If the character in the artwork is indeed Ciri, then we have a walking, talking fast travel option right there :p/>

Remember when she wanted to teleport to Yennefer? Like she was in 30 different worlds before she managed to do it right? :p

For a game being 30 times bigger than the previous one and bigger than skyrim, fast travel is a must. Saying otherwise is just plain silly.

And yes guipit pointed out, that's one of my main concerns. I hope we are able to play after the main story is over, otherwise it would be depressing.

Honestly, TW3 sounds like a perfect combination of TW 1 and 2, political intrique, lots of monster hunting, open world and lots more.

Honestly i have mixed feeling about this. World 30 times larger than witcher 2 can't be possibly as detailed as tw2 locations. I fear that we lose that witcher atmosphere and feel. I wish to be wrong but just think about it.

Saw this over at Neogaf.

Please tell me there are horses in Witcher 3 and is it that the name!? Geralt has a beard!

  • World supposedly 20% bigger than Skyrim's
  • 30-40 minutes to cross world on Horseback
  • New streaming technology (CDRED Engine 3)
  • Geralt's Memory is restored
  • No chapters/acts
  • Dude is fucking DONE fighting for everyone else
  • Everything from solving MYSTERIES to slaying monsters
  • Coming out on "all top-of-the-line" consoles - I'd say that confirms next-gen is in.

All of this sounds freaking awesome. />

The list of features I found here sounds amazing.

I mean, the most important for me:

General:

- Enemies don’t scale to the player’s level

Plot:

- Can abandon the storyline, but will have repercussions later
- Not doing a plotline is a choice the player has
- Multiple branches of narratives that feed into each other
- Don’t have to do anything outside the main storyline to beat the game
- Could have help in a main-line encounter from an ally you gained in the Skellige archipelago if you’ve completed certain quests in certain ways
- Major events in the main storyline are “gates” for the state of the world

Combat:

- Combat system: three big changes to solve the problem of being locked into long animations
- Every button press mapped to a single strike
- Each move takes a roughly equivalent time to perform
- Can always interrupt your current action to immediately dodge or block
- Can block/dodge when out of stamina, but you’ll be staggered
- Team wants to make the combat “more intimate”
- “You don’t run – in the Witcher 2 you were running constantly. You walk, but your attacks are very fast. Your opponents also walk but they have charges and things like that.”
- Geralt’s dodge roll replaced by a pivot move
- It retains its defensive utility without game-breaking mobility
- Swordfighting: can unlock new strikes and boosts such as improved stamina and parrying

There's only one complaint I have about thei plan:

- The team is deciding between using a handful of in-combat special moves for particular attacks and a slow-motion quick-time event style/
Why are you even considering it?!

My concerns:

- The team felt it missed the huge freedom of open-world games like Skyrim
- World 40 times larger than the last game

Can they pull that off... :? Bigger doesn't mean better...

Jesus everyone's so freaked about when they hear about "open world", it's like the end of the world or something. WTF ?Don't you all want a bigger game, less scripted, with more quests, more locations ? If it's bigger doesn't mean it's bad ffs

I'm still trying to process every piece of the awesome news, but for the moment I can say for sure that I'm very excited and MY BODY IS READY.

Old Geralt worries me a little, does that mean a lot of time has passed and there's not much connection between TW2 and TW3? Gotta read through the speculations in this thread to calm my nerves...

@Sirnaq: Yeah, I'm not sure about the huge open world being a good thing either, but we'll see, maybe CDPR can pull it off and make it super-detailed and characteristic...

I don't care for fast travel or "continuing to play" after the main story line in a Witcher game.
The main reason I love TW1+TW2 is that epic story. Not that I have respawning monsters or can go to the brothel as often as I want. I do not revisit locations in open world games if there is no incentive in doing so.
I like to roleplay and in the witcher games I roleplay GERALT. Not some sneaky dark elf assassin, not a frost-resistant nord, not a male/female space soldier scanning the universe for ... ? resources and fetching strange people I don't know artifacts from distant worlds.

GERALT GERALT GERALT (with a marvelous beard)

The beard just means he stopped shaving.

Having a beard does not make you a lot older automatically, not to mention that quessing Geralt his age is spotty at best.

Nah, but it usually means the shift of focus. I would actuall welcome that provided that they go Betrayal at Krondor route as opposed to Skyrim.

No it doesn't. They are focused on story, choices and consequences, now they're bringing this to a much more opened game, nonlinear, not just the story but the levels which felt really small in TW2. Open world doesn't mean Skyrim, shallow quests, and boring exploration.

Gothic series was open world, and it was immersive and atmospheric, but I hand't the story and characters nor the choices of the witcher games. Many other open world games are great, and are focused on the story aswell. I can think of Assassin's Creed, which wasn't a huge open world game but it was focused on the story aswell. I think the guys from CDProjekt can make that open world game that has nonlinear story, choices and consequences and an interesting involving story. Not just fetch and grab quests. So bigger doesn't mean "worse". The most disappointing thing about TW2 was it's lack of quests and content, now this will be all "fixed" :D

Heck yes, a huge Witcher world to explore filled with hundreds of quests, monsters to kill, choices to make, skills to learn, sounds like a dream come true. I like the open nature of TW1 a lot more than the focus TW 2 had.

It looks like they're using roughly the same assets as the Witcher 2 with the video of Triss on a table with a chair.

W2 was kinda too detailed anyway. As long as we don't notice it, It's fine. I'm sure if we screenshot stuff that looks really shitty CDPR will probably correct it in a patch.

Having a beard is for me a visual clue that adds to the "HAVE SEEN IT ALL, don't mess with me" vibe Geralt radiates.
His real "age" does not matter that much.

PS: wild hunt is the name of the game. So I expect they will deliver on that :D on all fronts.

I need a barber to shave that thing of.

Evertything else sounds fine for now.

The marketing aproach of the :"Perfect entry point," , I hope it's just that, marketing.

I kind of know what he means. I had that with Crysis 2. Visual overload, can't tell what's going on on the screen.

This was more due the horrible postfilter-effects which blurred the image beyond recognition.
