Look. V3 Happened and was rejected by quite a few people. Enought to probably make Mike think Twice about publishing a new one.

Ever consider that?

Mike has openly said that V3 was not really Cyberpunk canon and is an alternate reality. Therefore it is not V3 to me, but 'Barbiepunk'. Like Cybergen, it's not Cyberpunk.

Well, without putting words in his mouth, since I can barely recall them, IT'S BEEN SO LONG, ( where is your God now?), I think he said something along the lines of, "We did too much too fast and strayed from the vision of what made Cyberpunk great - low lives and high tech."

Without getting into another V3 chat, unless of course you want to, since it bears directly on this discussion, I think V3 did quite a lot I liked. If you excluded the doll-art, as in, made it go away magically forever, the only bits that I wasn't fond of were the clean cyberware bracelets and the idea of corporations as NPCs. Way too clean for the former and way too meta for my taste for the latter.

Other than that, V3 had lots of great ideas. Which we've talked about before but in short: alt cults, nanobuildings, super cities, full conversion societies, etc. Just not too....punk. Is all.

I kinda thought of it as TransHumanPunk myself, but had fun with it

I would love a new version of Cyberpunk ... and I hope they make one using concept art of Cyberpunk 2077, it would be top notch quality.

Just hope that if they do it, they hire someone who knows how to make books and not someone who use word art and disparagingly colors ... their layout designer is quite bad. But some quality stuff like the books from Pathfinder or L5R ... one can only dream off ...

Anyway, I am satisfied with old netrunning rules. I still use them almost as written (just some name changes, and no dungeon maps).

Maybe a CP2020 reprint with better rules, my wishes are:

- Combat where AP bullets are not a must. Feel weir that someone shoots you at less than 1m with a 9mm bullet and... nothing? Or a tiny scratch at your best...
- Netrunning: Well... the actual system is kinda... weird...

I actually don't want Mike anywhere near a new edition. There are so many thing in V3 that makes no bloody sense at all, it isn't even cyberpunk. I found it embarrassing to read it. Mike has turned out to be the RPG-scene's response to George Lucas. Any moment now a new book may come out with Jar Jar, telling us that he is Cyberpunk.

The game has clearly outgrown its creators, at least those who wrote V3. All 2020 players I know happily fine tune or rewrite rules they don't like but keep true to the 2020 world because it is awesome. If a new edition is to be written, then I think the game will benefit from new blood. Cyberpunk needs someone that "get" Cyberpunk 2020, and that ain't the V3 gang.

Hopefully 2077 the computer game will turn out to be great and a RPG can be based on that.

A 2077 timeline likely won't happen till the games release, or just before. As for rules updates, Officially R.Tal has gone with Fuzion for everything, maybe they would go back to Interlock, but without some changes both systems still need a lot of work, which is the reason Interlock Unlimited exists.

As for new flavor text... I would say good luck on that one... we can hope, we can pray... but even if our prayers are answered that doesn't mean we are going to like what we get.

I try, I try to keep putting out nwe shit, flavor and rules wise for the game, to keep it alive, to keep it fresh, to keep it going... but there is only so much one man can do for free.

What I would like to see is the books reprinted with all the errata corrections in them. This would include the following things.

1) The Armor rules from Chrome 4 incorperated into the main rule book and all armor from the main rulebook and the supplements updated to match the new armor rules.
2) All the character careers from all the books placed into the main rule book and corrected so they are all matching in the 10 skills catagory ie for example the Assassin from Stormfront would lose 1 skill as I believe it is the only career with 11 skills.
3) All weapons arrate fixed and placed into the main rule book, as well as have the rules for weapon modifications.
4) That leaves the supplemental books to be reprinted and actually match the intended use of theose books, the chrome books can then be reprinted as actual style guides and cyberware implant and options. The solo of fortune can then cover any new weapons and things, combat related.
5) An update on the netrunning rules, taking into account how tech has advanced concerning wireless communications and potentially be more realistic in some places.

I am sure more of you can think of other things as well, I mean wisdom has so much covered in his Interlock Unlimited which is a wonderful pdf collection.

Yeah, it would be great to have a deluxe reprint in the way Onyx path has reissued the Classic World of Darkness main lines, and maybe move forward the time line.

Hey Mike, would it be possible?

Nothing confirmed as of yet. A lot of us here are hoping for an official Cyberpunk 2077 PnP release, but there's been nothing from Mike Pondsmith or R. Talsorian on the issue.

I know everyone says that you can just buy 2020 and use Datafortress2020/Interlock Unlimited to fix everything that doesn't work but, come on, imagine that from the perspective of a new GM/Player. That can work for people who've been running CP2020 for a long time, who've been running it long before the timeline and the events didn't diverge as much as they do with our current world, people who have learned through play where the weakspots of the game are. But now imagine I buy CP2020 (in english), download and print everything from DF2020 and try to figure out what should I use to GM a game, also with non-english speakers as players. I need something compiled, current but also true to the original, with everything fixed with the input with players as dedicated to the game as wisdom000 and other datafortress collaborators are, with the quality standards that are now to be expected from an RPG core rulebook (around 400 full color pages, hardcover, etc.). And also something that will catch the eye of publishers around the world so that we can see them translated: I prefer this because on character creation you want to hand the manual to your players for them to decide what they want, not translate every section for them only to find out they don't like that particular skill or piece of equipment, and also not have to remind them of what the info on their character sheet means at every turn.
