entirely from the game??It causes more problems than it does good.It even causes problems with programs that are supposed to protect you from harm, as you mentioned.I, myself have yet to finish the game, gave up playing on it caused by the random half hour crashes or something on Windows Vista.Atm waiting for the enhanced version and hoping that it wont crash... for now this game is thrown away money since it keeps on crashing on Windows Vista.

I have to agree with yinchie..It's a bit shite that the latest patch does bugger all considering vista users are getting the largest amount of hassle....I thought vista sp1 might improve things but i'm still getting the half hour loading crash....the whole command prompt thing is useless as well..sort it out cdprojeckt, as this game is ace...i've been enthralled from the start...

Hello, my problem was that the game would start but get stuck at the loading page of the very first scene in the game after one starts a new game. Since I increased the pagefile size and placed it on another drive, if I leave the game stuck at the loading screen for say 5 minutes, it will skip the opening scenes and go straight to the fight with the bandits. The game will be quite laggy and jerky and will skip parts of the scenes (when the frightener enters, etc..) I upgraded vista to sp1, I uninstalled my old nVidia drivers in safe mode and installed the newest drivers I could find. Here are my specs (I apologize if they're in an unorthodox format):Laptop:Intel Dual Core T7200 @ 2.00 GHz each.2 GB ramnVidia GeForce Go 7700Visa 32-bit sp1Not sure what else to post. If I could get any help I'd really appreciate it, thank you.

Do you have the latest drivers for the nvidia go 7700? Since it's a laptop, I'd check your manufacturer. In fact I'd highly recommend http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ as you will not have to deal with sub-par drivers from HP, Dell, etc.Go 7700, while not the greatest card for the game since typically Go chips take a bit of the functionality out of the comparable desktop card, should be able to handle this at low settings. I'd make sure the settings were turned down as well.

The latest drivers I have I actually did find at laptopvideo2go.com. I could not find a new driver compatible with mine released in the last few months, I had to go back and find one that was released to help deal with Bioshock. I sadly don't know much about drivers but my friend told me it was the one to use. I also have put all the settings on low and turned off anti-aliasing and depth of field as my friend also told me to do.edit: Trying to find anything on the Asus website is cruel torture as far as im concerned.

I did and I still have the same problem. I think actually getting the game to load was a fluke as it hasn't happened in about 10 attempts.
