NG+ item lvl scale is screwed. Items/crafts with over lvl 100 requirement?

+
I wish the PS4 would allow the same thing about saves or allows us to down grade patches because I really been wanting to play through my new game+ but I can't because I'm afraid of the gamebreaking bug in regards to the BLood & Wine DLCs where you can't interact with npcs. :/

You can start BaW without fear, issue occurs only for those who started Blood and Wine in 1.20 and left it when patching to 1.22. If you did not start BaW yet, you won't encounter any issues.

Given the original game without ng+ had a level cap of 70, I was a bit surprised the level cap wasn't raised to 140 now that ng+ starts at the level you finished new game on.

At least the cap could be increased to level 120, that would be enough even for those who start NG+ at level 70 (the previous level cap). Would there be any particular disadvantage to this solution compared to the existing level cap at 100 ?

It would take time for cdpr to check if everything scaled correctly. it's not going to stop someone from using exploits etc, to reach a high level in normal game, and then they will complain about the level cap in new game plus. You could peg ng+ games to start from level 30 to level 53. Any higher starts at 53.

The change I suggested only affects the maximum level of Geralt, everything else (quests, monsters, gear) would remain the same. That is why I asked if there is a specific reason why a level cap of 100 was chosen, or if it is only because it is a nice round number that at the time looked like it should be enough for everyone ?

That is another idea I was about to suggest (cap the base level NG+ starts from), but I thought it might not easily fix broken saves where level 100+ items and enemies are already present in the game world. Perhaps a combination of both would be the best, that is, increase Geralt's level cap to 120, and also limit the NG+ level offset to somewhere between level 65-70 so that item and enemy levels above 120 are avoided.

That's what I meant.

I think that those with already broken game are in for a long wait or a shock. Fixing it for them is not going to be easy.

oh damm
can we get a dev comment please?
im on 4th playthrough and HOS level requirement is 99!!

i cant kill enemies because they are too high

anyway to fix that by mod or console??
just until offical patch comes ?

im having such a blast!!
i really dont want my fun to end because of that bug!!

dear devs i beg you by the ethernal fire
Question is don't even know if there will be a patch for this problem or not.

I'm not sure they're convinced there's a problem, and that this isn't due to the use of mods and cheats.

I'd urge anyone on console in particular to report this on the support form if you have the problem, as there's absolutely no question that you DIDN'T use mods/cheats. For those on PC, please send a savegame when you submit the report - I'm not sure if they can tell or not if there was a mod used, but it may help.

I just don't think they anticipated people grinding to get high levels legitimately.

Update: No idea if this works - I'm not using any mods until I have to, but it claims to address the high-level item issue:

2nd Update: And this one seems to address the enemies too :)

I am on PS4 so when you say post on the support forum, do you mean the tech support forum or some other forum?

The problem is that I play at Xbox One, and they still say they have no plan to change it. :(
They only explained how they haven't predicted this thing of problem to happen.

And I agree that they are not convinced this is a problem, since most people belive "there's no way to go over level 53 fairly".

Can someone brief me on this? Doesn't NG+ start at Lvl 30? Or does it start at whatever level you start with? As in, if you import a level 54 Geralt, will White Orchard be a level 54 area?

NG + were the first level 35 Ghouls, now with this error does not matter what level you begin with NG + because if you empienzas 40 you leave that level and well with everyone. This is the error that has the 1.22, Greetings

Before patch 1.20/1.21, it started somewhere in the '30s. In patch 1.20/1.21, they made an undocumented change which means that it starts at whatever level you import from, so if you start with a Level 54 Geralt, everything will be (base level+54). It affects quest levels, enemy levels and equipment. If you started your NG+ game before 1.20/1.21 came out, it stays with whatever was happening, but there seem to be various bugs. So far, I think these are the issues that have been mentioned:

- Quest "recommended levels", equipment and enemies can go above Level 100, but Geralt can't. With equipment, I *think* from what I've seen that it will correct itself, and that if you craft something that claims to be (say) level 105, it will actually become level 99. However, enemies don't "auto-correct", so if you start the game with a very high level Geralt, say Level 70, you could find yourself facing enemies 20 or more levels above you late in your playthrough.

- There's a bug that I think affects everyone in that the crafting screen seems unreliable in telling you what level gear is. On the left, it still gives the original +30 level, but on the right it gives the new one (and, I think, it may actually craft sometimes at something different again).

- There's a bug that only affects some people in that if your current equipment is unequipped, it will suddenly "jump" to a higher level and you find you can't wear it any more. (I'm not sure, but I suspect this is affecting those who started NG+ before 1.20/1.21?). There seem to be other reports of random increases in equipment levels too.

Have I missed anything?

@Dragonbird , thank you. That explains it well.

Couldn't they just limit everything to level 100? I imagine that would fix these issues. If 100 is Geralt's level cap, then why isn't it everything else's?

Also, the fact that craftable items show contradictory level requirements can't be ignored. That's definitely a bug that should be looked into.

Well they could, but why have a leveling system then?
Without NG++, it is rather pointless to go beyond level 100. As has been mentioned throughout, if you play the game legit without using any XP cheats, level 53-55 is about the maximum you can go on average.

So considering the current mechanics, I'd say that would be a good idea.

Personally, I don't really mind a few things a few levels over, If they are going to do anything I believe just raising the level cap is better. Would take some work though.

What I would not like is if I grinded (I do not grind) my way to say level 63 and started a ng+. Thes people would have 10 possible levels stuck at level 100 . That's why I made my comment.

Raising the level cap would work as well, but like you said, it would probably be harder to do than simply locking the leveling system at a maximum of 100.

There would be some work on locking things to level 100 too, don't know which is easier.

I should mention, that I wouldn't complain if they did lock things to 100. It's the others who use exploits etc that will.

Is there any point in levelling up after Level 100 anyway? You must have far more skills than you can use. What does it actually get you? If it's just more points for HP and so on, and the monsters are also levelled up, then there isn't really that much difference between being a Level 99 Geralt fighting a Level 99 monster and a Level 110 Geralt fighting a Level 110 monster.

Anyway, I'm not personally going in at extremely high levels, so I've no real preference on how they fix it, I'd just like to see it fixed.
